Re: Cormyr: The Tearing of the Weave [Pathfinder, Forgotten Realms, Recruiting]
Good to see the terrible circumstances of your sudden departure have subsided and turned around a bit.
Regrettably I was not aware of the thread soon enough to have posted before said deadline, but I'm glad to see that the project is back up and running.
Good luck to all and enjoy.

Re: Cormyr: The Tearing of the Weave [Pathfinder, Forgotten Realms, Recruiting]
Hey Tevin,
Sorry to hear that, truly a harrowing experience. Listen, I had originally submitted a character, but deleted it a few weeks back (I wasn't terribly happy with it either). WOuld I be able to resubmit something? Otherwise, no worries, I understand.

Certainly if you can get something together by Monday night I'll consider it for inclusion in the game.
Thanks for all the well wishes everyone, it means a lot.

From what I've seen, even Paizo's designers don't know how Flurry of Blows is supposed to work.
Flurry of blows seems fairly straight forward to me. You use your monk level as your base attack when making a flurry of blows but with a -2 penalty. If you're only taking monk levels the bonuses on the FoB chart is what you use as your b.a.b. for all flurry attacks. That's why at 1st level your flurry bonus is -1 (1 base attack for your monk level -2) and why it is 18 at level 20 (20 base attack for your monk level -2). Not sure what the exact source of your confusion is but if you elaborate maybe I can help you figure it out.
Re: Cormyr: The Tearing of the Weave [Pathfinder, Forgotten Realms, Recruiting]
That part made sense later, but it's more a problem of the Flurry of Blows errata fixing nothing and adding huge problems (see long angry threads here, on the Paizo boards, and elsewhere). By RAW the Zen Archer is no longer functional, and the devs even admitted it.
Re: Cormyr: The Tearing of the Weave [Pathfinder, Forgotten Realms, Recruiting]
Hey Tevin,
I just reused my rolls from earlier in the thread, and I've got the crunch done. I'll update the story and background this evening.
Aasimar Cleric of Sune, Lisandra Elsinore. I'll make her a Priest if you allow the 3rd party character class on the SRD site, but I'm happy to leave her a Cleric if not.
Re: Cormyr: The Tearing of the Weave [Pathfinder, Forgotten Realms, Recruiting]
Had to stay late at work to take care of month-end business, but Gideon Kaide, Human Magus is complete.

And it was rude of me to neglect to wish you and your girlfriend well following your recent events. For what it's worth, I do wish her a full recovery.
Re: Cormyr: The Tearing of the Weave [Pathfinder, Forgotten Realms, Recruiting]
I realize it may be too late, but I haven't had a chance to fill out the background yet. I got everything else done just now, but that's the last piece. In any event, if you're considering taking my character I'll get the background done tomorrow.
Eitri was always a serious child, an oddity among the Inguaakalikurit. A society that lives in the moment, where heroes fade after two generations into obscurity. And in this society, Eitri instead thought to the future.
Eitri learned all of what his tribe had to offer. The path of a warrior, the path of a hunter. He learned riddling with the other children, applying his patient mind to overcome them. Eventually. And he thought, equally patiently, on his tribes quirks and patterns.
At 50 years of age, young Eitri thought of the tribes commitment to the community, how a warrior would give his life to protect it even knowing he would not be remembered long. In order for life to continue, at least one dwarf must put others lives before his own. Eitri looked down at his arms, saw the power he had within them, and realized that the power he had forced him to make a choice; accept his role and protect others over himself, or reject it and live for himself. He once again considered, but the answer was made for him. A great danger faced his people, and without thinking Eitri put his own life on the line in order to protect them. Yet he made a choice that caused his people to shun him. Eitri left his people, safe, and never returned.
Jungle (Entry)
Spoiler
Eitri plows through the undergrowth steadily, most of his companions behind him struggling to keep up. Variel, a sharp-eyed air genasi former thief, and Thom, a shaman from the wild and the only one keeping pace with Eitri, had both noticed someone watching them, but they weren't certain whether it was friend or foe. Eitri left the sneaker to them and concentrated on clearing the way for them and Etune and Mazon, a halfling sorceress and a gray orc warrior woman, respectively.
The jungle was a dangerous place, and that was why Eitri was there. He went where he felt he was needed most. The others had their own motivations; ranging from self preservation to greed to goodwill, and Eitri didn't really care one way or another about why they were there. They were watching his back and that was enough. If only they would do something about that spy scrambling after them...
Jungle (Encounter)
Spoiler
As far as wake up calls go, being tickled in the nose with a spear was not one of the best Eitri had ever experienced. Depressingly, neither was it one of the worst. It was a good thing they'd planned for this.
Etune lowered the veil she'd put up to hide herself, Thom and Variel, and Mazon sprang up from her bedsheets fully clothed. The illusions where the others forms had been melted away.
They were fast, but Eitri was closer to the attacker. In the surprise following the commotion, Eitri slapped the spear aside and erupted from the ground, closing in and grabbing the wrist of his attacker. He looked more closely and...
Huh. It was a woman. A naked woman. A naked, dwarven woman, with almost wild eyes and hair, holding a wooden spear. Well, that caught Eitri off guard, which probably explains how she was able to kick him in the face. Eitri staggered a bit, but remained standing and kept a hold of her wrist. She was... very flexible, and kept trying to escape. [Why are you following us?] he asks in dwarven. She looks momentarily surprised, and frowns down at him. Eitri continues, [Why did you point your spear at me?]. She speaks in what seemed to be a dialect of dwarven, but Eitri has some difficulty keeping up. Eitri knits his brow, thinking.
Jungle (Fight)
Spoiler
He'd gotten his wish. Eitri was standing in front of a snake man that meant to kill a lot of people, and already had started. He didn't hesitate. He felt Thom and Etune's spells wash over him, granting him strength, and shared a fierce grin with Mazon. Variel had already disappeared, but he'd pop up soon enough. He bounded forward, axe whirling - and was met by another snake man's sword. He tried to over power the new foe, but had little leverage. Mazon was already trading blows with the priest, and came away with half a dozen minor cuts. Eitri concentrated on the task at hand. The soldier was strong and, well, quick as a snake. When he tried putting the pressure on, his blows were turned aside. He was stubborn though, and he focused on a single spot. He attacked, again and again, the same spot, with all his force behind it. His blows kept getting turned aside, but the snake-man was tiring. It needed to change the game. Eitri saw it coming, so when it whipped it's head forward to bite him, he cut it off at the neck.
Back to the priest. Mazon's cuts had worsened, and she was breathing heavily. Eitri streaked across the field. He saw that he hadn't been the only one busy, as the other 7 yuan-ti lay around dead or dying, but he payed it no mind. The priest looked around and made a quick decision, slithering into the undergrowth.
Eitri felt himself being held back, and turned to look at Mazon gripping his arm. "Come on, we have to go after him!"
Mazon shakes her head and collapses.
Etune looked worried, screaming, "Thom, help her!"
Thom got right to work. Her wounds had been poisoned, and she needed immediate and prolonged attention in order to survive.
Eitri looks off, frustrated, into the woods, but knows he won't be able to keep up with the snake-man. "Come on then. Maybe the jungle dwarves will help." A sled is fashioned, and Eitri does his best to get her into the carriage, and they set off, hoping for a miracle.
Moonstars
Spoiler
Eitri watched the struggle silently. He'd seen the woman being drawn into the shadows, and he'd moved to help, but this man had been quicker. He seemed competent, but he had half a dozen foes and he didn't see the man at his back with a knife.
Eitri did, and he came crashing down on the knife wielder, slaying him instantly. The other concerned citizen danced, his own knife appearing in hand, and killed two of the attackers while Eitri chopped the legs out from under another. The remaining attackers scattered, and the woman was long gone.
Dwarf and man locked eyes for a moment, standing amongst the dead bodies. The stranger opened his mouth to speak first, "You didn't have to help me. Why did you?"
Eitri grunts, saying "Someone had to."
This answer seems to surprise the man, as all he can say is, "... What?"
"Someone had to help. I was here. So I did."
The man looked at the bodies, pursing his lips. "I think I should invite you to meet someone I know. I think anyone willing to help a complete stranger will be welcomed."
Eitri looked at them as well. The cuts on the two he hadn't touched were very neat, very precise. "What exactly do you mean?"
The man licked his lips, saying, "Only that there is a group of people willing to put their lives on the line to save others, and I think you'd be welcome to join. Are you interested?"
A group of people like Eitri? People who'd come to the same conclusion he did? Well, yeah, he was interested. "Sounds interesting. Where to then?"
Of course, it wasn't so simple as that...
Wheloon
Spoiler
Investigate Wheloon. Pretty simple orders. Eitri wasn't even really certain if he'd become a full member yet, but he was sure they wouldn't want him speaking of what else he'd done so far. Secret societies are a pain. Eitri saw the notice, and was interested. "A riddle? That's odd. Is that something they would want me to check out?" Eitri scratches his beard, looking at the notice. Well, it couldn't hurt to check.
