I've never done contests before, and, looking at things... I don't really WANT to just to qualify for tough guy. I had an idea in my backstory that he was a coordinator in training who had just earned his first few ribbons when he suffered a tragedy that nearly killed him and did kill his original team of pokemon. Since then, he's been obsessed with death and looking for a way to have power over death. He's turned to Team Ostra after the accident, finding the League's aversion to killing to be far too sentimental for this harsh world.
Any chance you'd let me have two of my backstory levels up to this point be from tough contest ribbons?

That sounds great! Yeah, having tough ribbon levels would be perfectly fine.

On the ranger concept, the plan was either as a well trained washout because he lacked the loyalty to the group (stole and hid enough gear to pass as one, as they do have access to quite a bit), or someone who did have the requirements for both, but lacked the loyalty to the Rangers, faking their own death and purchasing a special spec ops suit off the black market, basically choosing self exile for their own reasons and goals. Are both viable, and can the spec ops armor conceal his identity? I have some plans that should be fun for the other group.
Responses 2: Electric BoogalooEsprit gave a great summary of how any overlap between the types of Kinesis and actual moves would be crazy OP, so generally speaking you can do fancy things outside of battle but nothing that would have a real impact in one.
Figured as much. Still, though, casting a small room/large part of a battlefield in complete darkness is quite awesome, though it would probably cost a bunch of actions to sustain, and I could get actual moves later. By the way, thanks for the explanation, Esprit.

Just one big thing about your backstory, you couldn't have gotten a Chimchar from battling Zayir--he only gives out Flying and Electric types. You could stylize it as having gotten another irrelevant Flying or Electric type that has since been lost in some fashion, or you could have battled Halle in Wrystone instead.
But as a whole, I think the most synergistic way to handle it would be to just forego having ever fought a leader at all. You got your Larvesta outside the League, so there's no real need to have gotten your Chimchar from the League.
Basically, I don't want to force you to do anything in particular, but you'll have to change the whole beating Zayir and getting a Chichar part. Other than that, it looks really good!
Ah, must have missed that bit of fluff. Ya included the part about Zayir last minute while reading through the wiki to match the world's requirments, so easy fix. Thanks!

That is a pretty nifty character concept, I like the second one better. (more potential conflict that way, methinks.)
I am no authority, but based on what I think the book said, it is more or less full body armor, which should include a helmet. If that doesn't hide your identity, then it could presumably be modified to do so. As I said, though, I am no authority, so it is ultimately HZ's call.
I approve of any and all plans regarding fun (preferably FUN) for the other group. I think it will be cool, having a world with two separate groups of PCs running around. Heck, I could see somebody pitching a game on that point alone.

Just to clarify, we're not actually a group. The only two who have met are Kanto's character and Arc's character. Personally I'm hoping never to meet Pitch let alone team up with him.

Eh, my bad. The other assortment of PC's who inhabit the same worldspace and are run by the same GM.
Better?

The thought of running into Pitch Stevens IC fills me with dread...the scary thing is you wouldn't even know to be afraid. He's much more evil than most of the villain characters submitted for team Ostra.
He'd, kill us, turn everyone against us, and feed us to our own Pokemon, (and if we're lucky - in that order).

Aw, thanks! I appreciate your appreciation for Pitch's insanity!

I kinda feel like I could take him... it wouldn't be a direct confrontation at first but for some reason I feel like I could do it. And if things started going sour I could always use plan B and hastily teleport away.

It's not the fighting you need to be worried about. Its what his character does to you while fighting. You can optimize all you want. Prep your build and team to specifically counter his. He will still win, in some fashion. If he successfully scares you, OOC or IC (and he will), he wins. Even if he dies, he still wins.
I suppose that's why I made Teleport EoT. since it lets things move 1d10+10 meters and allows to auto dodge like Protect and Detect. this may be a stupid question but lets say that a Pokemon with Fly is flying X numbers of meters above the ground. Could you teleport up to that Pokemon, or vehicle and board it.

Currently building the character from the very start, but I just realized I am a level away from Spec Ops. Would you mind if I bought the armor anyway, and just said it was getting the finishing touches and would be shipped shortly?

Sure, the armor can conceal your identity. Let's make a black market set of Spec Ops armor cost twice as much, though. All in all, sounds like a fun concept!

I'd say hold off on Tutor Moves at the start for simplicity's sake. No limit on TMs though besides your bankroll.

You see, you might beat Pitch but you will never win. Let's say, hypothetically, you somehow manage to start to gain the upper hand against Pitch. He's losing. He will cut and run faster than you can go "Oh ****." You could think he has no chance of escape; you could think him in a corner with no way of escape. He will find a way; if he has to lose an arm to get out, he will. He'll be angry; you defeated him, embarrassed him.
In the weeks to follow you will constantly see him out of the corner of your eye, only to find he is not that as soon as you turn for a closer look. He'll be a shade, a wraith, always just eluding you. You will hunt for him with an insane passion, trying to find and end him. Things you worked for will disappear; perhaps you can't find your Badges, or your gear. Maybe even one of your prized Pokemon will go missing.
Then the accidents will happen. People close to you. Friends, family, Pokemon; Pitch isn't picky. They may end up suffering heart attacks. They may go missing. They may wind up horribly mutilated on the street; who knows? This will only feed your desire to hunt Pitch. You will grow reckless, hasty. You will make bad choices. You will fall into a trap of Pitch's making, one with no escape. Then, and only then, with everything gone, everything missing, Pitch will crush you and your team. Beaten, alone, helpless, then Pitch will kill you. Slowly. Intimately. And he will enjoy it, don't doubt it.
And he will wait. It could take months for his plans to come to fruition, but it would be worth it. There is no "victory" against Pitch, only survival.

And ^that is why I'm scared out of my wits of Pitch. Seriously. Scary. Dude. He's not even real and I'm scared of him. I watch phantom of the opera and think of pitch. I listen to Dante's Inferno and think of Pitch. Pitch is the very essence of my nightmares. Scary as hell, and he's already hunting Ostra.
