Pyro can airblast, as well. Mostly, the best tactic to stopping any Giant is the same as stopping a Sentry nest or a Tank: send multiple people at once to gang up on it.
...Also, how/why do people resell keys at half their Mann Co. price? Unless there's a source of free keys somewhere, isn't someone losing cash somewhere down the line?

If memory serves, Valve sells the keys cheaper in some locations. Something to the tune of 1.20$ or 1.30$ if I remember correctly. Either way, people buy them cheap there, and then trade them around to others for in-game goods or games.

Engineer is potentially the strongest class, but the level of proficiency it requires to make an offensive push as Engineer (even with a pre-built L3 Sentry or the ridiculously-fast-building Mini-Sentry) is much higher than you can expect on a public server.
Plus, it was on Dustbowl. I've seen some crazy offensive Engineer antics on Dustbowl, but without a team that can take out guarded Level 3 Sentries on the point, it's not happening.
Engineer is also one of the more frustrating classes to play... besides the lack of choice in your loadout (three weapons for the primary and secondary slots, four for melee, disregarding any weapons with only cosmetic differences), you have to spend a lot of time to get set up without getting much of a result... people focus their firepower on you, may get upset if you don't have all your stuff built right away, and you can kiss your combat effectiveness goodbye if your allies don't realize that you're just as bad at holding positions alone as they are. Half the time it's like you're trying to pull the weight of a Heavy-Medic pair while also taking twice as much fire.
Plus, an Uber can set an Engineer back by possibly even a minute, while it'll only set back the other classes by about the time it takes to respawn (except for a Medic caught in the fire, who may or may not have lost a significant amount of his own Uber).

There's four engy primaries, but yeah: the biggest engineer frustration is a dearth of equipment.
Re: [Steam]-y Thread XXX: Throwing titles out the window!
people buy keys from the mann co store for several reasons.
1) Don't know any better
2) Don't / Can't use paypal
3) Don't have the rep (the necessary credentials needed to buy keys from a trader from paypal, since every trader knows there is an inhereant risk in trading with a stranger)
4) Fear of the TOS or EULA. As far as I can tell Steam won't delete all of your games from your account like, say, EA, but who wants to take that risk.
But, as I said a few pages ago, the primary reason to pay full price for keys from the Mann Co store is to activate an account and then liquidate the keys. I know people who have purchased 1000 keys from the store for this reason. (well, they claim to have a 500 premium account farm)
Re: [Steam]-y Thread XXX: Throwing titles out the window!
5) Convinience and Not Caring
If you buy 5 keys a month, you would save about 6 USD when trading. For that you have to find some dude who trades, and then give him personal information. That saves you roughly the equivalent of 2-3 Tall Latte coffees at Starbucks. For the risk of losing a lot of money because of violation of TOS/EULA.

It's okay to have more than one engi on offensive, if it buffs up players or corners red. But it drove me crazy that he changed class a few moments after I did, when it was obvious that he was the only engi left.

In about half an hour I'll regret what I wrote above. But right now I think it's funny.

Man, that is annoying. I pick my class based on team needs, if there is no heavy, I go heavy, if there is no engineers, I go Engi, if there are no snipers I go sniper (happened ONCE in my last...20 hours of pug play? lol).
I go that class, I do well and then I see 4 people as my class with a lack of *insert class here*, I switch and everyone switches with me -.-.

I have a history of succesful trades, the only loss of items comes from dealing with scammers.
Re: [Steam]-y Thread XXX: Throwing titles out the window!
So, today, we get two more operations for Mann vs. Machine (plus crate 49).
I'm about to play one of the missions of Operation Gear Grinder, and I'm so excited!
EDIT: Okay, Operation Oil Spill is basically the Mann Up easy mode, while Gear Grinder is tears. So many tears. But its extreme difficulty is kind of fun, in a way.

Re: [Steam]-y Thread XXX: Throwing titles out the window!
I believe Steam's EULA was changed a while back to discourage cash-for-goods trading, to head off people potentially making a business out of buying games on sale en masse and then selling the resulting "gift" copies at profit. Read a certain way, it could also apply to selling keys for real-world currency ... or it could just mean "don't gripe to us if you get scammed, you weren't supposed to do that in the first place."

Yeah. They mind you selling games. Trading keys is safe, with understanding they won't go for scammer if you used outside of Steam payment, they might if you were scammed using Steam items, though. At least AFAIK.

If you see anyone with Diamond Botkiller guns and/or a Gear Grinder badge, salute them. They're freaking badass. Desperation (Decoy's Expert mission) starts with 12 fast-Uber/Soldier combos, and adds in Giant Demoknights. I haven't gotten past the first wave.

I know a lot of people who would consider it cheating, but I'm not sure if you can get banned for that kind of thing. I'd say probably not, just because they don't have the time, but I've heard mixed answers about it.

Yeah, there are players scattered around. The problem is, Dota threads die out because there is not a lot of discussion to be had (unlike a certain other game). We might be better off just making a Dota 2 group on Steam and go from there.

I wouldn't say that at all. DotA2 has plenty of strategy and esport discussion to be had. It's really more the smaller community surrounding it that kills the threads due to it being a closed beta right now.

Indeed it has, but there are not enough playgrounders that are discussing the game, thus no discussions are had.
