Roland was origionally trained a little by his father, but Mr. Valent was killed in action when Roland was around 7. The boy was taken in by the church for formal training, while his mother recieved a stipend. Roland doesn't see himself as good as his father (Whom he has placed upon a pedistal and tied that into his religeous beliefs), and his father died in combat as a Ranger. IE, Roland believes he'd probably be killed in action if he becomes a Ranger. He ALSO believes that heroes are immortalized in the afterlife, so at the point of class change, it will become a question of "Does Roland believe himself good enough to live up to his father's legacy and become an hero, or does he stay humble and become a Paladin?"
Mechanically, this is shown by Ranger having higher caps in Speed and Skill. Roland could reach higher if he went Ranger.
Oh, so Mortimer's correct at least for the part where he sells himself short and the whole religious thing contributing to his humbleness... hmm... this yet another support option for Mortimer... we'll see :)
Also I wish Falcon the best. May he soar high and not be peppered with arrows
Edit: And because I am still bored and want to procrastinate here's my assessment of the alignment of everyone who has been introduced so far:
Immena: LG
Nina: NG/CG
Lloyd: Not so sure on this, few interactions: N-NG
Roland: LG
Callum: certainly Lawful, almost certainly Good as well: so LG, otherwise LN
Argoth: LN with good tendencies
Wotan: NG
Paris: N/LN
Madeline: NG
Oren: I am not sure on him... uhmmm N?
Durnock: Again not sure so N
Hugo: Likely good in the past, currently consumed by sorrow and revenge. his actions can be interpreted as either CN or LN, more likely Lawful though.
Adele: LG
Falcon: CG.
So as we can see a surprisingly Alignment compatible party...with Falcon and perhaps Nina providing some 'conflict'.

@Illven, I put some thought into it. It's old DnD habit, really.
@Rising Phoenix, Mortimer's right on the religeous connection. The bit about selling himself short isn't accurate *Yet*, while Roland is humble, he's lv 6 and Sairyu's maps are pretty lethal :p
I'd say he just has an accurate picture of where he stands in relation to the enemies ;)
My thoughts are pretty close to yours here. I've got:
Retired
Aramel: NG
Nain: CN
Current
Imeena: LG
Nina: CG
Lloyd: TN
Roland: LG
Callum: CN
Argoth: LN/close to a LG allignment change
Wotan: CG
Paris: TN
Madeline: NG
Oren: TN
Durnock: TN?
Hugo: LN
Adele: LG
Falcon: CG
I've got Oren and Lloyd as TN because they seem like pragmatists; they'll do what seems like a good idea and don't seem to have many biases towards who they work with.
Callum is CN because, really, up till now he's been just looking out for himself. In the future, as he sticks with the group and develops a sense of comraderie, he may shift alignments to CG or TN.
Allies
Lenz: LG
Linia: NG
Galer: LN
Enemies
Edgar: CE
Baldo: NE
Neer: LN
Domni: LE
Neer: LN
Gunther: TN
I'd argue that he put thought behind his cross-dressing (the enemies should target him instead of the vulnerable priests) hence LG... but if that's not the case CN it is
Edit: Out of curiosity how much time does it take to create a FE map and how much time does it take to update it? I guess I could use microsoft publisher to quickly create maps and dump standard battle sprites on it, but I have 0 spriting skills.
In other words... I'd like to run a FE game but I am afraid that I do not have the time nor the skills necessary to make it awesome .

Then, create a new tileset in Tiled using one of the images in the zip provided, set the tile height and width to 16px, the other values to 0px. Transparent colour doesn't matter. Once you do that, you create a map with tiles, rather than pixels as the basic unit of measure. You also get access to tools like the fill tool, layers, etc.
To update a map is more tricky. You can technically use Tiled to place units on the map, this would let you update really quickly. However, you would have to first create a tileset image that contains all the overworld sprites. The other method is to use an image editor that supports layers and put your map on one layer and your units on another layer so they don't affect each other.
EDIT: What do you know, there are programs to compile spritesheets for you out of individual sprites, and I happen to have blue and red individual overworld sprites. Use this as a tileset with Tiled: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/1262287/FE/...rldsprites.png
Set the tile width to 16px and tile height to 24 px, use white (the default) as the transparent colour.

Huh. Thanks for the quick tutorial, I've bookmarked your post so that I can try it out when I have a bit more time to play around with things like this...
I may be able to finally launch that campaign where the party rides around on a giant nautilus in an air bubble in the elemental plain of water...
Augh...stupid...stupid Ph D and needing money to live
There are only 3.5 active FE games at the moment... this makes me sad... once upon a time there were 6-7...

There's as many as 3.5? The only ones I know now are this one, and maybe the the Sairyu/Illven Emblem Games. Which are the ones I don't know about?
Xondure's (which is a great read btw)
This one
The death match one
Penguinator's (currently in stasis)
And Herpestidae's (which revived itself... hmmm maybe I should apply for that as well...)
So that's five, not as bad as it sounds, yet I remember the days when they were popping up all over the place...

Regarding Hugo, I'd say you're right on the sorrow part. He still adheres to the other, non-stabby related parts of church canon, however. And regarding revenge, he sees it more as delivering cold, hard, justice.
But, comon, we all know it's revenge.

I appreciate your response, but I was intending Falcon to be talking to Galer's Mercenary #11, actually.
I wonder if we can fluff it in a way that Lloyd actually is the one to boost Falcon though. Or failing that, I can always have Falcon shout at Lloyd to follow him or something.
@Ascaloth
Ahh, I had considered that, but merc#11 was a little distance away and not next to a wall, so I thought that you could be referring to Lloyd. So I took a chance, though I'm fine with fluffing that Lloyd lifts Falcon over the wall.
Edit: If that's not possible, I'll just edit out the second paragraph.

Xondoure has a game? Where?
I'd see Nina as more chaotic good.
@Rising Phoenix. If you start the game, shoot me a pm please.

Read Callum's backstory. He's a thief who is pretending to be a noble. He is most definitely not lawful, and he's out for himself, so he's not good, either.
Yes, PMs all around.
Paris is lawful, she's dedicated her life to living as the Renyu want her to, she most certainly is following a personal code. (Yes, she joined the party against their wishes, but she's shown regret for that decision)
Neutral's right, though. She's apathetic as far as that goes.
And I think Xondoure's game=TheSummoner's game, unless I've missed something. I'm guessing it's confusion, but I could be wrong.

@Rising Phoenix
It usually takes me about 20-30 minutes to update a map* once I've gotten going. The first few updates are usually the quickest (~10-15mins), since there's normally not too much going on during that time. This 'map' is pretty much 5 maps, so it takes me slightly longer (about 1hr and a few minutes).
I use Photoshop for these maps, but that's because I can't make things out with the smaller overworld-style maps that other people tend to prefer. Having layers lets me slide units around really easily for updates.
It takes me around 1-2 hours to push a map out; 10ish minutes to brainstorm and jot down ideas and a rough map on paper and then the rest of the time moving it to the computer. This map took ~7 hours to get done, partially because I discarded the original concept (an 80x80 map) after working on it for an hour and then realizing that it was going to turn out terribly.
Hey, I thought Ballista #8 was not in range to hit Falcon! The Ballistae have a range of 12, right? And Ballista #8's closest edge to Falcon is either S-D8 or S-E7; neither square should be close enough to strike Falcon at.
Also, if Archer #6 manages to hit Falcon, he should be at C-H10, not C-H9.
And I think Xondoure's game=TheSummoner's game, unless I've missed something. I'm guessing it's confusion, but I could be wrong.
This is what happened, my apologies XD.
And as for starting a game, it won't be for a while, but yes I will let everyone know. If it's only 1-2 hours to create a map, than 30-40 minutes to update one, than I think I can do it, of course I have to learn to do it first... I do not have photoshop so I will try WnW method first.
Let's see how much trouble you guys are in.
So the path is clearer now... but there are still too many enemies too charge I'd say...hmm...

Using the the editor will make things go really quick. Just click on the tile that you like and spray it over the area that you want it to go on.
Edit: let me know too, I'm a sucker for these games.
@Ascaloth
Enemy Phase V occurs before Ally Phase V.
