Evil Gestalt Campaing (3.5, looking for GM and players)
Discussing playing evil character in OOC of one game I'm in made me want to finally try a character of Gestalt Dread Necromancer//Paladin of Tyranny I made some time ago. Therefore I ask - anybody is up to play Evil Gestalt Campaing? Anyone willing to DM?
The only thing I would want from the DM is to let me play Aasimar noblewoman, outside that I can work her backstory around to fit whatever setting or plot you want. Rest - banned classes, take on homebrews and dragon magazines, how to determine ability scores and hp, houserules - is up to DM in question, in those things I'm quite flexible player (and hell, if we'll find GM for whom I couldn't flex my character enough to make her fit, I'll just make new one).
And the only thing I would want from other potential players is to avoid Stupid Evil - instead of authorities kiling us after first murder sphree, we should let our own mistrust, schemes and backstabbings do it .
Re: Evil Gestalt Campaing (3.5, looking for GM and players)
Depends on the type of evil, but yes I'd love to play an evil character for once.
The only evil character I am currently playing is a greedy cleric and he has effectively become a cross between a thief and an investment banker.

Re'ozul, that character reminds me of the Orzhov guild. Still wish that they where in Return to Ravnica and not the second booster..-__-...anyway, I have some degree of interest in this. It all depends on the 16, really.
Knowing my usual tastes, I'll probably be playing SOMETHING with casting. Since the OP is going dread necro I won't be doing my usual thing of necromancy. If we start off high-level enough I'm thinking about going wizard/wrym wizard on one side of the gestalt and taking some of the "dragon" themed spells like the dragon ally line and such. If we start off low level then I'm not sure what I'll go...
Re: Evil Gestalt Campaing (3.5, looking for GM and players)
Since my other game thread for the Kitsunemori campaign setting has yet to get much interest I'll just throw it out there even though chances of it being used are slim due to the fact most of you probably don't have that book.
Re: Evil Gestalt Campaing (3.5, looking for GM and players)
Exceptionally interested. No particular preference for setting... I mean, all in all I'd prefer Pathfinder, because I'm more familiar with the system and setting. Perfectly willing to do 3.5, but I know very little about any particular canon setting.

I would be down to join in. I am thinking of either creating a more stealthy character or a massive bruiser. For an actual setting I have no real preference.
Re: Evil Gestalt Campaing (3.5, looking for GM and players)
Dunno really, I could play anywhere. How about this - we all try to contribute something to the world by our characters' backstories and then you would connect the dots and fill the blanks? Unless of course somebody has better ideas.

Sure, just like good old 1e. Let me get the big 16 going.

Re: Evil Gestalt Campaing (3.5, looking for GM and players)
I give you: THE BIG !^ (yes, that's there on purpose)
•1. Game System: D&D 3.5
•2. Type/Variant: Standard pseudo-mediveal. Don't take this too seriously, I'm going for a "whatever dosen't kill the game goes" feel here.
•3. Players: 3-6 plus 2-3 subs
•4. Medium: GitP forums
•5. Starting Status: Let's say... 3rd level
•6. Starting Gold: Level standard (2700)
•7. Classes & Homebrew: Run anything outside of standard rulebooks by me
•8. Species: All standard plus homebrew if OK'd by me
•9. Ability Generation: Standard 4d6 best 3
•10. Alingment: Must be evil or evil-inclined (say CN)
•11. Multiclassing: Standard gestalt rules: http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/cl...Characters.htm
•12. Die Rolling: Honor system allowed, prefered format of rolls stating action/skill attempted, dice rolled, modifiers, and result
•13. DM-Introduced Homebrew: Rich Burlew's Diplomacy skill fix
•14. Background: World will be shaped around character background, so feel free to do whatever here.
•15. Game Style: This one is up to how you want to play. We can do this like Mass Effect (talk, then kill or don't kill different people based on the conversation), Call of Duty (kill 'em all), or Metal Gear (sneaking and talking)
•16. Rulebooks: Standard PHB, plus anything OK'd by me.

Sorry to hear that. I like starting low level, but not quite at the bottom. What did you have in mind?

Eventually, through it's not necessary for what I envisioned with this character, I could ask if you would allow Half-Nymph Template.
Can you get me anything about the Dread Necromancer's stats?
That template there is a fairly good example of what I've noticed. Homebrew, no matter how well built, tends to in some way be overpowered. However, seeing as homebrew is open to the entire party, if all characters are equally overpowered, it balances out. Approved, and other players encouraged to bring any homebrew they like to the table.

Re: Evil Gestalt Campaing (3.5, looking for GM and players)
Dread Necromancer is a spellcaster in a vein similar to the Warmage or the Beguiler - they give up most of the versatility of the Wizard for spontaneous casting from a predetermined list; in the Dread Necromancer's case, it is mostly necromancy. They also get some bonuses to creating undead, undead-like traits (cumulating in becoming undead at level 20), and a fear aura.

Level Adjustment, characters start lower level in order to have more powerful races/templates.
Edit: Also, a evolution for Swarmlings (in the Swarmlord) Allows for manifesting through swarmlings and with more points casting, will you allow Spell-Like Abilities to count as casting for the purposes of this evolution.
