Now we do some character tweaking, additional backstory stuffs, and general goofing off while we wait.
To kick things off, I was wondering whether we knew each other before the story starts, and if so, how? I was thinking that Mutt might know Ophelia, as a fellow homeless beggar.
EDIT: Can I also say that I find it amusing that the two team "tanks" both have the shrinking power.

Well, Blues and I already have a tied background, characters from the same school classes and unlikely friends (geeky kid and school beauty). And according to what we have we've been working for a few months, at least, as a hero team. So we could have encountered almost any of you as well, in costume or out, without ever knowing it.

I am sorry for the added delay. Life is really busy right now with the school year starting again. I will try to have the IC thread up as soon as possible.
Hey, is there something we can do to help start this up? Or should I just keep thinking up little short stories involving my character that I can mention later in character?

I started playing D&D in the late 70's right after the release of the first hard cover books. I slowly branched out into other games as the years went by. My first experience with supers roleplaying games was the original Marvel game. My first online gaming experience was a chat based game I ran to test the newly released 3rd edition rules - that went on for more than two years. After that scheduling was becoming difficult with different players scattered all over the country and graduate school wasn't helping, my playing became limited to only play-by-post forums. I've made lots of mistakes as a GM and learned a lot of things along the way, though I know there's still plenty to learn.
The most important factor for getting an online game to work is having a group that connects beyond their characters. This format isn't the easiest way to make friends - all too often text leaves a lot of room for misinterpretation. One of the things that I picked up from a fellow gamer a way back was to assume the best intentions behind any post to minimize the number of misunderstandings.
That said, fear not Edro, the panels were just for added effect on the big picture opening post. I will possibly bring them back from time to time to remind us all that we are playing a comic book game here. However the regular game play will follow traditional play-by-post back and forth.
So we've got what is at least four pages worth of panels before the story begins? That is assuming 9 panels per page maximum.
Gotta agree with Edro, no matter how long ago you started rping, this is kinda not getting the effect you want. It drags me out of the game, when you should be pulling me in.

Wow. 100% of reviews are bad - thats not a hopeful way to start a game. And what happened with the forum crashing this morning that got me three copies of the background post (fixed)?
Anyway, I'm disappointed that it backfired so spectacularly with you guys. I've had better luck in the past, like I said there's always new people so there's always more to learn.
Onward and outward, then!

I dunno, I thought the panel sequence was a good start. It gives us snapshots of the city before being dropped into the setting. Gives me an idea of who and what is where in Cathedral without some of the boring of exposition. Perhaps a little more descriptive panels would've been cool, but overall I would rate it a pretty decent start.
Then again, I may be biased in that I like to imagine in comic book panels anyways, when playing a superhero game.

Thanks , Bladesmith. That was what i was going for with that intro. I too like visualizing the scenes that way for these types of games.
Okay looks like we're only going to have four to start. I'm having a lot of trouble with accessing the forums. So please be patient with me. I don't plan on giving up but I am hoping this is a temporary situation, and I'm not going to keep having issues.
