Well, might be doable, but I find headshotting anyone with it at long range to be hard, especially repeatedly, plus hitbox clipping issue I mentioned, which might make it very hard to hit his head box.

150 bullets, 10 per second, 15 seconds to spend the clip. Longer than the amount he stays vulnerable. Also, syringes disperse at mid-long range. Another case of pure DPS failing to provide realistic figure.

Sniper? I move into position, one second before I judge I'll shoot I press mouse button, aim, release, change position. Often I heard damage "ping" 3-4 seconds later, when I was halfway to medpack or ammo box, or camping usual prop positions because I knew my shoot sent him past 50%. I can corner dodge, keeping me alive. Compared to above, you need no windows of opportunity, tiny amount of effort, you're mobile at all times and hitting at long range. 2 second reloading time on Huntsman is little issue, as half/third of these will happen when Merasmus teleports anyway.

Snipers can carry a few idlers and bad players on pubs without handpicked teams, if you grab a few UGC players it might be doable even with Demoknights or bat Scouts, I guess, but I haven't had that luxury. I am saying what can, and will happen on pub.

Aaaand now that I just signed up for the Beta for the Linux version of Steam, I now have a reason to participate in this thread!
I've been running it through WINE, but it has been... ummm... a trial. I got Terraria to run, but that was only with several hours of convincing it to work, and even then, multiplayer didn't work. I got Portal to work, usually.
I have PvZ from PopCap itself, rather than through Steam. Is there any multiplayer things for PvZ that would make the Steam version worth getting?
When Sanctum went with a free trial over a weekend, I got it to work, but the game was so convoluted that I'm not going to pay money for it.
My buddy got me WH40k:DoW2 and the followup packs for it, but I can't get it to work at all. XCOM demo failed to run as well.

Does anybody else hate it when you're trying to kill a Halloween boss, but one idiot on the server has to go around backstabbing/sniping everybody on the other team?

Some more notes on Merasmus after tests:
Ambassador doesn't get 3x headshot Sniper has - krit damage 218. Also, I tried to time vulnerable periods on Merasmus - you can only put ~4 shots from revolver/scatter into him then. Meaning, 600-800 damage. Compared to Sniper's 2000-3000, well...
I also tested a range of guns - and on Spy/Scout/Engie/Pyro their melees actually deal more DPS than primaries (and meleeing him is a bad idea - that should say something). Though, still not worthwhile DPS amount. Even with 4 vulnerable periods, you barely took half of his 5000 extra HP - sorry, just bad. Sniper can do his 1080s at will.
Engie with wrangler, dispenser and teleport deals so-so damage, but at least he nicely contributes rearming allies and cutting killed downtime, something that can't be said about other deadweights. Still, 2 engies max. Any more and it's Sisyphus' time.
Also, I found Monkeynaut and Bat from Hell. Anyone wants?

Eh.... Don't be that guy. It's one thing if a lot of other people are already goofing off, but if there's a coordinated effort to take him down, don't be the one guy who's being a jerk about it.

Yeah... I'm perfectly happy to help people between attacks, like one Sniper who wanted headshots on his Bazaar Bargain before Merasmus came back, but there's nothing fun about one jerk ruining the game for everyone else. There are servers where people decide not to focus Merasmus. Join those instead.

I don't join any servers (Atleast, I don't go to the server tab or anything) I just use the matchmaking system, grab my knife and wrist watch, and let random luck do it's thing.

You can select a specific server. This is good if you're looking for a specific map, or you have a community you belong to (We used to have a server for the GitP crowd up... Is Chocolate Hammer still running?)

You can go to the normal list of servers and filter by the koth_lakeside_event map. It also works for MVM if you filter by mvm_. I can't answer your second question because I haven't done matchmaker since about the third day of MVM. Then again I've never joined random games, just the servers I have in my favorites list.
