Dave sees a few open windows a few levels up, but none low enough to climb into easily. However, they are unnecessary for entry, as the door opens with a loud creak as Collin turns the knob and pushes the door open.
Everyone:
In the center of the room, there is a large glass aquarium. There seems to be a dim light coming from it, enough to dimly light the entire room, though you cannot tell what is creating the light. Anyone who looks up notices that all of the floors open up to this room, with water feeding into the aquarium from floors above it.
Blake, Dave, Collin:
You easily make your way to the staircase. Aside from the above-mentioned glowing aquarium, there seems to be nothing of interest on this floor.
Mueki:
Try as you might, you can't seem to find the elevator. It may have been buried in debris, or maybe you're just not looking hard enough.
Mueki pouts in frustration and returns Ooraku, knowing he would be a hindrance when going up stairs. She joins the rest. "We should take the stairs... It's so high..." She pouts some more.

Shrugging, Blake replies to Mueki, "You were expecting the elevators to have power?" He turns to ascend the stairs, waiting for the others to join him.
You head up the staircase. Aside from whatever is inside the aquarium, there have been no signs of life of any form inside the hotel so far. Somewhere past the fourth floor, however, the stairs seem to have collapsed, leaving no apparent way to the fifth floor and beyond.
Dave walks over to the railing on the fourth floor and looks up "well we can wonder around for a way up or we can cut this short" he pulls out his rope "collin how good is maia at tying knots?"
Mueki looks at the stairs, aghast. "Are they stuck up there? No, no. There has to be another way up." Mueki's optimistic view on life couldn't mesh that they did not have a safe way to ascend and descend the building.

His thoughts filled with EARTH, Collin takes a second to register the words. "Um, she's a rock. With arms. That floats. Knot-tying is probably a little too much for her. She could probably carry a more clever 'mon over to tie the knot."
While planning on using a rope to make their way up the stairs further, Collin notices a dust-covered sign. It's hard to read, but it appears to say 'Maintenence Area. Employees only.'
Dave also seems to be having trouble remembering how to tie a knot himself, let alone teach the pokémon to do it.
Meanwhile Dave teaches Slasher knot tying and makes a startling discovery "and thats how you do it now you try" slasher looks down at his hands and then it hits Dave "dang it mew would it have been too much to ask to give more mon thumbs" he puts away the rope "well that was a waste of 5 minutes do you think we can squeeze enough juice from the apricorn to boost maia's smarts we need a mon with thumbs for this... collin?... what are you looking at?"
Mueki might of had a better chance of finding something if she wasn't so distracted by Collin staring piercingly at a section of wall that appeared to be covered with dirt. "Umm... What's over there?"

"leave it to dirtboy to find something buried in dirt 4 stories in the air if there is a ladder or stairs behind that door I'm gonna bag my wallet and dip it in mud so I'll never lose it again" says Dave jokingly
As Collin opens the door, the first thing everyone notices is that the lack-of-life they had observed so far is no longer present: There are ducks and pelicans scattered throughout the hallway on the other side of the door. The carpet appears wet as well. This hallway seems more damaged than most of the hotel you have seen so far, but it seems more sturdy than the stairs you were attempting to climb further.
