Rachel raises an eyebrow at the sight of the little parachuters. She'll even hold out a hand to catch one.

These are little toy army men. Did somebody drop a bunch out of a plane? She looks up, just in case.

Krystal nods, and will carry the unconscious woman wherever is needed.

Alilia peers at the little army mans, intrigued!

The little army mans are little!

And green!

And there are a whole lot of them.

Aside from their unusual place of origin (an angry green bank of storm clouds high above) there doesn't seem to be anything terribly remarkable about them. Though if they're turned over there's an odd logo on the bottom of each toy.

It's a weird, squiggly looking thing. Like a question mark with two more curves on the bottom.

Wonder what it could mean?

Green men

A young woman opens her door and lets her two children, a young boy and girl who look almost like they could be twins, out. She looks up at the sky and frowns.

Be careful, dears.

Her children ignore her, though, and excitedly collect a handful of the little green soldiers. They set about launching a war against each other with their collected armies, playing out epic battles.

The woman picks up one of the soldiers and inspects it carefully. She mutters and incantation and her eyes flash gold for a moment as she performs a detect magic spell.

There doesn't appear to be an answer forthcoming! Aside from the logo on the bottom there are no other marks on the toys.

Though other people in the park certainly seem to be curious. Parents aren't totally sure what to make of it. This is the Nexus after all. Children are dutifully collecting the toys and playing with them as one might expect children to do.

"Huh... wonder what this is all about..." mutters a rather wizardy looking fellow nearby. One can tell he's a wizard due to his frumpy hat and massive white beard.

[Green Men in the Streets]

The scrying spell will determine that the toys are little more than magical constructs. Otherwise normal water that has been warped by chaotic magic into the consistency of plastic. Each enchantment isn't all that powerful. But considering that there are probably millions, if not more, of the toys raining all over the city it says something about whoever set up this event.

And...

It's hard to place.

But there's something subtly wrong about the magic.

Just as she does every day at dusk, Callie Pyrsol enters the park to meditate in nature.

Rachel hears the obvious wizard. Thinking he may know something she doesn't on this matter, she seeks his advice.

Hey, uh, sir? You happen to know anything about these? She shakes the army guy in her hand a little, indicating what she's talking about.

Having, I believe, been told to go here...
Callie leads them here, looking for her time-woobity-half-sister; if she sees her she'll hang back a bit, getting nervous. Probably really not wise to just run in and interrupt her after all...

Alilia frowns, turning the toy over in her hands and sniffing at it; the alien girl glances down at the very non-secret wizard when Rachel asks him stuff.

Andy, meanwhile, looks ready to just walk right up to Callie unless someone stops her first.

"Eh?" the wizard replies, pushing the brim of his hat up with a thumb. "Puzzling over it myself. They're just rain water, I think. Enchanted to be these little trinkets."

He turns it over and peers at the symbol on the bottom.

"Can't say I know what this thing means, though. Something a might unsettling about it..." the exposition wizard mutters.

So...

They're spooky magical army men?

"They don't seem to be dangerous. Can't read any magic on them aside from what's holding their shape."

Rachel is even more puzzled now.

Huh...That's different. Kinda seems like a waste of time, you know? Making these out of just water. I mean...why do it?

Little green men

The woman frowns some more. She drops the little man to the ground and attempts to crush it beneath her heel. A ferret comes darting out of the doorway and sniffs at one of the soldiers.

Her children change their game, playing the role of monsters stomping their way through battalions of helpless little men. Oh the humanity.

"Can't say I rightly know," the exposition wizard replies with a shrug. "Whoever did this must have power to spare. These enchantments aren't that incredible on their own. But to repeat it so many times?"

He just shakes his head. "Maybe it's all some sort of absurd gag. Wouldn't be the first time the Nexus has had this kind of nonsense going on."

The poor army man is crushed!

No doubt he would bewail his fate if not for the fact that he's an inanimate object. But since he is his little plastic body is just mangled horribly. The enchantment doesn't end as a result of the violence. Still made of plastic and all.

Callie doesn't look a lot like Caledonia. She's as beautiful as her mother, but her facial characteristics are different, presumably resembling her father. She has long mahogany colored hair and black colored fox ears and tail. She is dressed in generic modern attire.

Bella tries to grab Andy and hold her back until they can come up with a plan to approach her.

Andy gets grabbed, giving Bella another dirty look.
Hey, she's a dirty girl.
"I trust you have a cunning plan..."

Little Green Men

The kids continue their games and the woman heads back inside. The ferret keeps a close eye on the children.

Inside, the woman scrounges around until she finds an old wand of dispel magic that she keeps around for emergencies. She gives it a quick shine before heading back outside. She targets one of the little men and uses the wand.

Tina laughs when Shrike jumps out've the pool, glancing around for Myrim. "For an Exalt, you sure get spooked easy. Guess she found your one weakness."

And Dave, being the actual doctor around here, shews Tsan and Krystal away from the girl.
After he got them to put it on the room's table, of course. Which is one of those comfy ones that doctors have.
"Now, what seems to be the problem? And for the love of god, don't try to fix the patient if you're not a doctor."

The pie goes into her mouth!
"Om nom nom."
She swallowed!
Her eyes got that glazed look again as she smiled and tried to hug Cacida.
"Hey, Sis! How'd I get in here?"

Krystal takes slight offense to the second comment. He could have been polite, at least.

Hey, I was just doing what first aid I knew.

Anyways, I saw her drop from the sky. She got back up and stayed conscious long enough to say she was okay. Then she went out like a light, and I brought her here.

Rachel stares at the army guy for another moment, then shrugs.

Well, whatever it is, they did a good job on making them. Probably a lot of effort in making so many.

She chuckles a little at Alilia.

Dave's Clinic
"When you bring a patient to my office, I help them. Not you. Otherwise they may sue me for something you did..."
He looks over the woman as a glowing golden breath briefly floats out of her mouth.
"Ah...I see. There's nothing wrong with her at all! She's simply still regenerating. She must have had to because something or other was going to kill her..."
Dave takes the pot of tea off the burner and pours a cup, before pouring said tea into the woman's mouth.
"All that's needed is a good cup of tea."
And bing!
Bang!
The woman wakes up!
"What's the year and where am I!?"

Ayakan frowned.
"Come on Sis, if you're gonna make a joke, at least make it believable..."
Oh yeah.
Ayakan doesn't believe in the fact that she becomes murder-y without supor slime.

The alien girl notices the chuckle and smiles back, still turning the toy over in her hands.

She sighs. Well, something certainly made you get a bit careless with your back-scratching.

Bite the army man!

It tastes like plastic. Which is to say, not much. Probably isn't edible. Don't eat it!

"Which is what's so odd about this," the exposition wizard mutters. "It would take a lot of power to do this. But it seems kind of pointless. Unless someone really wanted to supply everyone with a bunch of army men."

Does seem odd, doesn't it?

[Little Green Men]

One of the army men is dispelled! A tiny pulse of chaotic magic is unbound, causing the pavement around the toy to turn bright plaid as the toy is reduced to a puddle of water.

Hmm...

Seems they release the magic that was used to shape them when the spell ends.

That...

That might cause a problem if the spell were to fail all at once.
