Stay safe. Hope we don't get that Nor'easter.

Please everybody update the encumbrance ape on the wiki, so that we can see if we can bring everything.

Thirdkingdom already replied about the cart. However, Daprophet, your character has some problems with encumbrance. If you need help figuring something out, just ask.
About encumbrance, I suppose that the houseruled +50 cn for each strength bonus is repeated each stage, so that a a character with a +1 bonus to strength would have the following table:
up to 450 cn=40', 451-900 cn=30', 901-1350 cn=20', 1351-1800 cn=10', 1801-2700 cn=5'
Thirkindom, is this correct?
Re: [Dark Dungeons -- BECMI Retroclone]In Search of Adventure OOC
The ape is correct for Arcturis and Sonja. I'd say we load ourselves so that everyone can keep up withe the fully loaded wagon - whatever movement rate that it?

Re: [Dark Dungeons -- BECMI Retroclone]In Search of Adventure OOC
As per my most recent post IC, I will be writing some stuff up and posting it on the wiki for a wizard's guild. FYI, I tend to be a little more draconian about spells and magic than my be normal; magic is a thing jealously guarded by those able to do it, and not readily shared. You guys might be able to get some spells out of Zoltar, but it would definitely be more of an "accept this quest kind of thing", and significantly more of a challenge than the troglodyte removal.
By the way, I have no issue with the spellcasters in the party trading spells, though I must insist that it be done on a one for one basis. Learning spells, rather through trading, gleaning from old books, or just pure research shall be done as per page 146 of the Dark Dungeons book. Having access to the Guild library will increase the number of available spells to learn; I also will likely apply some modifier to either the chance to learn a spell or the cost of doing so. Also, as a magic-user gains levels he merely gains the ability to cast more spells; not automatic knowledge of new spells. Play has been fairly fast paced, with not much down time. This should be changing soon, as both spellcasters study and fighters practice with weapons.
Please let me know if you would like plot hooks regarding a specific goal: learning new spells, gaining specific items, etc. Such custom hooks may require a slight (10-50 gp) expenditure to make loose tonques wag.
Re: [Dark Dungeons -- BECMI Retroclone]In Search of Adventure OOC
Great. Also, magic users of such a low level should have masters to whom they are apprenticed, right? Ganelon's is far away in the capital, so he'll either have to travel there or find another way to learn spells, but the master/apprentice thing would be the most common way for a low-level BECMI mage to get spells, especially the new level spells, I think.

Just because it's not in your written backstory doesn't mean it doesn't exist. He's also said (in that old school thread in the general roleplaying section) that he likes those things developed in play.
The Guild does sound interesting.

Correct. I fully expect details like the master/apprentice relationship, past history and experiences, setting knowledge, etc. to appear during play. If something is way out of line or doesn't fit the setting I'll nudge it a little here or there, but for fluff like this I like the players to have as much input as possible.
In my mind, the expectation for elves is that they are essentially inherently magical. Spells an elf has at first level are not necessarily the result of a formal master/student relationship but instead could simply be the result of picking things up at home, in their village, etc.
Re: [Dark Dungeons -- BECMI Retroclone]In Search of Adventure OOC
Arcturis will be interested in the Guild option too. No OOC reason we shouldn't trade spells where possible too, though we mostly have the same ones, unfortunately. Now IC, we may not be that far along in our relationship yet...
Erm, never mind. Just checked the wiki and we all have the same spells. Oh well.

Well, don't take my absent wondering for truth, but I assumed someone would stay outside to watch and that we could watch them through the window. But I don't actually know.

Sounds reasonable, I'll buy that. At least some of you will have to sleep outside, anyways.
Re: [Dark Dungeons -- BECMI Retroclone]In Search of Adventure OOC
A comment of Ganelon's made me realise I need to be more explicit about the availability of magic items. Essentially the only items commonly available for sale are potions, typically either through a temple or apothecary. So, healing potions and the like are available, albeit in limited quantities. Hope that clarifies things.
Re: [Dark Dungeons -- BECMI Retroclone]In Search of Adventure OOC
I believe I've got the Wiki updated with Arcturis' share of the loot.
Of his 1833:
-Paid Sonja 25 + 5 bonus at termination of contract.
-Kept 3 loose GP
-Converted 300 to (2) 50gp gems and (2) 100gp gems (30gp fee)
-Balance of 1470 deposited for safe-keeping.

Re: [Dark Dungeons -- BECMI Retroclone]In Search of Adventure OOC
Da Prophet, combined base XP from treasure and monsters is 1864. with Krutchow's 18 Strength he gains a 10% XP bonus. 10% of 1864 is 186, for a total of 2050 XP. Fighters require 2000 XP to reach second level, so congratulations. Krutchow gains another 1d8=5 hp.
I'm going to have to ask you again to make more of an effort when it comes to posting. I know you're posting from a phone, but it is really a challenge to follow your posts when you don't use punctuation or capitalization. Thanks.
Re: [Dark Dungeons -- BECMI Retroclone]In Search of Adventure OOC
Hello all! I am joining, by invitation, this game as Kelandro Stonesinger. I have an entry in the wiki, but I should warn you that this is my first experience with Dark Dungeons and I'd never played BECMI previously, so forgive me if I'm a little slow on the uptake.
Kelandro will be speaking in dark red, and joining in whenever thirdkingdom deems it appropriate. So just don't be surprised when I post IC out of nowhere

Please don't do that. I already use DarkRed for Ganelon.
Also, welcome aboard! This is a very good game with a fun old school version of D&D.

Welcome, Vilpich. We're a pretty casual bunch, so don't worry about picking up the nuances of BECMI. We'll get you up to speed pretty quickly.
Despite Roland's comment on text color - in the first or second post in this OOC thread, thirdkingdom said he didn't want us using any colored text at all.

Yeah, I know I said that, but it is a hard habit for you guys to break. I don't care much, either way, as long as you put the character's name in bold at the top of a post (and using quotation marks is pretty big, too -- my big objection to using colors is when a player feels they can substitute the color for quotation marks. I don't know why it is, but speech without quotes is hugely jarring for me) so I can tell which character is speaking; there is too much going on for me to keep track who uses which color.

Thank you! To clarify, are you offering both Gort and Vanya henchman status? If so, can I assume that you are offering them 1/4 share each, a share being what each PC recieves of any found treasure/reward? If so:
Roll for Gort's reaction: 2d6+3=11 He accepts.
Roll for Vanya's reaction:2d6+3=14 He is so thrilled that he gains a +1 to his morale score.
I added three to each roll for: Ganelon's Charisma modifier (+1). The nice bonus he gave them (+1). Seeing the first haul was so lucrative and trouble free (bwa ha ha)(+1).
Re: [Dark Dungeons -- BECMI Retroclone]In Search of Adventure OOC
Still waiting to hear from Albert and Lanmolltar; I believe both characters should have reached level 2. I'd like to get this all squared away and the wiki updated before setting out again.
@Vilpich
I forgot to mention that one houserule, located in the "houserule section of the wiki, increases carrying capacity based on Strength.
Re: [Dark Dungeons -- BECMI Retroclone]In Search of Adventure OOC
Ah, elves need 4000 exp to level, yes? I believe I still have a ways to go. I think I missed it, but how much did we get from killing the trogolytes (not from treasure, from fighting)?

31 each prior to XP adjustment. And you are correct about the XP needed to level an elf. For some reason I had been thinking it was 3500.
