Btw... I love Arlommart - it's where i get my milk and daily dose of HORROR
I am so filling Arlom with sunshine and rainbows. Metaphorically of course.
And I thought it was the Librarian. He won't recognise it per se, but it will feel familiar to him due to his attempted study of its victims and the picking up of its essence.

Huh, wouldn't it be more efficient to have Dr. Arlom fill out a prescription so you can get like 60 doses of HORROR at once and take them home in pill form instead of having to go to Arlommart every single day? I'm sure it has a pharmacy...

Sure - you might even think it's a manifestation of Arlom. Up to you really.

But then you'll miss out on all the pretty sighs and neon lights on your daily routine!
Yes. The Debate serves only itself and others only in furtherance of its goals. We seek the answer to the First Question and all others and will not be stopped if we have to destroy all of Creation to do so. So no, not so different at all. I hope you do not interfere again.
Ah, didn't realize I was dealing with a mislabeled alignment. That's obvious CN behavior. If I would have known you mislabeled the C/L axis, I wouldn't have had any complaint with the behavior.
EDIT: Or maybe TN, with a Chaotic bent.

It is anti-social, but it is driven enough towards a specific goal to qualify for lawful under certain readings, I think.
Quote:
Lawful characters tell the truth, keep their word, respect authority, honor tradition, and judge those who fall short of their duties.
Chaotic characters follow their consciences, resent being told what to do, favor new ideas over tradition, and do what they promise if they feel like it.
In quotes, a quote from the Player's Handbook of 3.5 D&D. I could see neutrality on that axis, but not Law. Lawful individuals don't make majorly Chaotic actions. TN, maybe. CN, definitely. Not LN.
He's an example of The Unfettered. I think, by definition, The Unfettered cannot be Lawful.

I can see why that might work but I said lawful because Nous really follows a code of intellectual freedom and likes order. One of the main reasons I think it is lawful rather than chaotic because Nous would do something it really disliked if that was some resolved point or something that was the best way at furthering the Debate. Its lawful nature was one of the reasons Nous attacked rather than talking it out -- he was angry about the devourer and edri going against the pantheon like that.
I think it was more clear when I spelled out Nous's internal dialog. He thinks in an internal debate and everything it does externally is a resolved point of it. I just stopped doing that because it makes simple things really long and just takes up space.
That said, the difference between chaotic and lawful neutral is basically how big the idea you're following is.
