No custom user titles, reason for the curious?

I was just wondering about why we can't have custom user titles. I'm just curious is all. Does it put stress on the server or something?

I'm pretty sure it's the same reason we aren't allowed to discuss the current titles- it'd provoke people to look down on others, or something.

Sheriff: First, the current titles were chosen to add some thematically appropriate elements. Second, as noted above, we want them to be just that, local color, and not used as a measure of anything. Third, custom titles would be one more thing the mods would need to deal with and we don't need any more on their plates. Probably other reasons, too.
