You seem less... belligerent than the rest. You are the mage in their group, are you not? Why have you come to my lake and attacked me? I was defending my home, and you come in as thieves. One even attempted on my life, and now, your quest is at a terrible standstill. You seem like a reasonable sort, tell me. What is your name?
@The Party: You reach the shore of the lake and Gigglemug approaches you from the grove's entrance.
"Did you get the fang? Let's go, then! We have little time!"

Xander Corillian, a humble follower of the Oeridian god of Reason, Delleb, and yes, I suppose I would be the mage of the group. I must apologize for my companions, I have just recently made there acquaintance, and they appear a little hasty at times, and they seem to jump to conclusions easily.
I suspect they believe you to be in league with the lich Kazym, who has entered the forest, corrupted Balion, and manipulated the druid into assisting him in corrupting and despoiling the forest, slaying countless fey, and turning The Shepherd into his undead Slave. The lich's primary goal we suspect involves the goddess in Swans Rest. We require your Fang in order to pass the thorn gate.
As for your method of defending your home, might I suggest a way in witch you at least allow those that enter the ability to speak, had I the ability to communicate this whole mess could have been avoided. however you are in the right for defending yourself in your own home.
Allow me a moment to speak with them, Tarith seems worried about some items he lost, that will be necessary in stopping the lich, with out them our
Allow me a moment to speak with them.
In response to Tarith, just before he jumps in.
Tarith, Dantie I think we may have acted in haste, and may want to address this situation from another angle. Our primary goal here is to retrieve the fang, Tarith, you battled the creature and in the end managed to lose your daggers, witch we now must retrieve, but we also may have lost out lead to the Fang, the creature has contacted me mentally, and I will attempt to negotiate both the return of Tariths items, and aid in locating the Fang. I assure you all it is no Vampire, Had it foolishly not taken away my ability to speak I could have informed you both it is a Glaistig, and does not appear in league with the lich, I suggest we see if it is not to late to gain her aid in some way still.
@Xander: Yes...my hospitality leaves much to be desired, Xander. But understand, I have lived here alone for many, many centuries. Nobody comes to see me. I can imagine it is because of my feeding habits. The Witch of the Fens, I am called. I mentioned Balion did not allow Kazym access to my grove. I never told you why. I am tied to this lake. And this lake, is tied to me. We are bound, through a relationship that, should it be severed, it would spell death to the entire Fey Woods. This body of water feeds the trees, the land. If I die, Kazym's goal to despoil the forest will accelerate exponentially. I was about to explain to dantie what I wanted. A simple exchange. And then, your brash friend jumped in. Using deceit to try and cloud my reasoning. I must rest now, but if you want the Fang, tell your comrades to wait until sunrise tomorrow.
Thank you for your understanding, I will do my best to convince the others, I wish for you to sleep fitfully though the night. The one that attacked you however will not be satisfied if I deliver no word on his weapons, and will most likely spend the night scouring the depths of your lake for both you and his daggers, risking disrupting your rest. Will you be able to aid in the return of his items as well?
(going with ignoring my earlier post)
"Xander it doesn't really matter. I did not attack her because she was a vampire, but because she tried to charm me, and then tried to dispel my defenses. Now, she has also taken my ring, and my daggers, which was basically everything I managed to get in Justcrown. Not sure if peace will work out. Either way, I will be retrieving my items"
Tarith casts alter self, and jumps in, swimming to the battle location, intending on locating his daggers, and then trying to find Anzuril's Lair

Tarith, seems very intent on the return of his daggers, and had no wish to speak on the matter, he has reentered the waters, and I have no way of pursing him, I can be of no aid in convincing him to change his course.
Xander walks to the shore, and fills his vials with water from the lake.
@Xander: How unfortunate. Your friend dives into unknown waters. He will not find me. He will, however, regret not listening to your words. If the rest are still willing to speak with me, I shall meet you at the same islet where we met today, at sunrise.
May we rest on the shore of you lake for the night?
I do hope Tarith finds his items down there quickly, Anzaril warns he will regret his decision and speaks as if he is already dead. Dantie do you have any way contact or aid him?
Anzaril says we may meet her in the morning at the same islet we met her at in the morning, in order to retrieve the Fang.
@Tarith: You plunge into the water while adopting the fishfolk guise and begin to swim deftly through the reeds and kelp, going deeper down into the lake. The place is dark, with green patches of moss and kelp waving against your scaly skin. You can see above you the small islets floating about. The sun is almost down for the day, and who knows what may live down here besides Anzaril. Then, you hear her in your mind.
Petulant child! You are the one they call Tarith, aren't you? You come down here alone again, even when you lost the first time. Mortals, do they not understand the frailty of their lives? Turn back to the shore, Tarith, while you still can...
I may have lost, but as I recall, you were nearly dead as well. I will not be returning without my stuff. If I am to fight this lich, they are needed, and that ring was the result of a lot of hard work. Did you enjoy getting spell drained?
Tarith continues along his merry way, heading towards the location where the fight occurred.

@Tarith: So that is what you did! A thief in all possible ways, and now you venture here alone. Well... enjoy your wild goose chase, Tarith. You are about to swallow your own words... or will they swallow you?
Well, counter roll time

@Tarith: You hide among the kelp and look around. About 60 ft. away, you see a very large snake. This one has tough scales covering its body and moss has grown on its hide, giving it a green color to better match its environment. The creature is 20ft, long and has a menacing look, and a very large mouth, shaped like a squat parrot's beak. Another one is 40ft. away from you in the opposite direction.
Well, it is a good thing they did not see me. I doubt I could beat them without my ring
Watching the snakes warily as he swims past them, Tarith manages to evade them
(they don't get another check until they have an idea he is there, and underwater, I don't think they can hear him)

They do have a Listen check. Make a Move Silently check, even underwater. Since these creatures prey for animals down there. The checks have already been rolled, so all you need is one good roll so they won't hear you.
You dart pass the lake leviathans and your webbed feet create a ripple in the water as you dart at full speed. One of the creatures roars in your direction and starts moving. The other one, alerted by the roar, follows the first one's lead.

Alas, the check was in the OOC, and it was not good enough, If you allow a second one...(1d20+17)[26](-5 penalty for movement)

Ok so how many turns has Tarith taken? I may have a way to help him, checking now. Nope I was thinking of summon hound Achorn, teleport, then teleport again but, yea can't breath underwater. But I can do something using that idea. So yea forget it Dantie can do nothing for the group.

@Tarith: Then, you notice it. They had been clinging to your body all along for the ride, yet they had induced no pain. Leeches, hundreds of them, silently stuck to your body.
Uhoh. Leeches are not a good thing to have along. Not sure if I can get rid of them down here either. Might be able to scrape them off, though
Horrified at the sight of the leeches sucking the life from him, Tarith tries scraping them off, using whatever surfaces are available, as well as his hands and fins.

Also continuing to move at full speed
Figuring this is probably a swim check, so(1d20+7)[25]
