Ecksdee, you have taken the merit "Beacon" which is only for not supernatural (being a princess, you are). Furthermore, it brings you nothing.

Maybe one more dot in Palace/ Palace amenagement?

@ Regalus: in fact, that should be nice if everyone could count their dots invested in palace (and things related to palace).

Atm, I have:
Shina Campbell (Iscariote): 6 dots (already parted)
Sola Rose (me): none (but may swap something for one if needed)
Kim Jameson (Mechanix): 1 dot
Shirley Holmes (jamieth): 2 dots (already parted)
Erin Watson (Sun_Tzu): none
Nerissa Baines (Ecksdee): none (but still one dot to spend)
Mia Hendrix (Regalus): 1 dot (already parted)

Total:
Palace Size: 3 (A converted Church, warehouse or large house, 5-8 rooms (but see later))
Palace Library (criminology): 1 (We can make research in criminology)
Palace Veiling: 1 (Slightly hidden, -1 to find it)
Palace Security: 2 (Some security, -2 to enter, +2 to our init inside)
Unspend Dots: 3

So questions:
-Did I make mistakes?
-Do any of us have interresting specialties in Craft, Medicine (I know we have for this one...), Expression, Persuasion, or Socialize (Expression and Socialize for me, but from the others?)?
As written, you may benefit from those special rooms only if you spended the dots, be careful.

See now:

Erin has a dot in Craft with a Specialty in electronics, so I could drop her two dots in Eidetic Memory to invest in more Palace Security if you think it's worth it...

Well I do have a persuasion in Trust; basicly anything involving gaining people's trust our making use of it. I am a counselor after all, without trust I can't do my job. Putting a dot in gallery for it might help us once we start dealing with outsiders or or scared people under our protection.

I have my Contacts so I think I should keep it. I suppose I could trade my One dot of Circle for it if we don't want to use up one of those 3 free dots for it.

Also, in the PDF it says we all benefit from all features in our Palace. The catch is that if we leave it's assumed we take our invested dots with us.

But you could keep it. FOR SCIENCE. I'm sure that it's not like it would EVER come back to bite you, right? Right?

I am a bad DM and just noticed this. Your living situation isn't quite possible in the United States. You need to be at least 18 years old to live without foster parents or any kind of caretaker. Unless a judge emancipates you, which is unlikely.

Also, it might just be a cultural issue, but when you say University do you mean High School?

Everyone has finished their preludes. Anyone who had one gains +1 XP.

Post your questions, comments, suggestions, etc about your prelude if you like. Good, bad, other? Was the music good for mood? Does everyone except Regalus feel that they got an appropriate chance to make a terrible and short sighted decision? Apologizes to him, because he got the worst prelude. I promise I will make it up to you!

The next scene is going to take place a week later, after school. Everyone will be hanging around and something terrible will happen. We will actually start using mechanics. After that open ended questing starts.'

Edit: Thread now has latest stuff.

Not much to say. Seemed good. Music worked fine. I've got no problems with Erin's moral choices. ;)

Lightbulb Re: Princess: The Hopeful (OOC)

No worries Inedible. I won't lie, not quite what I had expected for a Grace's blossoming; I was honestly expecting something more people oriented I suppose, but that's okay. It helped me get a better grasp on her and her way of thinking, and the differences between her and her transformed state. Moreover, it helped me go over her sheet and modify it to fit her better; as seen by my frequent edits during the last few days. From that point of view the prelude you give me was a smashing success. :D

I did enjoy the original theme, wasn't quite feeling the end theme though. That said I found the pacing pretty good.

Loved my prelude! It was short and to the point -- and exactly what I had in mind. I do hope Marisol pops up later -- Nerissa would likely be keeping a very close eye on her from now on. Same goes for the lady who tried to get her to jump. Nerissa owes her a smackdown!

Also, here's the info you asked for!:

Nerissa is interested in... motivational speaking, classic romance novels, and being a pillar of stability for those in her life.

Nerissa is involved in... Debate Team, Library Club, Social Studies Club

Nerissa belongs to cliques such as... Kids from the Debate Team, Popular students who like her social abilities

Plot-hooks for Nerissa...

-Other students from the Library Club start to show they are being affected by something sinister. Nerissa is naturally inclined to investigate just what it is...

-Possibly, Nerissa finds out her mother was a former Princess...

Mia ...
is interested in card games and games of chance in general, gymnastics and having a good time with her friends and family. She also has a mild interest in fortune telling and urban myths.

attends the gymnastics club, and on ocassion is asked to help the local cheerleaders when they're short on people; though she's not the only one from the club asked to help out on occasion. She's also well known as a confidant and counselor for students; though she operates mostly by word of mouth and referrals from friends. She has a few regulars that go just to clear their heads for a few hours, or who just want someone to hear them out or give them a second opinion.

Hangs out with the Gymnastics club; where most of her close friends are. She also has acquianances and friends spread out through most of the social hierchy due to her years as a confidant and counselor; granted only a few handful of these actually still keep in touch with her as friends, rather then just contacting her when they happen to have a problem.

Post anything you think is a good story hook for your character.

@ Regalus: for size, security, and veiling, yes, but see amenities: nearly each of those have the "only the character who furnished the dot may use it" sometimes with an "at full advantage" (library).

@ sun_tzu: but are you specialized in craft? If you only have one dot, keep your eidetic memory.

@ Inedible: Shina is living with her father, if I remember well.

@ Ecksdee: did you see my last post?

About the palace in general, we now have to think about place, description, and so on. Any idea to begin with:

-iscariote's place, her father being a traveler, therefore not often at house, seems possible
-part of the city? with that security, I think we may be nearly everywhere.
-same for veiling, I think. (Inedible?)

@ Inedible: about Palace Amenities: do we stick to the "if you haven't brought the dot, you don't benefit from the bonus"?

Aaand of course I messed up my first roll, and GiantITP doesn't let you edit those. I'm doing it here:

(7d10)[3][1][9][10][7][5][4](39)

Quote:
(in french we say "cachetonner", but I don't know this word in english...)
I had no idea this word even existed o_O

Quote:
Post three things your character is interested in.
Athletics and especially archery, producing and studying art, and fighting evil. I'm not kidding, that's actually something she wants.

Quote:
Post any after school activities your character attends.
Archery club, running, painting club, poetry club, library club, does "volunteer in a homeless shelter" count as an activity? I'm also tempted by the debate club, because everyone else seems to be in it XD

Quote:
Post any cliques or circles your character frequents.
I don't have time for friends! Seriously though, while Kim isn't a bad person or a complete misanthrope, she doesn't take enough time off her schedule to really hang around with people. She has many acquaintances in many clubs, but few real "friends." Amon those, there's another girl who takes part in the library and poetry clubs who is one of the rare ones to whom Kim dares read her poetry.
Sometimes she hang around with other people in the archery club, and considers them her friends, but she doesn't know them all that well.
Other people at the shelter like her for her dedication though, but they are often older or without much in common with her.

Quote:
Post anything you think is a good story hook for your character.
Hm.
Eeeeh...
Anything that forces a conflict between her different areas of interest, or which would prevent her from doing one of her many activities.
After she slipped away in the middle of a fire some time ago, her mother is growing worried about her activities and might be wondering where her daughter goes all the time.
Her art is very important to her, and she wants to do something with it; publish her poetry, hang her paintings on some important wall...

Okay, that's weak, but I have not much in the way of ideas right now.

EDIT: also, I'm cool with putting my dot of Palace (Size) somewhere else if people would prefer something else.

Don't forget to reroll 10s! Then post your total success under your roll, if you would be so kind.

-1 applies to all untrained skills unless they are mental skills, in which case they get -3. If you are reduced to a pool of 0 dice you can always roll 1 chance die. If you get a 1 on that, though, it's a critical failure. sun_tzu, your die roll got flubbed.

Also please post at least once per day. If you can't do that, post a notice about it. We'll skip you if you miss a day. If you miss more than that, you're out. Once again, sorry to be so strict, but 7 players blah blah blah.

Unfortunately, I'm about to move; while I will be able to post once per day or more, those posts might be shorter until I get more time.

yes, you can't edit or preview posts with dice rolls. For that matter, it probably would be smarter to make a thread in a Dice Roller forum, and roll all the dice there, linking the resuls into the IC thread.

and you can almost feel the weight of that gun,

I've got three successes too, they just are scattered on the whole dice thread ><:

First I rolled one dice, not remembering I had a dot in athletics. It was a ten, which I rerolled, brought nothing special.

Then I saw I had one dot in athletics, so I added the two dices missing, for one more ten, which I rerolled for one more ten (the thing in code was a try to show sun_tzu of the rollv balise is working), which brought, this time, nothing more.

So, 3 successes.

Edit: Just saw I was at the opposite: forget it if that's because of that.

Also, are we close enough to sense the other princesses; I ask seeing how our chars aren't aware of each other yet, to my understanding anyway...

You can see anyone who is in the round. If they happened to be transformed you'd recognize them for what they are. I think you're the only one that is transformed at the moment, though.

Inedible: Quick question, are we allowed to speak out of turn during combat; or should we wait until our initiative to say anything.

Everyone: Hey guys, what do you folks think of assigning ourselves colors for our characters speech/thoughts? I think it might make things easier to read and organize, once we all start clustering together in the same scene.

I dunno...Colored speech can often be an eyesore. I recommend instead we open each post with the character's name in bold.

As I often sandwich my dialogue inside my narration, this would get tiresome and difficult.

If a color must be chosen, I shall go with orange.
