[Nexus Alt-Plot] Nothing and Nightmares {Beans & C'nor}

[Beans]

She sighs and comes over to stroke her hair.
Oh,Tali, it's not your fault at all.

She gives her a sad little smile.
Look at you, you're all tried out. You should get some sleep, honey.
Because when your friend says she's going to kill herself, that totally doesn't make it hard for you to sleep, right? :I

[C'nor]

"Yes it is. I did my best to... make you feel better... and it clearly didn't work... And then now... us being together didn't... help either, so I messed that up somehow too."

She pauses a moment, curling up tighter.

"And how am I supposed to sleep? You... you just told me you're going... t-to kill yourself..."

[Beans]

Nothing was going to stop me, Tali. You've been wonderful and sweet and you've made my last days something to remember when I'm gone. You didn't do anything wrong.
Now go to sleep. I'll be better off this way, okay?

[C'nor]

Talina looks up at her, seeming bewildered for some reason, before starting to slip towards angry.

"But... Then... Why the hell didn't you tell me that before you made me think we might get together?"

Not the most tactful way to put it, admittedly, but she's not exactly thinking too clearly right now, and it's a fair question.

[Beans]

Nycca's face twists, partly in anger, mostly in derision.
I suppose I shouldn't have expected people to understand.
I just wanted to be with you before I left this world.
She starts pulling on some clothes.

[C'nor]

Talina frowns, reaching out to set a hand on her friend's shoulder.

"Wait... What I meant was 'Why didn't you tell me that was what you wanted from the start instead of letting me hope we might get together', not 'Why did you ask in the first place', okay? It just... I'm not at my best, so it came out badly."

[Beans]

She turns.
I'm sorry, I should have been better about that.
Nycca smiles sadly and goes to hug her.
I'll miss you, Talina. You're wonderful and a better person than I am, and I'm sure this will be hard.
But please, go back to sleep now.
She kisses her cheek, flexing her wings.

[C'nor]

Talina smiles back weakly, returning the hug, and stroking Nycca's wings.

"It's okay. And I'm not a better person than you are."

The healer rests her head on the Molossa's shoulder, burying her face into her neck.

"Stay with me for a while, okay?"

[Beans]

She bites her lip.
I...
A little more, dear.
I have to go soon.
Nycca hugs her tightly.

[C'nor]

"I know soon in a relative sense. Just... You seemed like you might be getting ready to go somewhere right now, and I need you with me if I'm going to even try to sleep."

[Beans]

She snuggles back into bed with her, rubbing her back and stroking her hair comfortingly.

[C'nor]

Talina smiles faintly, going to give Nycca a goodnight kiss.

[Beans]

She kisses her goodnight, smiling sadly and a little guiltily at what she knows she'll have to do.

[C'nor]

Talina stays quiet for a while, though she doesn't fall asleep just yet.

"Have you decided on a method yet?"

[Beans]

Oh, sweetie, you don't need to worry about it.
Just know I'm not going to do something messy or nasty.

If you are finding Nycca's mannerisms unsettling or downright scary, that's what I'm going for: portraying her lack of comprehension of just how much she'll hurt herself and everyone around her.

[C'nor]

"Alright. But if you haven't... My talents don't just extend to healing. If you're sure, I could make a poison for you; it would give you a couple of hours after you drank it to do anything you forgot to wrap up, or whatever else you wanted right before you died, and then you'd start to get drowsy, fall asleep, and die painlessly."

[Beans]

She kisses her forehead.
That's sweet of you to offer, honey.
But I have what I need; just go to sleep now.

((... I'm surprised Talina's offering, unless it's a ploy to dose her with something to help prevent her from doing it.))

[C'nor]

Talina nods, nestling against her; it'll take a while, and probably some more crying, but she will eventually fall asleep.

((It's not, since other than sedatives, something to make her high enough that she doesn't care, or a paralytic, Talina doesn't have anything I'm aware of that would help in the timeframe she's talking about with that, though she'll certainly be doing her best to figure out something to help over the time they have left together; she just wants to make sure that if Nycca does go through with this, she dies painlessly, and she trusts herself to be able to make something that will ensure that happens.))

[Beans]

((I hope Talina ends up, y'know, objecting Bowie-style when the time comes...))
When she wakes, Nycca is gone and the window is open.

[C'nor]

((She will. It's just that in case she can't manage to change Nycca's mind, she wants to know that she at least did everything she could to make sure her friend dies well; basically, she's hoping that it won't be necessary, but if it is, she feels it's better to have planned for it than to leave things to chance, if she has a choice.))

That's enough to set off a bit of a panic attack, though fortunately a very focused on; the healer immediately begins searching for anything that was once part of Nycca's body, or, failing that, some sort of item that she's handled a lot, especially one that she's attached to.

[Beans]

Some strands of hair are left; she can use those very easily.

[C'nor]

In that case, a divining to figure out where Nycca is and whether or not she's unharmed is quickly attempted.

[Beans]

She's apparently fine and is not very far away in the city; Talina will be able to find her.

[C'nor]

Talina relaxes a bit, putting on some clothes and heading out to do so.

[Beans]

Seems she's in a warehouse thingy a few blocks away!

[C'nor]

Talina, naturally enough, tries to head in after her, though she takes the time to slip on a steel ring carved with various unusual symbols first, which should bend light around her so that she seems to not be there, though there is a bit of distortion from it.

[Beans]

Nycca is sitting on top of an old, rusty car with patches of duct tape around the windows; she's got a hose taped up to the exhaust pipe and it's run through one of the windows.
She's got a bottle of what looks like sleeping pills; she twists the cap and shakes some into her hand, and looks to be about to take them.

[C'nor]

Talina hastily grabs her feather, and, if she can manage to get it out of her bag in time, tries to lift the sleeping pills out of Nycca's hand.

[Beans]

Nycca slips off the car to slide down the hood and land on her hands and knees, unbalanced by Talina's taking of the pills. She looks around, alarmed and agitated.

Talina slips off the ring, which, assuming she got that way in the first place, pops her out of invisibility, and runs over to Nycca, looking concenrned, sad, and somewhat angry.
