Ongoing Games (In-Character)Play-by-post games are going on in this forum as we speak (well, read). All threads on this board are actual games, so please, only post on a thread if you are a player of that game.
In the city-state of Mistspire, you have been hired by the authorities to investigate the disappearance of three people who worked as servants at Chell Manor, a looming castle-like mansion belonging to the successful merchant Kadrin Tarik. Kadrin has always had an obsession with supernatural trinkets, which he collects. It is believed that his hobby may have had something to do with the vanishings.
The great house stands before you, its gates thick with ivy and its structing beginning to sag under the merciless rain. You know there to be three ways to get in: a main entrance, a servant's entrance, and a pair of double-doors leading to the great hall from the courtyard.
I examine the main entrance more thoroughly to see if I can enter it easily, and to see if I notice anything that could be dangerous (Traps). I am not one for stealth and would like to go in valiantly to find the missing.

"Are you kidding?" Aldric asks the dwarf incredulously. "Eager to help us? Certainly not. An imposing manor, a merchant with suspicious interests, missing persons...it's right out of a mystery novel!" The wizard does not at all look disappointed at the prospect of living through a mystery novel, probably forgetting that said novels are usually dangerous for the investigators. "I mean, gods above, the only thing that could make this more exciting would be an ominous crash of thunder and flash of lightning!"
The wizard looks up into the rainy sky and seems vaguely disappointed when no thunder and lightning occur. "Well...fine, then. Still, the front doors are a bad idea, they're easily watched and easily trapped. I suggest the rear entrance. That's always the better choice in these circumstances."

if you want to sneak in then go for it, I will follow. I think it is rude and not kind to enter without making your presence known And the dwarf steps aside and motions for others to lead the way.
"Huahuahuaha" Brom guffaws, "There is no need for such dishonorable tactics as sneaking in. If he is truly responsible then we will shall deal with him head on. And if not, we will have spared ourselves the dishonor of breaking into an innocent man's home."
With that he strides up to the door giving it a knock.
"glad to see someone else agrees with me, do it the lawful way and let the unjust fall where they are struck" and Aerok stands behind with his weapon ready.
"Yes, honor, justice, oh boy," Aldric says, rolling his eyes. "This is just going to get us killed, and if it does and this merchant isn't a necromancer who's going to bind our souls and torture them forever, I swear I will haunt you forever."

"Me and my trusty axe Ezmerelda will make short work of anyone that comes at us out of anger. I don't deal with that anymore..." As he is stroking his weapon, he gazes off as though he is recalling memories of past pains still bleeding as if newly inflicted. I remember my youth as a standard action...

"Hrmm, don't think he heard us." Brom sighed as he brought his warhammer up from its baldric. "Maybe I should knock harder." ((Unless someone else does something, Brom will proceed to beat on the door with his hammer repeatedly until someone comes to open it or it breaks down.))
"Then let us be on our way to the back door, we have fulfilled out need to enter lawfully and announced. Now we must hasten to save those which are gone. And Aerok starts to walk towards the back, Ezemeralda drawn ready to leap into all that seem imposing.
Sliding the hammer back into it's ring, Brom follows behind Aerok and Aldric, grumbling all the while. The merchant was not proving himself to be very hospitable.
Nyelle is surely stealthy and a good climber, but watching the others at work isn't less entertaining than doing it by herself. And why should she reveal her profession? But as longer they try it as higher is the chance they get watched by some guard.
Well boys, why don't you let me try it? I have climbed once or twice. And maybe i can open the windows, too.
"Go ahead," Aldric tells Nyelle, a note of relief in his voice. "The only climbing I've done in years is going up and down the stairs of my master's tower."

There are many windows you could climb through. Notable accessible windows include one near the front door, one near the servant's entrance, and one near the courtyard.
Not feeling like actually breaking the door down, Brom returns to his companions.
"If you must insist on sneaking in, might I suggest the one near the front door so that we can unlock it. I don't like all this skulking about when we're not even sure Mr. Tarik is even responsible for the disappearances. He could even be a victim of his own collection."
Aldric's eyes light up at Brom's suggestion. "Ooh, I didn't even think of that! Maybe there's a demon possessing a book, or a bunch of ghosts come to reclaim possessions stolen from them, or...." He goes on to suggest a few more increasingly-unlikely possibilities, then stops with a sheepish grin. "Er, sorry. Anyway, Brom's right, it might not be the merchant after all. So trying to unlock the door would be a good idea. Send Nyelle through this window where she can't be seen from the street, and then have her sneak to the door and let the rest of us in, perhaps?"
