Digimon game anyone? (Closed. Feel free to follow or sign up as alternate))
Well I have seen only a handful of digimon games try to be run, so I was wondering if anyone would like to give a shot one more time? I've never GM'ed before so I would probably only do it if no else will. As for the system, in my honest opinion I would prefer freeform. However if that is too uncomfortable for some people please feel free to suggest a system. However if a system is suggested could you please include a link to it for the sake of others. Thank you.

Well lucky me. I finally come back from my hiatus, and look who i find. Nice to see you again, Anime Kid. As you can guess, I'm still interested in a digimon game. So here's to better luck on this one.

Hey guys long time no see. Yeah I figured that if I did a little rabble rousing I could find people willing to play. If we can't find a GM I can take the reins, though I warn you it will be my first time. So expect some plot holes and a little insanity. If I do GM though it will be freeform. Are you guys okay with that? Also I would probably make a character to tag along with you guys. I would try to avoid having them be a person that is better than everyone else. It would more be a way for me to interact with you guys.
I have been a DM in real life before and I use the same play style. I've never had any complaints from my regulars so don't worry about a GMPC that runs everything.

You're talking about playing a game centered around an anime where kids go into computers and team up with data monsters to fight evil... and your warning against PLOT HOLES?
Lol, I am so down, so long as it's based somewhere between seasons 1-3 ... as in, no turing into the digimon ourselves or the other crap they pulled after season 4

Okay then I think we have about enough people to start with including myself. I can GM since if everyone is okay with it. Just so everyone knows the digimentals will play a big part in this. You can choose to be particularly connected to one, but for the most part they will be a great power, they will not be needed to go ultimate.
So everyone go ahead and start making your characters and picking your digimon partners. Try to make characters that would work for a force of good as we will be taking the roles of the heroes. I would probably make the oldest that the characters can be 18. Is that okay with everyone?

Name:Damian Rosier Age:16

Description: Damian is a rather tall lad at a hieght of 6'2, weights 190 pounds, and rather muscular at that. This is mostly due to him being a physical nut. Growing up in California Damian spent almost all of his time out of the house and in the sun. This is the reason he is so deeply tanned and has bleached-clonde hair. If you were to look at his face you would see that he almost constantly has a smile on his face that seems impossible to remove.
Personality: Damian is a pretty happy go lucky guy. He would smile at everyone on his way to school or the gym and he would make sure to spend time with his 5 year old sister Sam when he wasn't doing anything else. He was also a very kind person. He would help old ladies with thier groceries and occasionally give a kid some money for candy. However everyone knew that Damian had a rather nasty temper. Of course he could get angry if you pressed to much but Damian got truly furious, nigh animalistic, when he saw people hurting others. Damian would laugh off most things done or said to him, but is some innocent or a friend of his was hurt because of someone, said someone was likely to turn up with several broken bones. Most bullies at his school have learned that you don't mess with people when Damian was around.
Backstory:Damian wasn't always the kind and helpful person he was today. When he was young he was actually rather selfish and spoiled. He still surfed and exercised a lot because he loved doing anything and everything physical. He didn't interact with his father much due to being out and about, but one day he and his father were grocery shopping when they took a short cut home when he was ten years old.
It was a beautiful day as usual and the grocer wasn't that far so they decided to walk to it. As they walked through an alley they were surrounded by a group of thugs. They said that they didn't want trouble. Just the groceries and all of the money in Damian's fathers pocket. Seeing as they were armed with knives and Damian was with him his father agreed to their terms. They said didn't want any trouble...they lied. As soon as their backs were turned to leave the alley in a hurry Mr. Rosier was stabbed in the back. With that he though his body out as wide as he could to protect Damian, telling him to run and get help. Damian could only watch in horror as more of the thugs stabbed his father, trying to get past him and to Damian. "GOOOOO!" Were the final words he heard from his father as he turned and ran for help.
It was a few minutes later that he returned with police officers to find his father stabbed in multiple places and the miscreants responsible gone. After the funeral Damian spent time in his without going out for two weeks a record and quite worrying for his mother. She talked to him every day to console him about how it wasn't his fault and that no one could have done anything. "What do I do now? I don''t know what dad would want me to do. I can't ask him anymore." These words promted a small smile from his mother as she softly stroked his hair and hugged him tightly as she said, "It will be alright. The pain will lessen but will never go away completely. As for what he would want? Well that's obvious. He would want what he always wanted. For you to become a good man." That day, marked the beginning of Damian's transformation into the man he is today.
Personality: Saber is a fighter through and through. However he does not fight the innocent because there is no honor in that and he does not pick on the weak. He views it as the duty of the strong to protect the weak otherwise what is the point of being strong. He never backs down from a challenge not even to digimon of a higher level than him. He is a steadfast friend who will never abandon those he cares about under any circumstance. He hates to see those who are powerful abuse their power or use it to pick on the weak.
As a last note would anyone like to use the Darkdramon evolutionary line? Would be interesting to have it and a BantyoLiomon evolutionary line on the same side. It would also show how serious the situation is that opposing lines are teaming up together.

Got no problem going with that line. Think it'll still fit my character. Granted I need to ask, would it be okay for me to swap tankdramon out for a different ultimate form?

Sure thing, I mean digimon half don't seem to be confined to one form for certain levels, neither in the anime nor the games. I'm guessing you don't like tankdramon? I personally love and find it hilarious how one of his moves fires 3600 bullets in second and the other is a mini-nuke.
Kind of like how funny it is that Wingdramon can exceed speeds of Mach 20 and his main attack is accelerating to maximum speed and striking someone with a spear that is attached to his back. In the real world we call that a crater.

Oh I have no qualms with Tankdramon himself, just wanted to know if it was an option if I found a form more suitable to my partner's personality and stuff.
And yes, digimon can get pretty over the top. But that's half the fun own't it?

Sure, that was actually the first thing that I was going to post for the OOC thread.
The beings called digimon. Beings made of data that somehow became sentient. Did this happen on its own? Or were their human hands involved? One might as well ask how the universe was formed as you will get wildly varying answers based on what the people you ask believe. What they do know for sure is that they wish to protect their world.
Digimon have interacted with humans many times. Whether it be tales about the original chosen children, the cover up that was unveiled by the Tamers, or the valiant efforts of the Digimon Savers. Digidestined have shook the very foundations of both worlds ever since they had contact. However lately the digital world has been quiet. Attempts for previous chosen children to access the digital world have been met with failure. Perhaps the bond between the worlds had been severed? That was the current theory.
However a group of people, soon to become the new Digidestined would soon learn that this was not the case. Merely that the greatest threat the digital world had every faced was on it's way. The messages before their transport only gave them a clue to how bad it could be. They didn't understand at first, but they soon would. The Seven Shadows cast upon the digital world once more. A foreboding wind spreads. The Deamon Lords may rise again.

Physical Appearance:
Edie stands at around 5'8 and takes pride from being the tallest of his siblings. His sun-kissed skin has scattered scars on his back and legs (most importantly on his left knee from a rather nasty bike accident); and it's quite common to find bruises on him from his latest escapades. As one would expect from a lad as active as him, he posses an athletic build and a tough body; as his vuarious accidents over the years have proven. You'll typically find a digital wristwatch on him and a black and red messenger bag, where he keeps most of his things such as his cellphone and notebooks.
Personality:
Edie is a very hands-on and outgoing person; always being the first one to try out and never in the sidelines. He can come out as brash or reckless at times but that's not true. He just doesn't think too far ahead or too hard about consequences. He lives in the moment and speaks his mind freely; which often makes him come out as blunt as a baseball bat and smooth as sand paper. He's boisterous and rather excitable, being prone to over react. One could easily find him in a crowed, he's pretty hard to miss; he's the guy who almost fell off the railings trying to catch the home run ball and laughs after hitting the floor below with the ball in his hand. He loves doing things and being with people, and tends to get frustrated when he has to slow down so others can keep up; though depending on the company he might not mind. He loves a good challenge and has a certain charm about him; which attracts people to him.
He's persistent, smart and is very bold; which typically means he'll find away to get what he wants, even if he has to do something incredibly stupid to do so. Though he's never been one for book smarts; he knows it's important, but he just can't seem to get interested in most subjects to the disappointment of various teachers. He's shown ingenuity and the ability to think under pressure, which makes his disinterest in his studies all the more infuriating. They just can't seem to keep his interest, and by George have they tried.
While somewhat foolish at times, he is a great friend. He'll always be there when you need him and probably when you don't think you do...or want him too. He has a habit of making his way into peoples lives and finding out what there problems are. His family beat into him the importance of friendship and one's word. After all with out good friends and family life's not really worth living is it?
Background:
Little Edie was a happy child, living on small island in the Caribbean. He had a loving mother and father, three siblings (an older sister and the other two a younger pair of twins) and a pet cat named Mia. Since his father was out for most of the day due to work, it meant that little Edie was the man of the house; which meant it was his job to help his mom with the twins, annoy the hell out of his older sister and scarf down enough sweets with his friends to give a baby elephant diabetes. All was well and good in those days; then it all went wrong.
One fateful day his father had to leave; having been called back into active duty. So it was that amongst tearful farewell Eddie promised to take care of things until his old man came back; a promise between men they called it. For a time things were fine, not great, but alright. They wrote to each other whenever they could, even spoke on occasion; until some time ago he stopped. Two weeks passed in silence until one day a man arrived at their door with the answer. Their had been an attack on his fathers convoy, and a really bad storm. He was too shocked to properly grasp all the details. However, the one thing he did understand was this. Half a month had passed and his father had not been found. It didn't look good. He was most likely dead.
Eddie wouldn't accept that; his father had promise, he was a man of his word. He'd come back, of this Eddie was sure; while most of his family hoped the same, their belief wasn't as strong. Ever since he's felt an odd tension in the air within his home; and though his mother and family might try to hide it from him, he can see the stress getting to them. They already believe the worst; but he won't, he can't.
His school trip to New York is soon though; he offered to stay and help, but his mother insisted that he'd go; saying it would do him some good and that it had already been paid for so it'd be a waste not to go. He couldn't help but agree. A vacation would be nice; seeing no sites, spending time with friends, meeting new people, making memories. Ediie couldn't help but get exited about it again, even if he was still a tiny bit reluctant to leave his family; but hey it was just a short vacation, what could go wrong?

Cyrus is a bit of a d!ck to be honest. For all his military know-how and internalized protocols, this commandramon's playfulness and competitive edge can be hardly suppressed most of the time; more often than not teasing others for the sole sake of getting a rise out of them and messing with their heads, but it's generally all in good fun. Eager and perhaps a bit reckless with himself; he all too often finds himself knee deep in trouble, but has an awfully persistent tendency of pulling things out of his ass at the last moment to change the tides. Most of the time he doesn't seem to take things to seriously, frequently teasing does who seem to rigid in their ways, but often is the first to shift gears the moment the crap hits the fan for real. Cyrus might like to act like an ass at times and talk big, but he knows where his priorities lay.
God help you if you mess with his priorities.

Yeah season 3 is in continuity. The digivices are going to be modeled after the Digivice IC's from Digimon Savers. To me they seem to be the most tuned to the spirit and development of the characters.
For example, Marcus. His fists and fighting spirit unlock Agumon's champion evolution. However it is only when he realizes that he has to not only fight for himself but use his fists to fight for and protect others that he unlocks the evolution to ultimate.
Of course it can also be just about becoming stronger internally, like Yoshino did. Also nice to see you guys are going to get to play the characters you created Regalus and Assurau.

Same here. I put a lot of thought into Renji and Tsuki. They were the first time i suprised a gm and was praised on good character design.

Description:
Standing at 5' 8", Renji Mikage carries himself with the air of a practiced martial artist. His lightly tanned skin and athletic build are result of the constant training in the arts of combat. As meticulous as he is with his training, he is with his appearance. His long, raven black hair is always tied up in a braided tail. His ebon eyes carry an intense gaze, that often cause misunderstandings about him. As for clothing, he prefers the uniform his grandfather made for him (see pic). If for some reason he can't use it or isn't in the mood for it, he wears jeans, sneakers a short-sleeved shirt, cap and a jacket. He chooses clothing that is comfortable and easy to move in.
Personality:
Due to his training under his grandfather, Renji has developed a cool, calm and introspective mind. This has caused him to seem aloof or even indifferent, which would be the furthest from the truth. More often than not, you will find him, either meditating on some new text or lesson he's received or practicing some new technique. Deeply caring and loyal to fault, He is willing to give his all for those he call blood brothers, which are only a select few. To all others, he is cordial, respectful and amiable; as long as you don't cross him or his blood bothers. As of yet, he has not designated any of his peers as a blood brother. Hardworking and dedicated, he devoted a good deal of his time to the practice of the martial arts, as well as his studies. He, much like his grandfather, can be very stubborn especially in the pursuit of his goals.
Background:
Renji is the only child of Takeru Mikage and Sakura Todoroki. Loving parents that they were, they care deeply for their son. So for a time, everything was well. Spending time together, going to the park and other such activities were part of his family life. However after his seventh birthday, a change swept his parents. Becoming aware of the recent tragedies around the world, they decided to do something about it. They became volunteer workers for international relief efforts. As a now child of volunteer workers, Renji rarely saw his parents, spending most of his time living with his Grandfather, Gentaro Mikage. As former champion and martial arts grandmaster, Gentaro saw fit that Renji could benefit the self-discipline he had gained from them. This task wasn't an easy one, as Renji wanted nothing to do with the old man. Renji had taken to lashing out against the old man and it wasn't until one of Gentaro's "extreme" camping trips, that his grandfather saw what was wrong with Renji. Seeing that his grandson still missed his parents as much as he missed them himself, they bonded together to deal with their loneliness. Since then, they still butt heads, both being equally stubborn, but have come to understand each other. Much to his own surprise, Renji discovered much about himself through the study of martial arts. Renji has understood the reasons why his parents felt they had to act as well as to why they had left him in the care of his grandfather. However, He still holds some anger towards them, because they left him behind. So while he still cares for them, he views Gentaro as more of a father than his own.He and his grandfather arrived in New York to meet his parents, who are on leave, as well as to participate in a mixed martial arts tournament.

Personality: Much like the other Lunamon, Tsuki doesn't like being alone. However her shyness often prevents her from making friends easily. So usually, she spends her time being close enough to hear the voices of others, while remaining hidden. When she does make a friend she can trust, Tsuki tend to become a bit clingy, as they act as a security blanket. Should she be attacked, she will defend herself enough to escape, but if it's her friends the ones being be threaten, she will lash out at the aggressor with all her fury.

You can be just about any ethnicity. Just make sure that your character can speak, lets say english. Would that be acceptable? Besides for some reason digidestined across the world seem to ignore language barriers.

Piemaster: This game apparently will be following Tamers and, to some extent, Savers. There is no real focal point in this setting of digidestined activity. So yeah; we're looking at a Global SOS from the digital world here.
AnimeKid: Three things. Actually appearantly Izzy installed a translator into the digivices with Gennai's assistance, and the digital world does apperantly have different languages based on the real world area it's network is tied to...That said, if the digital world is going out of it's way to do a global call it's safe to say that our digivices will likely have some sort of Universal Translator function; at least as far as audio is concerned.
Granted I do have a few setting questions.
1)Which took place first Tamer's or Savers in this world?
2)Does the public know about digimon by this point? From your comment regarding Tamer's I assume that's a yes.
3)Is there any notable changes betweem cannon events and our own timeline?

1. Savers took place first. The Savers team did their best to keep up the illusion. They even had a device that wiped memories. This is mostly because at the time such an organization was needed. However after the Tamer kids saved the digital world it was realized that while there are evil digimon and evil people who would abuse their power, there are others that would defend people and digimon just as the chosen did.
2. People and partners are still monitored but they are don't do mind wipes indiscriminately. So yeah people know about digimon. However due to being concerned about digimon security in the real world that the digital was somewhat forgotten.
3. The only notable changes I can think of is that the Digimon Savers act as a police force for digimon crimes. The reason that Tamers got as bad as it did was because they were solving global crimes committed by digimon and human pairs. This is why Hypnos came into existence as a splinter group with more extreme methods.
