Okay, thanks. Natalia knows pretty much nothing about Glister. And...Yeah, they're unlikely to have random nice things like tanglefoot bags, though wire, tools, and some very basic magic items shouldn't be too much of a problem. What do they have of: Tanglefoot bags, wire, caltrops, oil, flour, torches, acid, alchemist's fire, thunderstones, marbles or something else slippery, and maybe scrolls/potions/one dusty magic item in the back?
I'm sorry if this is too much to ask.
No tanglefoot bags, magical items(beyond the absolute basics), caltrops, acid(besides basic cleaning solvents), or alchemists fire. Wire is extremely rare and expensive as discussed. You have more wire on your arm then in the town in its entirety, as there is no electricity nor need for it, makes the demand for wire low. The have barrels of oil, basic tools, flour, and other basic necessities.
Minimal scrolls, potions, and no significant magical items.
They do have a lumber mill, as wood is their prime export.
One small bag of glass marbles, meant as a children's toy.

So much for dreams of vast traps. I guess we can set some things on fire and cause some explosions, trigger traps so stuff drops on the orcs, snares...The marbles would have anyone walking in a 5 foot square make a balance check or fall prone/move at half speed/deny dex bonus or penalize it, right? There's not nearly as much as Natalia and I would like, but we can do something with it. Lumber mill...We could barricade off parts of the town, and force the orcs to walk into booby trapped territory. What are the scrolls and potions?
I have to go to sleep now; my first class tomorrow is organic chemistry. Wish me luck!

Those are all much more reasonable, though the marvels will only work on a hard surfaces not on ground.
Fire traps, a palisade, some snares, lines of fire, are much more doable.

Perfect. They've got lots of rope, right? We'll toss flour and a lit torch to cause an explosion, have a trail of oil lead wherever we want, Natalia's still got the poisoned caltrops, perhaps a trap where an orc gets caught in a snare and yanked up into the air, dropping several pounds of tools and wood on the orc next to him, and maybe the rope's soaked in oil and flint is attached to the underside of it so it sparks as the pulley trap goes off...Let's torch some orcs!

That was a bit tough to follow.
You have a couple hundred feet of rope in total, mainly used in the lumber process, thick, corse hemp rope.
You have enough caltrops for a five foot square.
Flour as an explosive, range increment 10 thrown weapon, d4 Fire damage, DC 10+ throwers Int reflex save for half. Affects only one five foot square.
How are you going to fling orcs in the air and have tools fall on them?
Flint will likely not ignite oil, oil is notoriously hard to light, it'd take a sustained flame. A flaming oil trough to separate orcs will work. I'm sure there is also a supply of lamp oil, or possibly a kerosine which would light better for things like molotove cocktails.

Sorry about that, I was really hasty to go to sleep. Natalia can work with that. And thanks Kurt; pits with spikes was another plan!

Actually, I have two bags of caltrops and the marbles. Most of the orcs will make the fort save for the poison but someone's rolling a 1 eventually, and strength damage is devastating to barbarians.

So if Natalia throws it, is it DC 14 or DC 28? There's no way they're making the second save but even the first one's going to be a bit tricky for them all to make, especially if they're entangled in snares and are in the field of caltrops.

Snares attached higher up, and maybe the other end is weighted down by a heavy sack of something that is then released on that square or the one next to him.

Perfect. Perhaps some traps could be lined with stakes and others could be coated in oil.
Oh, by "allies' strength," Natalia's basically asking what level and class everyone who can be expected to fight for Linwood is. That's appropriate to ask, right?

Not really, as it is total meta knowledge. Expect almost all guards are lvl1 and veterans are lvl2 warriors, so 4-9 HP. An exceptional guard may actually have PC levels as do the exceptional Orcs. Pound for pound almost a match for Orc Pups and Orcs, though the higher Str of the orcs gives them a large advantage.
They would talk about strength as numbers of men, maybe mentioning veterans, sergeants, captains, etc tend to be higher NPC levels or possibly class levels.

Coffee,
asking for NPC level is like asking a woman her weight or her age .....
Set a trap to get a bunch in the same area, with flammable objects around them. Then Mithril could cast burning hands on the oil to start a chain reaction of fire.
EDIT: I am assuming the history part of Hulburg stands true for our world to?

And matches or lit lamps where she can't reach.

Okay, thanks. Do Henry and Max have class levels? Max mentioned he was part of a group so I think he does, and from Henry's comment about tracking I have a feeling he may be a 1st level ranger. Are my thoughts correct?
And the higher leveled orcs are all barbarians, right? Orc veterans are level 2 and Orc leaders are level 3?

You already have too much information. Most of those assumptions are correct, but always what happens when you assume too much.
Yeah, you're right. Okay, got it. I was just wondering based on HP totals and my own curiosity. And yeah, I liked that one a lot.
Coffee,
here is an advice from a veteran gamer: stop focusing on level and HP and so on. It will detract you from enjoying the game to its fullest.
I remember a player who joined my table top game I was running a few years back and I would introduce a monster and he would recite the stats and keep would play accordingly. For example he would know the HP of a monster and would keep attacking against what make sense in the game because 'it only has 3HP left, all we need is a hit" or he would know the modifier for a monster and would engage or not based on that.
He only lasted a session with me and we did not have a great time that day.
So focus on the game in game without worrying about level and HP and AC. Read the DM description and based on what your character know, make the decision.
I'm sorry. I'm just trying to put things in relative perspective, since I'm new to this. I want to make sure I don't do something chaotically suicidal because I didn't know how strong a monster was when Natalia should know or something like that.

I know. But I believe that if we think you are biting more than you can chew, we will tell you.
Also Zman is a good DM. It will not punish you for doing something out of noobiness. Out of stupidity, of course but not out of noobiness.
Listen to Achina, though I disagree with being called an It.....
Apologies GREAT DM! I am so sorry I called you a it. You are THE MAN and we all know that. We kiss the dice you roll and the paper sheet you use for your maps, oh mighty DM.
Speaking of playing by character I am playing a bard in another PbP and she is going toward some very odd music even though it is killing her because I kinda said she would be obsessed with music.

Like I've had a barbarian increase his power attack penalty while raging after continually missing a ridiculous AC opponent, he kept missing and it pissed him off, so he swung even harder...actually that's a descent analogy for my golf game...
I like how I had to go through like three pages of posts to find one that wasn't for this game! We do in a day what most IC threads do in a week!

Also, while I was making up Natalia's characterization, I stumbled upon this Hunger Games fanfic, and it's worth a read. You might find the first couple parts somewhat familiar...
Posting will be a little slow from me for the next few days. I am finishing all my packing tomorrow and then from friday to sunday I am in freshman orientation.

Good luck! As I've said several times before, college is fantastic.
It sounds like we're gonna split the party. Natalia and Mithril are shoring up Linwood's defenses and trapping the town, Shiny's headed to Hulburg to petition for aid, and I guess Kurt, Miriam, and Valen can decide where they want to go. And we've got to interrogate this orc leader before killing him, we need to know more about the hooded man.
