Re: God Save the Queen, Indeed: Let's Play Long Live the Queen!
Chapter 14: Week 11: Mood: Afraid
or
Next Time, the Snarky Titles Will Retur! We Swear!
Spoiler
Well, let's get out of this situation (or try) by...Using that lovely present we got.
I'm guessing we'll just threaten to attack if we didn't wear the necklace.
I'm guessing she gestures to her necklace here. She is in my head.
"...Perhaps not."
Yeah. Now you wish you had said you wanted less money, don't you?
Victory to Elodie!
And us, of course.
Anyway, for the weekend, it seems like we've got a bunch of options...
I'm more-or-less tiebreaking here, and I'll go in favor of...Visiting the tomb.
Our current skills.
This week, our winning agenda is Production and Foreign Affairs. I think you guys meant Foreign Intelligence, but well...Foreign Affairs got more votes. So yay.
Ooh, so there's another place that's in trouble. We'll keep an eye on it.
We are done with Production if all we want is magic. Yaaaay! There's still stuff we *could* use it for later, but using it to further other goals, we're good.
And we have our first outfit! It'll give a boost to all accounting skills (and no penalties) while we wear it. We'll probably wear it until we get more.
...Say what, dad?
What she said. And failed.
"A beast with the body of an enormous golden cat, a sharp beak, and spikes on its back."
And I bet its belly makes the noise of a brace of hounds a'questing, huh?
"Eek!"
"What do we do? Should we send hunters?"
"The traditional policy on stray beasts is to hope that they return to the forest and stay there."
Novan: fends off monsters via the Hope and Pray method. Good job.
"Hunters are no match for such creatures. You would only make it angry and waste more lives."
"So...We just let it eat people?"
...
...
Thanks, Dad.
OUR MOM IS DEAD!
You know, since we're working on Millionaire-Playgirl Elodie who is secretly Magical Batgirl.
"Also, there's a letter for you."
Nice change of subject, Dad.
...Well, looks like our victory's come calling already.
Joy. (I've always actually planned to marry him when I take the necklace, so this scene'll be a surprise!)
Re: God Save the Queen, Indeed: Let's Play Long Live the Queen!
Alrighty, then!
Chapter 15, Part 1:
Or
So It's a Jewel-Heist?
Spoiler
Ok, wwe've got a consensus and our choice includes a choice, so here we go!
Boooo, assenting to our father's wishes!
"This world is filled with dangers, and you will need the powers of a Lumen to fight them. You can't begin training until you have bonded with your crystal."
Which, I should add, is really annoying. This is a very inconvenient magical girl system -- where's Kyuubey when you need him?
"Well, what else am I supposed to do about it?"
Buuut only if our skills are high enough. Because just being Princess and heir won't even get us into every room of our own castle.
Jerks.
"Otherwise we might have to take drastic action."
I don't think any of them but the first completely lock us into a course of action, but they affect mood and later options, of course.
Re: God Save the Queen, Indeed: Let's Play Long Live the Queen!
Just how drastic an action are we talking about here exactly ?
Anyhow, I'd say no for now, we're pretty close from having a pretty good acounting stat so no point in doing something drastic drastic just yet, let's find a way.

Re: God Save the Queen, Indeed: Let's Play Long Live the Queen!
Finding a way probably involves using skill checks. Drastic action will almost certainly come back to bite us in our highly-reflexive behind, especially if it's an immediate success.
I suggest trying to find a way first. Because the Goddamn Batman would never just give up.
Re: God Save the Queen, Indeed: Let's Play Long Live the Queen!
I am intrigued by these "drastic measures" you are proposing, and would like to learn more...

We don't even have to double-up. We just need to take one class and put on our spiffy new outfit, and we will be good to go. Outfit bonuses have saved my life a few times.
As for the Drastic Action...Like I said, it won't immediately drop us irrevocably on a path, but it may change what paths are open. It's a "Wait, what do you mean by 'drastic action'?" choice not a "Let's immediately jump to drastic action" choice.
Re: God Save the Queen, Indeed: Let's Play Long Live the Queen!
If nothing else, asking about drastic action should give us a better picture of Julianna's character.

Re: God Save the Queen, Indeed: Let's Play Long Live the Queen!
Assuming that Drastic action simply tells about the action, I'd say go for that.
Otherwise, go for trying to find a way inside.

Chapter 15, Part 2:
Or
Monopoly Princess! I wanna be the hat!
Spoiler
Now, Julianna...What is this 'Drastic Action' of which you speak?
Because we're apparently Magical Bat-Princess Elodie, and we're not sure if this is a thing that involves serious stuff.
Come to what exactly? TELL US!
"Try to reach the crystal. If you can't, come and talk to me again."
We'll do our best!
Anyway, the week's started, so I figure I'd open up week voting here, since we didn't get any before...
Here are our skills.
...Or, more accurately, here are our skills before we change out of the uniform. We got an outfit last time: a spiffy little tuxedo.
Don't look so sad, Elodie! We're the monopoly princess!
These are our skills with the tux on. That green is the boost and a cause for joy. That boost to Accounting will push us over what we need with 1 more week of taking it.
So...What shall we do this week for studying before we meet the Duke of Sedna?
Re: God Save the Queen, Indeed: Let's Play Long Live the Queen!
#1 = Accounting, obviously.
#2 I'm a bit more agnostic about. We need more Intrigue I'll grant, but we're going for Batman right? Batman is such a spiffy decorator of the Batcave and all, and the +1 bonus just calls out for me...
Has anyone here actually made the Keythong check? I'm tempted to try a playthrough just to get that one for once

If you must leverage the bonuses we have, then wouldn't it be more thematic to go for Falcons? All the animals seem hunting-themed, and Batman certainly is a hunter (of criminals, rather than of innocent woodland creatures, but details are unimportant). Plus, falcons are like the bats of the day, in that they can fly.
My actual vote is for Accounting and Foreign Intelligence, mind you, but I certainly wouldn't be upset if somebody had Elodie go falconing for a bit.

I've made that check once, actually. I though it was related to the Briony sidequest, and I've yet to actually do that sidequest.
Re: God Save the Queen, Indeed: Let's Play Long Live the Queen!
Accounting and Falcon. We'll bump up on Foreign stuff later, once we've optimized our bonus for that better.
