Oh, my Matilda May usually looks happy... she was just upset then because she could smell the catnip we grow in our backyard and she wasn't getting any. Here, have a happy kitty!

She's just not the same without her morning cuppa joe...

Time to start the Halloween costume trent!
I'm a artsy person. Or well, I'm a film producer.
One bad hair day and a thought to be the opposite, I became a scientist for halloween.
Spoiler
A crazy scientist.
(Ironically, I usually go to fairs as a pirate, so the friend in the picture thought she'd join my crew but she couldn't, as it was one of the times I didn't go as a pirate.

Dallas-Dakotium, I rarely comment on your costumed hurly-burlies, but I should like to say that I always enjoy looking at their zaniness. I imagine that knowing you in real life must be a wild ride.

No, probably you fall into that hilariously vague category of "older."
I finally pulled the last of my carrot crop last night, before the first really harsh freeze hit. These are the prettiest specimens:

^: Sweet, Kneenibble!
Also, I concur with your Analysis of Dallasium.
Neftren: Maybe link instead of picture directly?
Pretty nifty. Just bakers chocolate and then baked with sprinkles or what?

What mad scientists can't make good use of an evil piratical minion?
Nize.

They were slightly less sweet, and slightly more earthy-tasting than the others.
Next year I am going to add dark purple and white carrots, if the seed supplier I use has them, with a few more orange varieties. Since they are my favourite vegetable, I am again going to devote an entire 4'x8' raised bed to them.

Hmm... That is a quandary then... Now I am unsure I would like them...
I am much too finicky when it comes to food.

Carrots weren't always orange, they were mostly purple. We have the Dutch House of Orange to thank for the selective breeding and popularity of orange carrots.

None of the non-orange carrots I've tried were wildly different in taste than the orange -- the differences are but subtle; and since they come from the garden, they are uniformly miles ahead in taste, sweetness, and tender crunch than whatever you find in a grocery store.

Unfortunately, as I am so incredibly picky when it comes to vegetables, I remain sceptical, but optimistic.

I like the photo in the bottom left. It's like Mabel (is it Mabel?) is looking at you asking if you'd stop taking those wretched photos so she can finish her lunch in peace.
