Why would the first level be treated any differently?

It doesn't work. Knowledge pool is quite clear in what it can be used to do, and adding to your spell book is not there.

Crafting custom items is not ever going to be simple, you'll always need at least a quest to get the right components or something like that.

I'll add it to the OP, it's somewhere within the thread.

I'm not very familiar with those, I'll have to check before I can give a final answer.

Well, because rolling a 1 on your first level hp basically means your character isn't worth playing for at least a level. If you give everybody full HP at first level, then even if they roll a 1 next level, they have average hit points. At later levels, bad hp rolls mean you just need to compensate with magic items. With respect to why we would be getting full hp for first level when we're starting at level six, it's because (for the above reason) full first-level hit points is a rule.

Wyroot is listed here, and dev discussion of the topic is here if you'd like those.

Ah, sorry. I had just assumed that you would forgo the silly dice roll altogether since the gm had said average hp. That's my bad. I'm still used to other systems. This is the first system I've joined where your hp is (at least partially) up to chance rather than simply calculated. (the other system I've played is ffd6, originally posted on this very website under homebrew design.)

Well, we are forgoing it in favor of average hp, but it's why the rule exists in the first place. We're just using the rule because it's a standard rule. I tend to be in favor of character creation stuff (hp, stats, etc.) being non-random myself, partly because I've had the dice roller decide to saddle me with a four to put in my dump stat.

The knowledge poll class feature allows a Magus who to prepare any spell on the Magus spell list at the cost of one point from his arcane poll per spell. The rules for Replacing and Copying Spellbooks allow a spellbook using character with to a prepared spell directly into his spellbook.

This allows a Magus to prepare a spell that is not in his spell book and then write it into his spellbook without having to: find another spellbook user how has the the; paying him/her for permission to copy the spell or having to make spellcraft checks.

I thought I should ask I suspect some GM's would find it chessy.

You didn't happen to use your cell phone while preparing that message, did you? There's a few grammar mistakes that kinda makes it...difficult to understand what you're saying.

I apologize if what I said offends you, especially so if you felt you needed to reply quickly and had no other means at your disposal.

Something is just saying that it works with a RAW reading. Knowledge Pool allows you to prepare a spell. The rules for writing in your spellbook say you can write down a spell you have prepared. It's considered cheesy because it's clear that this was not intended (the ability would make itself useless after a week or two of downtime with plenty of ink).

Ah, I see. That makes sense.

I do have what may be a bit of an odd question: I keep seeing people talk about how humans get bonus spells known in pathfinder, but I don't see that written anywhere. Not in the core rulebook, not in the advanced player guide, not even in the errata. Am I missing something here?

Human alternate favored class bonus. Instead of picking up a hit point or skill point, you can (for most casting classes, Sorcerer included) pick up an extra spell known. Catch is that it has to be at least one level lower than the max you can cast at that level. So levels 1-3 you're better off with hp or skill points, since you won't need more cantrips. After that, though, it starts becoming more useful. The other way to pick up spells is the Expanded Arcana feat. It gives you one spell of the highest level you can cast when you take it, or two lower-level spells.

Out of curiosity, is there anyone that could take all of the character sheet links of those that have responded to the roll call and make a table out of them like the one on page one? This could be helpful to Thiago. I would do it, but I don't know how....

Unfortunately I do have to admit that I'm getting a little "stir crazy" with this thread. I honestly was hoping that things would move just a little bit more quickly, though I understand if everyone is busy...it's just so hard to find a recruitment thread on this forum where someone is running a pathfinder game. I suppose what's most frustrating for me about that is that I've already payed $40 for four pdf files from paizo so that I could play it...sigh.

Oh well, nothing comes from being completely impatient, lol.

Falcon777: I hope you can use them somewhere else as well. spending such an amount for only 1 thing is a bit bad. Oh and here is a Free page to look at http://www.d20pfsrd.com/home which offers near all informations.

@ThiagoMartell: I hope the race I took is fine with you. Sorry for not asking earlier, but as said work killed near all my time and I just got to this now. If it isn't just tell me.

I'm not sure who is still in and who not so I say:

Hey Arkwright, for some reason the URL on your character sheet really doesn't like this table, so if you could add yourself to it that'd be cool.

@Thiago: So, Somethingrandom, if I'm not mistaken, still needs a question answered. Also Master of fates is the only one that has not responded to roll call. Everyone else besides those two and Arkwright should be on the table in this post.

Nah, I don't mind. Hey, Thiago, if you're reading this, it would be nice to know if you are still interested in dming this game. If not, do you think you could tell one of us your ideas so that someone else could dm it?

frown Re: Mage guild game [Pathfinder, Recruiting]

Again, I hate to double post, but I think that if I don't this thread is going to die...

In any case, there's two things I'd like to say: First that Thiago told me he'd get the game up and running this week after I asked him in a pm. However, that was back on Sunday and it's now the end of Friday....

Secondly, well, Thiago, if you're reading this...we'd kinda like an explanation. I mean, if you can't dm the game, it'd be nice to know so that I can just let the thread die. If you can...how come the game hasn't started yet? And really, if we're only going to get one post a week from you, I think that a few of us might be leaving even if you do get the game up tonight....just letting you know.

P.S. @ Thiago: I just want to let you know that I'm not particularly angry at you, just...disappointed.

I would like to suggest the possibility that Thiago lives in the US and has been affected by Sandy. His last post and the arrival of that little bit of weather do coincide.

Of course I may be wrong.

Rofl lolol. In case you hadn't noticed, he has listed his location as Brazil under his avvy. And if that isn't convincing enough, I'm pretty darn sure that within the first few pages of this thread he posted about being excited to see someone else from Brazil on these forums....just saying.

'tis ok. It happens to the best of us. ..............sigh. Man, it's gonna take me a little bit of time to get back into being excited about this game. I kinda like where my character is at in terms of starting out, but I gotta admit that I'm more than a little curious as to what Thiago means by a guild game. I'm honestly puzzled.

Sure sure, that's all good in theory, but Thiago has explicitly stated that this game has no theoretical upper limit to how many players can join specifically because it is a guild game... Now, to my understanding, the more players you have the more work it is for a gm to properly pay attention to everyone and everything that is going on. Personally I'm curious as to how Thiago came up with an idea on how to bypass that. Because if he hasn't...well, it wouldn't exactly make me happy, though to be fair it's not exactly like he's tested the idea before.
