Welcome to the Invasion of Toril. Hopefully everyone decides to participate. Any questions that you may have please ask. I would like for everyone to roll their own rolls in the IC forum inside a spoiler, also please limit posts to one spoiler and put everything in it.
Well hello everyone, and congratulations on making it into the game.
Will call Blue

So, I have a question right away. How are we to write the verbal components of our spells? Should we use standard english ala OotS, or should we use another language?

Just have your character say something when casting a spell, then in a spoiler section list the name of the spell and any rolls needed for it.
Dark Orchid seems orc-ish, maybe? No...maybe not, but it CAN be!

obviously I just don't know how to use the roller, lol
Sorry if my IC post is needlessly complicated/if-then-y, until the end of the week I may get caught unable to check in as frequently as I'd like (meaning about once a day, worst-case.)

Alright, due to recent issues in another campaign I want to limit everyone to one action per round of posts. I am in another campaign with archmage1 and he will probably agree on this. When people do too many things before others post it gets way out of hand. I just want to prevent this from happening early on.
I am only going to post responses after every user has posted in a round, or around a day has past since I posted last. I will respond to everyone's actions in the order that they took them, and they will take place in that order.
I'm not going to say that you have to post in any specific order, just 1 post IC per round, which will start by me posting and end with me posting and thus starting a new round. This is the best way that I can think of that creates some order to the campaign, if you have a better idea I am welcome to suggestions.
I should note that my actions fit in a round - I took two move actions to make a Spot and a Listen check.
Suggestion about how to pace this: if the rounds aren't a problem (nobody risks too much by missing a round, like it would happen if we were in combat), you can have people miss rounds - just update the IC post every day or so, with the actions people performed.

I do agree, that one action per round is fair. However, out of combat, it should become a bit less restrictive, so long as everyone does about the same amount of stuff in each post, that should work.
But, I do agree that we should try to wait for everyone to post before continuing. This will slow the game down, so a suggestion: If you are reading the current posts, and have nothing to say, reply in the OOC, that way we should be able to keep the PBP moving.
I suggest 24 hours in between posts max during combat, and 48 hours out of combat.

I agree that out of combat posting should be a handled differently, but I don't want to slow down the game too much. I am still limiting the in combat and out of combat rounds to 24 hours. I don't believe too much is going to happen out of combat in a single round.
But, I will make an exception for more drastic location/movements of the entire party, such as leaving a building, teleporting, or boarding a boat. For those such cases I will allow 48 hours for people to either convince the party to stay at the current location or finish up whatever they need to do before changing location. After which point your character will quietly follow behind the rest of the party.
Don't assume that a 48 hour period will always apply to a situation, I will post on the OOC thread when it does apply, because I might not apply it if I know that the movement isn't going to affect much.

and... sadly, I will be gone for around 3 hours from now. O well. Hopefully, we will get more responses before then

Mucco brings up a good point, so without revealing anything you couldn't see anyway:
Krgg's physical description!
Spoiler
The orc before you is truly a terror to behold, standing head and shoulders above most around him without a hair on his head. He wears an eyepatch bearing the symbol of Gruumsh over his left eye. His full-plate armor is immaculatly cared for and bears the design of flames etched into the metalwork wrapping around his entire body. More fearsome yet is the black blade he carries at his side, a massive curved blade that seems to drink the light. His right eye, orange like the flames on a thatched roof, peers through you, measuring your worth.

Well you wouldn't really know each others names. So I just lightly described each PC, assuming that you would know that one of them is your PC, instead of repeating the same description 5 times over.
I'm about to lock up and leave the office, so I won't be around for the rest of the night (it's 6pm here right now)...I SHOULD be done house-sitting after tomorrow, so I may not get a chance to post again until Sunday...Monday at the absolute worst (but probly Saturday night or Sunday).

spellcraft modifier is the same as knowledge arcana.
tracks =\= how burned through a torch looks.
I imagine dungeoneering would include knowing a thing or two about torch duration.

Knowledge (dungeoneering) seems relevant, yes. But tracking is the only skill about searching for clues of someone's passage, and it includes modifiers for time - you'll get a -1 for every 24 hours and so on. I imagine that the character looking at a torch to determine how long it's been burning is more of the tracker type, rather than the guy who knows about gelatinous cubes.
Of course, both are relevant. I guess I just like rules debates.
