Marc, are there any changes I should make to my character sheet with this new version of the rules?
Also Hemnon... your other post?
other post? the one about Trace being greedy? Well, trace asked if the request for an angelic limit break would be a little greedy and I choose to answer it with a joke.

Re: Want to give Rosso the Crimson a good thrashing? Here's your chance! (Players nee
@Aisaku: Changes are as follows: Mako Points have been reduced from 10 to 5 + your level; There is a new magic points system that controls the use of spells (extraordinary powers are still spent using Mako Points, however); Ethers no longer replenish Mako points but instead replenish Magic Points; and the Spellcasting skill is now Charisma-based instead of Wisdom-based.
@Trace: yes you are greedy lol. i will have to say no to your Angelic Form. Cetra's are not known to change their forms, that's what mutated humans are for...

Marc: What changed in the new edition?
Status Update
Well, I believe after some hard long soul searching I'm settling on a Moogle scout; favoring the machinist and exploxive lines. That said, I couldn't find much info on moogle's and how they interact with society in FFVII, so anything I should be aware of for my backstory?
"Kuboom!"
..._O_
\(^o^)/
.(......)
That said, on my way there I had another idea I was tinkering with but it broke down to mechanics. I considered playing a Golem or a Tonberry, but dismissed the idea due to their move speed of 2. Given that every other race has a speed of 4 or higher, this seems to make Golem's and Tonberries horrible for parties seeing as their's no way to increase their movements. I gotta ask, why not raise their speed to 4? I know this might seem to be more suited to the game, but it does seem to cripple them in party dynamics.
To solve this I considered making a Chocobo riding Tonberry, the image of a tonberry charging on chocobo into battle dual-wielding knives was adorable and awesome enough for me to be willing to deal with the fact it's a monster, however I couldn't find the cost for a chocobo so I had to scrap the idea. Considered jetpack, but seeing how there's no way I'd be able to realistically carry enough fuel to use it I had to scrap the idea too.
Re: Want to give Rosso the Crimson a good thrashing? Here's your chance! (Players nee
@Regalus: first of all, brilliant ideas btw. Chocobos can't be bought, they have to be caught in the wild (see the Chocobo Breeding chapter in the Monster Manual for more details). I can increase the base speed of Tonberrys to 4 squares but my original thought when only giving them a 2 sqaure speed was that it would make them too powerfull (they've got an ability called Everybody's Grudge for crying out loud lmao).
Moogles are somewhat legendary folk in the world of FF7. Their existence has never been proven, hence why i said in their description that they tend to live in underground towns or within mountains.
Edit: Changes in the book are as follows:
Spellcasting skill is now Charisma-based instead of Wisdom-based.
New Magic Points system, which controls the expenditure for casting spells, however Extraordinary Powers still need Mako Points to use.
Mako points have been reduced from 10 to 5 + character level.
Ethers no longer heal Mako Points but now Magic Points.
Re: Want to give Rosso the Crimson a good thrashing? Here's your chance! (Players nee
Aw man, I'll have to really read over this thing the since all those changes seem to affect magic-type characters the most (which I am). I'm glad we sorted that thing with magic points though - the mako points scheme seemed really weird and not very FFVII, having a finite number of spells every level. I'll read over the pdf in the morning
Well, we don't have to jsut things that are in the canon (with reference to Angel tree proposal); BLUE7 the cybrog certainly wasn't a canon element of the series, but it was still a cool idea so we rolled wityh it. I wouldn't require actual physical transformations - more wings made of crystalised light, that sort of thing. basically i was hoping by higher levels to make my character into the Avatar from the show of the same name (a reverse Korra, basically, or maybe now), conversing with spirits as readily as she would people and entering trances to draw out the planet's energy - by way of cool feats and mako points. Eh, maybe that's kind of silly, I don't know, I just thought i would be cool. I felt liek playing a 'special' character for once, you know?

Guess that makes me playing a moogle traveling around a bit tricky; what with them supposed to be hidden from normal people. Hey at least, this means one more person trying to save Knox.
Re: Want to give Rosso the Crimson a good thrashing? Here's your chance! (Players nee
heyhey! My character ain't THAT evil, ever heard of a change of heart or redemption?

Well my character's from a race that's supposed to be near extinct so we're not that different XD
How about being a chocobo-riding moogle? How big are moogles, in human terms? Would a moogle wearing heavy clothes appear to others as a child? A short person?
Re: Want to give Rosso the Crimson a good thrashing? Here's your chance! (Players nee
Aisaku: Well, according to the entry they are the size of a child. I suppose that if I wear heavy clothing and gloves I may be able to pass off as a child. Time to prep up disguise.
I'd like to have a chocobo; but I need to actually catch one ICly first. That said, depending on what you want, our character's could be traveling together. Maybe we stumbled unto each other after your escape; and decided to travel together for mutual protection, until one day you picked up Hime's scent and realized she was in danger. Which would lead to us giving chase in order to save her from her pursuers. Ya know, visions or intervention from the Land not withstanding.
Inedible: Well, rather than just raising their base speed; you could make a feat that increases land speed, maybe increasing it by two per buy? Would certainly help people trying to build speedy ninja-esque characters; and since it would cost a feat that could serve as the balance point if taken by golems and Tonberries.
Alternatively or in addition to this, limit 'Everyone's grudge' so that it only counts allies if they've been hit by the target; or that it can only be activated once your allies have been hit, and only counts number of allies hit by the target at moment of activation for the bonus. That way it's still good, but it now has a layer of strategy to it via its setup; making them choose between using it as soon as possible against the first plausible target, and bidding their time until the right target as earned their parties scorn before striking out in the name of vengeance.
Ok, everything's up to date with the current version of the rules, including mp. I may have added the racial modifiers wrong, so I based myself off this version's racial modifiers and my original rolls. Now that's taken care of I'm all set.
Re: Want to give Rosso the Crimson a good thrashing? Here's your chance! (Players nee
(Reads Regalus' post) Hmm I'd rather see the characters meet out of sheer serendipity. That and to contrast things more, while my wolflion has no problem being considered a 'random monster' your moogle may pride himself on fooling everybody, maybe doing business unhindered in the world at large. Have you fleshed out your character's story yet? That may give me some ideas on how the characters may interact.
Re: Want to give Rosso the Crimson a good thrashing? Here's your chance! (Players nee
Marc, the picture of Aeris for the Cetra race looks really sad and foreboding. As an alternative, I would suggest something that shoes those big, lively eyes of hers, maybe with some of the nature themes she's associated with, since you have to kind of nail the Cetra's theme. I guess her in a gray, likely industiral environment being depressed is also appropriate, but try something like this maybe:
Trying to figure out how many magic points I have

Everything is fine Aisaku, except Mako points are no longer 10 + your level, its 5 + your level (you still have it as 11 when it should be 6).
Also, Wolfion base speed has been decreased from 10 sq. to 8 sq.
Edit: Hemnon, nice pic. Trace, its easy for Noble: its 9 + your Intelligence modifier

Please re-check my last post because i found i better one :3
My character now has bloodred eyes and dark red hair. Giving him that 'Other' air about him.
Edit: Gm, Does limit breaks automaticly hit if it says; 'The attack is considered a critical hit for this limit break'?

Re: Want to give Rosso the Crimson a good thrashing? Here's your chance! (Players nee
@Aisaku: First of all, great picture . Also, you need to change your base speed from 10 to 8. other than that, your sheet is complete and you're ready to go.
Re: Want to give Rosso the Crimson a good thrashing? Here's your chance! (Players nee
Alright, because of the now M.A.D. spellcasting requirements I'm going to need to point buy my stats to be at all effective. I don't have the most recent pdf on my pen drive and I'm not sure how the uni feels about me downloading things on their computers, so I'll play it safe and figure it out when I get home, although I guess the point buy would be the same. Sorry I've been messing with you somuch guys - holding up games at the recruitment stage seems to be a hobby of mine, though with term on this time I have an excuse.

I was gonna make a table once everyone had submitted a sheet, but you beat me to the post
Edit: Zeone3000: If you are reading this, you need to go over the version of the core book as the SOLDIER class has had a makeover as well (one thing in particular, SOLDIERs no longer get starting gear, you have to buy your own equipment).
Re: Want to give Rosso the Crimson a good thrashing? Here's your chance! (Players nee
My stats are looking to now be around
Int 18, Wis 18, Cha 18, Str 8, Dex 12, Con 8
WIth a point buy, well balanced to the newer system. I'm basically scrapping my character sheet to ths end, but I'll get it in order soon enough. Tomorrow she'll be statted up, I swear.
