It said something along the lines of (I don't have exact wording) 'The site www.heresy-online.com is asking you to log in. It says "Under Maintenance".' After this there was a space for a username and password. I escape-keyed out of it and didn't give it a second thought until a friend mentioned the same thing happening, at which point I thought I should bring it to the attention of the board staff.
If it helps, I run Ubuntu and my friend runs Windows 7, so I strongly suspect that whatever it is is forum-based.

Almost certainly someone has posted an image or is using an avatar/signature image hosted on that site. Track down the thread(s) it happens in.

This may have been the source of my complaint a couple weeks ago that I saw a "Giant in the playground has asked you to take a survey" popup which was obvious advertising spamware. Perhaps someone was hosting an image or some such from somewhere? At any rate, the problem has not recurred.

I've broken the URLs to the image files. If they haven't logged on in a while, then please report one of their posts. Note in the report that it's a user who hasn't logged in for a while with a Heresy-Online link that needs being broken.
We're not going to issue warnings/infractions to people who aren't doing it deliberately.

There is a heresy online popup here, though I cannot pinpoint it's source. I've checked all the avatars except for those with alt text and my own, and checked all the images in signatures, but none appear to be using it.

Just got a really odd HO popup - something asking for authentication, but in a different-shaped box, and with a message that included the words "fixing s***" (not censored). Obviously if some 6-year-old is on the forum, got this message, and began quoting the message every five seconds in his mother's presence, we could get into trouble, so I would suggest the mods keep an eye out for this problem and take some sort of action once it's discovered.
Do you know where you saw that popup? That might help narrow down whose signature is causing it.
I don't suppose there is a way to have the forum break all links to heresy-online and put a message that it is not an acceptable place to host images. That would be far too easy on the mods.
