Re: Want to give Rosso the Crimson a good thrashing? Here's your chance! (Players nee
Isn't high wisdom kind of a big thing for Cetra though?
I don't have much emphasis on my limit breaks. My 'golden strategy' is to spam materia use, healing and lightning bolting, and switch to shooting things if I run out of MP
Ooh, Marc, I have an idea. How about every time you spend a mako point, your limit gauge fills my one? Otherwise it will probably take me about 5 levels before I squeeze off even one, high wisdom or no.
Re: Want to give Rosso the Crimson a good thrashing? Here's your chance! (Players nee
Well, I just figured 'Mako Points are a pretty tense mechanic and limit breaks are all about the tension, so they should work together somehow'. If I may, I would suggest this mechanic, that you keep a nifty feat while also giving it universal application
Mako Points and Limit Gauges
When you spend a mako point, add one to your limit gauge
AND a feat
Auto-Limit Benefit: Whenever you spend a mako point to improve the result of a roll, you gain a number of points in your lmit gauge equal to the result of the extra die that was rolled by the Mako Point Normal: Only gain one point.
Example: Cloud Strife is level 1, has a wisdom of 12, and 10 points in his limit gauge and the Auto-Limit feat. When attacking Sephiroth McAwesomethemesong, he makes an attack roll (a natural 10 with a +3 bonus, for a total result of 13) and spends a mako point to increase his result, rolling a 3 on a six sided die. He adds 3 points to his limit guage as well as +3 to his attack result, bringing his limit gauge to 13, exceeding his wisdom score and allowing him to use a limit break on his next round.
Didn't we used to roll to see how full our limit gauge was at the start? Hime is on the run, so she's probably been shot at at least once.
Oh, and another feat.
What I Cherish
Prereq: Auto-limit, character level ?
Benefit: By spending a round soliloquising and reflecting on what you truly cherish, you push yourself to great heights to protect it, expending everything you have for a single, meaningful act to turn the tide. Expend all of your remaining Mako Points and gain a number of points in your limit gauge equal to your wisdom modifier+Mako Points expended. After a number of minutes equal to the limit gauge filled by this feat, your limit gauge drops to 0. I fthis fills his limit gauge enough for him to use a limit break, be may immediately perform it by expending every point in the gauge he has.
Pretty cool right?
I made another character sheet for Hime because I had to throw some stuff out. Here's the current version just to prove I'm not COMPLETELY unproductive.
Re: Want to give Rosso the Crimson a good thrashing? Here's your chance! (Players nee
Those feats are brilliant, and i will be adding them amongst the list of new feats in the Character Profiler - Core Rulebook III. also, the core mechanic about Mako Points and the Limit Gauge will be added to version 1.15 of the Core Rulebook I.
as for your sheet, Trace, it looks good so far. and yes, it is a materia necklace, but the purple materia orb is broken in two.
Re: Want to give Rosso the Crimson a good thrashing? Here's your chance! (Players nee
I'm a bit colourblind. Aren't purple materia the ones that enhance stats or something in the game? I'm sure that isn't it's use though...
Does my character know anything of significance regarding the necklace or its origins? Is it supposedly an 'heirloom'?
I wanna see that book. Anything in there that might manipulate my build at all?
Can't decide if Hime should be taken in and adopted in some way, or a 'throwback' Cetra somehow. It was never really defined where Aeris came from I don't think - someone just turned up out the blue and died with Aeris in their arms, asking her adoptive mother to raise the kid. Maybe there's a couple more running around, but where...
Re: Want to give Rosso the Crimson a good thrashing? Here's your chance! (Players nee
The last core rulebook is still a WIP and i haven't even done enough to be worth a download link anytime soon.
I've changed the colour of ability-booster materia from purple to blue.
The materia is an heirloom as far as Hime's concerned. she doesn't know if it possess any real power or not.
Can your character be from a family of cetra. i will also at some point want to know the names of Hime's parents. (wink wink, can she be an only child please )
Re: Want to give Rosso the Crimson a good thrashing? Here's your chance! (Players nee
I'm awful with names so I didn't want to embarrass myself with a surname, but since you insist... her family name is... Kazuko. No, wait, that's a first name. Hmm... Yakata. I don't really mind.
Do you mean her biological parents or her regular rich parents? Whatever you want on both cases really. I can provide backstory, but naming things.. I usually do taht after I'v locked down an aspect, if ever. I'll do more stuff in the morning, it's midnight and I have a big day ahead of me
Oh wait, silly me, you were suggesting my family be Cetra. Hmm... no. They would give her too much guidance and hope for the arc I've intended. At most only one parent would be a Cetra, and even that's a stretch. If biological cetra parents are a requisite, I don't see her being raised by both her parents as working for her arc I had planned, where she learns to stop being afraid to 'listen'.
Re: Want to give Rosso the Crimson a good thrashing? Here's your chance! (Players nee
I didn't mean it like that. you have to believe me that i have BIG THINGS instore for Hime.
She needs to believe her parents are biological - DON'T ASK ME WHY just trust me. maybe her parents are dead and left their wealth to her.
name them as you see fit.
Trace, you can be very creative, i know you can work something out. her parents don't have to be Cetra even, just as long as she believes them to be her biological parents.
Re: Want to give Rosso the Crimson a good thrashing? Here's your chance! (Players nee
I'm a bit confused. Do you mean believe the human parents who raised her when you say 'she must believe her parents are biological'? I was going to do that anyway. I was even going to write a transcript of her meeting with a psychiatric to diagnose 'the voices' she hears from the planet. Maybe that's how she was discovered - some Turk happened to look over her psychological profile and piece together she wasn't crazy but rather hearing the cry of the planet, i.e. a Cetra. Just an idea
Re: Want to give Rosso the Crimson a good thrashing? Here's your chance! (Players nee
If it helps any, the moment your Cetra crossed paths with my Wolflion was as just a baby, with her biological parents. Just to further drive the wedge between before and now, and yet at the same time, provide some leads. Hmm... How much of the character's backstory is supposed to be planned before the game starts?

That's a really good idea . i can go with that.
@Aisaku: Just enough to give me something to work with, plot-related.

OMIGOD the forums are back online. Guess I'll get back to work on Hime. I had my first week of labs this week so i was REALLY busy, like even more than I usually excuse myself with.
What was everyone's characters doing say, 10-15 years ago?

Gabriel was most likely being experimented on at that time.

Asha was probably in the early days of her trip, probably still getting her bearings. As to the specific zone, could be anywhere, since her tribe isn't pinned down to be exactly the same Red XIII belongs to in Cosmo Canyon. Could be in the same continent or in the one Junon is at.
Re: Want to give Rosso the Crimson a good thrashing? Here's your chance! (Players nee
Im glad the forums are back online but i wont be posting anything game related until tomorrow night as i am in Blackpool, UK. Take this time, everyone, to get your characters ready and prepared for the game.

Re: Want to give Rosso the Crimson a good thrashing? Here's your chance! (Players nee
Sorry sorry sorry. Labs tomorrow. But i never work harder on characters than when I come back form a lab. I have the plan for the 'therapy' and 'escape' components of the backstory worked out, and I can probably gloss over the meeting since few details would be... actually I guess they would stick with Hime a fair bit, but then she'd block them out. So I guess I have some blanks to fill in as I go.
Mar, tellme when you want to start and I'll have Hime done by then. I never have more inspiration than when a deadline is looming (and I feel like a hypocrit for jerking this game around for a month since you wanted to start it - we could be halfway through it by now otherwise!)
Re: Want to give Rosso the Crimson a good thrashing? Here's your chance! (Players nee
Good, grand. I think i can handle that. I'll do what I can this evening. I'll wrap it up by Thursday, with any luck, lest it cut into the most intense lab session of the year
Re: Want to give Rosso the Crimson a good thrashing? Here's your chance! (Players nee
Sorry, i dragged the game so much a few of the precious players I scrounged up will have ironically left by now... You really shouldn't rely on me after all.
Re: Want to give Rosso the Crimson a good thrashing? Here's your chance! (Players nee
I'm still here :3

Re: Want to give Rosso the Crimson a good thrashing? Here's your chance! (Players nee
Everyone just seemed rather busy this week after the whole forums going down thing disrupted their habits.
I got invited to go see Phoenix Wright (I didn't even know such a movie existed until, like yesterday) so I'll finish Hime when I get back. I think i have it down now, it's all in a word document. Just gotta purchase some equipment and I'm set. Since I'm not sure how long this movie is I might be a bit late in and miss my deadline. Marc, why don't you get to work pulling everything together - I already gave you most of everything in my various outlines already I just never recorded them for clarity as I intend to. I'll probably fill in details as I go anyway.
Oh and I took Wealth. So I can heal and buy the party nice things, isn't that nifty? Oh and I'm also a face - I have 10 trained skills, so I picked up all the charisma based ones. We'll be able to buy stuff at the start of the campaign anyway, right? I'll just need a gun and some materia, really. Do I need to be wearing armour to use my armour-slots for materia? Because I have no proficiency in such things...
