Eh, it was interesting, but yeah, seriously got outta hand after a while, even with some mad shortcuts to minimize GM work. =)
Nemo's approved, Renlan needs minor stat adjustment(starting int for an elf shouldn't be higher than 18), Rignar also looks good, Jim Dandee is good except for the Magebred template on the mule(it's from Eberron), Lyude is also approved(and kudos on the UMD. I'll assume the soulmeld is available at level one, because frankly, the book is all the way upstairs). Halon, if you swap to one of the phb races, you should also be good to go.
I know that's seven PCs, but hey, close enough, right? Got a good mix of folks, =)
In answer to the earlier question, just stock phb races for starters, sorry. Trying to keep the general feel somewhat less exotic with this game. Templates, racial variants, monster classes, etc are all available for alts after you've run into them in the world(this is both to encourage exploring and to skew the racial distribution more towards the std races).
Edit: Sure, Erik, lurk all you want. =)

Question: are we using Action Points? Could I use them, for the purpose of speeding up infusions?
EDIT: Also, could I treat Perform as a class skill? It's not for anything mechanical, I just would like to be able to play an instrument or two passably.

Sure, thats fine. I'll just change my stats back to normal elf stats. I understand wanting to keep options limited.
Actually, Renlan is old, which gives him a +2 to all mental stats (and a rather large constitution penalty of -5 as an elf).
Edit: Here are his attributes before racial adjustments, to compare.
Spoiler
STR 10
DEX 13
CON 15
INT 18
WIS 10
CHA 10
Completely missed that, that'll make everything line up. =)
Black Zawisza...I'm not using action points overall, but given that artificer is in the odd place of being able to use them for class features...I'd be ok with allowing them for those purposes only. This, of course, will be the same for anyone who picks up something that requires action points to work.

Oh, no need to apologize, I wasn't terribly clear on templates initially. =)

You almost make a grown man cry for missing this thread until now First missing the Red Claw adventure and now this! I rarely join games but have been looking to join a solid one for awhile now...just bad luck I guess. Hopefully you'll let me place a character on the side lines for when people drop off.
Working on something now...

Do it up. It's highly likely that either the scope of the game will expand in the future, or chars will die/stop being played, and replacements will be allowed in.
This goes for anyone who hasn't yet posted a char, too...If you've got an approved char, and there's no room, I'll pm you as soon as there is, and you'll be good to go.

How would you feel about a Shadowcaster? I've never been able to try it out and would love to give it a whirl here. I know it's not exactly as potent as other casters so was hoping you'd allow the fix that came from the author of the class (Mouseferatu): Here's the link In a nut shell, the main effect to start in this campaign would be that you get bonus "mysteries" (spells) based on your charisma like most casters along with some other minor tweaks.
Assuming you like it, here's my income roll: (3d4)[6]

I'm familiar, and a big fan of the Tome of Magic. Exotic classes are A-ok. Gotta have some diversity, after all. =)
Unfortunately, I'm fairly strict on the no-homebrew stuff...even truenamer doesn't get mods. That said, in terms of new spells, mysteries, utterances, etc, there will absolutely be possibilities to pick new ones up in game. So, there'll be at least slightly more support/variety for the classes that typically have short lists.

Posting interest as a druid for when you need a backup. Looks like you people could use some healers.
Characters sheet should be up in 10-15 minutes. (I keep a fairly large archive of characters of assorted levels.)
One question though: Let's say that a slot opens up after everyone is level 6. Do you intend to start all new characters at first level?

Cool! Thanks a lot!
Also, are cross-class skills in play? Could I treat Perform as a class skill?

You can def pick up cross class skills, if you like. I don't give out free class skills, but there are ways to get them. IIRC, there's a dragon feat that allows you to pick two skills as class skills(and gives a +1 to both).

Just so we're clear, when you say no-homebrew you mean not allowing the fix from the class author? I wasn't sure if that was particularly directed at my question or to the group in general. The only real gain at level 1 is the bonus casts per day based on Charisma....the rest is just long term fixes assuming we get a few levels. It's alright if you want to stick purely to the book though, I understand the slippery slope - but hey it's the original author of the class
Will we have access to scrolls/wands/etc of Shadow magic or other ToE sources? Just wondering if it'd be worthwhile to take Scribe Scroll if I had somewhere I could scribe mysteries down - it'd help a lot with the limited options of the class.

Yes, that's correct, I'm afraid.
The class author bit does make it more tempting, I admit(it's not an unreasonable modification), but still, I'd like to keep the number of sources I have to access down for manageability reasons. I've got all the books, but looking up oddball web sources is the kind of thing I'm likely to entirely forget about a bit in to the campaign.

Sure. I see no particular reason why anything that maps to some kind of spellcasting can't be baked into an item in some way. If there's a dedicated feat(like craft Djorie for psionics), use that...if there isn't one per se, use the closest feat you can find. Scrolls of mysteries strikes me as entirely reasonable.
If this is no longer recruiting, you might want to remove the currently recruiting tag from the title so more people like me and Drynwyn don't show up with created characters.
This image you have of European peasants huddled fearfully in decrepit hovels while packs of baby-eating wolves terrorize the countryside has no basis in reality.
Alright, fair enough. We'll see how a Shadowcaster does without the change (I've no idea either way, never tried it) I think my sheet is finalized then - left out a backstory for now but as the character develops I might throw something together once I get a feel for how he plays.
Let me know when I can join the fun...*nudge nudge wink wink* come on, what's just one more
...No seriously, one more

All new chars are indeed at first level...that said, I don't expect people to level up evenly. Some will undoubtably take riskier options and (if they survive them) get greater rewards. Soloing, for instance, tends to get faster XP gains than a proper sized party receives, but the risks are obvious. There's also a certain degree of randomness to some of the encounters(literally nothing is tailored to specific PCs). Kind of a simulationist approach really.
Anyone who posts a char at the moment will have it approved, and awaiting a slot, of course. Updated the thread tag to reflect that. Whichever approved char has been waiting the longest will have priority.
