Checking in. How exactly do officer positions on the ship work? Is it like the Kingdom Roles in Kingmaker?

All the backgrounds seem to lean towards us being press ganged into the ship. My Touched by the Sea one had me get knocked unconcious from behind. I do not think we will get the choice work right off the bat. Of course later on the adventure who knows where an enterprising group of pirates can go.

That's the point. Campaign traits in any Adventure Path provide a reason for the character to get involved in the events of the campaign. And since this first adventure is a mutiny, they have to give us a reason to want our captain keelhauled or marooned, and what better way to do that then press-ganging?

To all games that are waiting on my response, I apologize. Recently I've stepped up my efforts to find a job and have started spending 12-15 hours a day walking around any town or city the bus can reach applying to everything under the sun. It doesn't leave much time for anything else.
Hopefully it won't come to that. Though if anyone DOES try something, The Qadiran will feel no remorse for cutting off their balls.

No, it won't come to that. I don't play in those types of games and I certainly won't run one. The enjoyment is in the story and I don't enjoy that type of story.
Um... What's a Garundi? I'm not terribly familiar with Golarion.
EDIT: Also, my archetype ability says the following:

Does that count when I'm on a ship? I'm more on the water than in it, I suppose, but still. It's the seaborn bloodline, and I'm on the deck of a ship, riding swells and with the smell of sea air in my lungs. I feel like that's close enough, but it's your call.

We are waiting for our DM to put up an update... we're at a place in the game that requires more DM interacting, we could RP amongst ourselves to some extent but the situation we're in is not the most condusive for PC conversation

That's correct. I don't post on the weekends or on holidays as that is time for me to spend with my wife and kids. Not to mention, I spent enough time on the computer with work since I was on-call this past weekend. I'll have a new post up shortly. As a side note, I will not be posting Thursday evening through Monday morning this coming weekend. Its my birthday and my wife has a big surprise lined up for me. I doubt I will have any computer time with whatever she has in mind.
