No problem; lore checks go off Int. So if you have the skill, you roll your int check plus three for having the skill otherwise it's just straight int.
Ok, I didn't want to spend too long on the opening scene, so I've left it open for people to ask questions in time-split, buy supplies, ask some questions of the old folks and the barman, and then we're off.
Can you add them to my sheet please in your first post :) cheers!
Harthar will also ask the waitress and the barman, in that order and separately, about Passford; and if possible, asking in the market when he buys his gear as well.
Checks:
Waitress: Cha - (1d20+3)[15]
Barman: Cha - (1d20+3)[22]
Merchants/Shopkeepers: Cha - (1d20+3)[16]
Also, I don't know whether my character can ride or not. If he can he will, if he can't he will just put his bags on the horse and lead it.
Can you add them to my sheet please in your first post :) cheers!
Unfortunately, there aren't any riding horses for sale in Yellowgrass. However, you can certainly acquire the rest of it.

"Excuse me miss, do you mind if I ask you a few questions? I happen to be on my way to a place known as Passfurd; have you heard of it?" He waited for her yes or no before asking the real questions, "Can you tell me anything about it and the situation that has befallen it and those who rule it?
Spoiler
Both the bartender and the barmaid know generally of Passfurd - it's about seven days to the north, right up against the mountain (right by a mountain pass, hence the name) where the border with the neighboring kingdom is found. Passfurd town's the last stop on the Northern Road, right by the highest ford of the Tumblestones River.
Anything more specific will require more specific questions.
They don't know much about what's going on beyond what Captain Rebus has told them - some vague unrest that Lord Lucan apparently needs men to deal with. That close to the border, Passfurd's a bit too remote for them. Merchants might know more.
Once the barman was questioned he would move on, out of the common room and toward the market, there to purchase some more items, and riding horse, and whilst he did that he would question the merchants and store owners, asking the same questions; though these fellows he would not tip nearly as much.
Did the merchants know anything? Got a roll of 16 for that one as in my previous post.

Well, if you're just asking the same general questions of the people selling in the market, you'll learn that:
Spoiler
Merchants quite often come through Yellowgrass heading to Passfurd - it's a quite fertile valley, with plenty of wheat, barley, and rye for sale, as well as some regionally well-known beers and distilled liquors that are produced in the town of Passfurd; there's also abundant timber and stone and an iron mine up in the mountains, so the towns of Passfurd is also known as a place to buy sawed timber, dressed stone, wood- and metalworks.
As local shopkeepers as opposed to travelling merchants, they don't go to Passfurd, and the merchants that do go tend to go seasonally, especially around harvest time when the grain crops are sold. They haven't heard about any disorder.
What they have heard about is that trade is down. There hasn't been any ore or metal goods for sale for the past few months - they don't know why, it's possible the mine tapped out or there's some other problem. Over the past three weeks, they did hear about farmers from Passfurd crossing the river to have their grains milled into flour, which hasn't happened before.
Woops, I must have mis-read somewhere about people having the option of walking or riding, hence why I posted about my character choosing to range ahead. Keeping with the whole rangerly fighter aspect. Ahh well, Just take it as him sitting on the back of the cart then.

Actually I read the same thing, that's why my character is on foot. I think he means, since some of us are walking you have to run to be a good distance ahead of the group. Which would make sense given relative speed.
True, I guess, but I wouldn't have to run the whole time. Sure I'd have to do it to put some distance between me and the party, but after that I could walk/jog around to scout ahead/around. Unless everyone is on a horse or the cart, in which case it wouldn't be viable for me to run around everywhere just to keep ahead or keep up.
EDIT: Doesn't matter anyways, not even in an important part yet, so no need to clarify or change anything or complain. Its all pizza :P

Well, people can walk or ride on the cart, but you kind of need to trot to keep up, and you'd have to run to keep ahead of it for any times.
Ok, haven't heard from Dragonal01, so I'm going to assume he didn't make his spot roll, and move on to the next scene. (This is why we need folks to post once per day at least, because it makes sure we maintain momentum)
