Tuchon has the typical build of a grey elf, thin and wiry. His hair is significantly darker than his cousins which makes his golden eyes stand out even more. He dresses conservatively rather than with the flamboyance of his kin and is standoffish in general.
Personality
Spoiler
Tuchon prefers his own company or the company of books. When not in his modest library at home he can be found in the woods, sitting in a branch of a tall tree, reading.
Tuchon Ninaelchanar does not like crowds and prefers to keep his distance both literally and figuratively. He takes a long time to get to know people and longer to trust them.
Background
Spoiler
Tuchon Ninaelchanar studied magic under the tutelage of Darshee Kayeeda, Daula of Chennai. She had taken a number of students, mainly grey elves like Tuchon but also high elves and gnomes and one human, known only as Rook. Rook took to the study of magic as a fish takes to water. Tuchon had been studying the magical arts for 12 years when Rook arrived and within a year the human had already surpassed him. Redoubling his efforts he immersed himself in theory but barely kept up. He decided that if he could choose to specialise as many of the gnomes had or embrace a broader understanding of magic. He chose the latter approach but concentrated on his strength which was long distance, targeted ray spells.
Eventually he came to an understanding with Rook and an appreciation of the strengths of other races. No doubt the mixed group of students was responsible and no doubt Daula Kayeeda intended this. Rook made a gift of a headband of intellect to Tuchon when they graduated and Tuchon shared his most powerful spell, Dispel Magic.
After leaving Chennai, Tuchon returned home to Chanar where he spent a year with his family catching up with the news of their lives. His brother, Nestra, had fathered a child with a human woman but had left their nation before the child was two years old. "They change so quickly", he would say but seemed to have little interest in seeing how they changed. Tuchon decided to call upon his nephew after the traditional year of remembrance that marks a long absence but was delayed when goblins were harassing the Eleven Woods and he lent his skills to their defence.
It was only 20 more years before he took the journey to visit Harlin Q'Nestra. He found a man grown to maturity, obsessed with chivalry and honour but nonetheless curious as to his elven heritage. He decided to take the young man with him to visit his cousins both to get to know him better and to impart what it means to be an elf on the warrior.
So lets talk some strategy. What are things that we will need to get before we go? My character will pay for his share. I will also grab the cart, we can use my survival pouch for mules so we dont burden the town too much.
Also, when we get to the edge of where nobody has gone before, I can cast fly, and send the person with the best search/spot combo (probably Warren) up to kind of scout ahead.
Things I want to get: A masterwork book for knowledge: geography, ten map cases, ten jars, several quills and bottles of ink, and as fancy a book with nothing written in the pages as I can find. I'm assuming the woman we are talking to can direct me where to go for these, but here is my Diplomacy roll with people I am buying from for the prices they would like, and will RP for some circumstance bonus for being an affable cleric from a friendly, well-liked god.
Diplomacy (1d20+2)[14]

and food and cooking gear. might as well stock up on decent food so we dont have to rely on crappy rations, we can hunt for meat, and I forgot that you cant get the cooking/eating gear out of the survival pouch with the campfire

Almost all of my spells are combat related. When we get a break and some cash together we might want to swap spells and make some utility scrolls or items. I can make whoever does the flying scouting invisible for a little while.

oh yeah secondary benefit of staying in town overnight is that we can swap a couple spells.

So me and Tuchon are going to the historian, we need to ask him for a book on the geography, books on the naga's, information he can give orally that we can write down, I need an empty book, and the suchlike.
So what questions do we ask about the Naga? What they might be weak to, general organization, habits, traits, language?

I'd be interested in their capabilities, what spells can they cast, what are they resistant to, what are their typical tactics, how tough are they, what are their weaknesses, etc.
The sort of thing that a knowledge (arcana) check might reveal about a magical creature...with a circumstance bonus from having an expert on their history and books on the subject nearby.
Wow I totally missed this too...a little belated, but color Harlin Dark Orchid

BTW the food that we are getting is more than for eating. I feel like if we cook good smelling food while we are out there, we might be able to set a trap for intelligent life that might know something out there.
In this hypothetical, I would have the three of you guys hidden around the fire as I cook (more likely that intelligent life would approach a cleric of a friendly god amicably) and if they are a threat, you guys would pop out to surround him/them.

ok so we need to start preparing for poisons, if we have time to get antitoxins and the suchlike we should pick up a few of those, but just in case I am going to also going to ask about herbs and stuff that we might be able to find and we can try to make antitoxins.
also, do we want to wait to be able to prepare new spells before we set out?

It should be at least a day before we get there, right? So there should be plenty of time to refine spell selections.
EDIT: also sorry for not being more involved...but being LG means being out of the way sometimes I think, lol...and I wouldn't have a whole lot to contribute to the info-gatherin'

No worries, I think I have everything I need, just need a total of what I need to pay for the stuff I asked for and we should be on our way.

Ok, so now that we have taken on the girl, lets talk about new tactics? It seems like Harlin can lead teh charge, Warren and Brillon would make for good flanking buddies, and Tuchon will be able to do some battlefield control and ranged attacks?
The girl would best stay in the back with Tuchon, maybe we should get her a bow before we go too, just in case.

When we left the inn, Tuchon send Uohcut out to fly over the road to see if it was clear. Is he able to tell me what he saw or did he get distracted? He's got an intelligence of 8 which is as high as Harlin's.
Also are we going to send a scout out ahead of us or stay in the safety of a group?
Hey hey hey just because Harlin hasn't learned any tricks yet is no reason to set the bird above him!

Well, we have a rogue, but for now I think that having the raven keep lookout might serve us best. Better to have them ambush the party than ambush the scout

agreed, having a flying scout seems like it would have the best chance of spotting anything, and I'll drive the cart and keep my eyes on the road and surroundings to see if anything is coming at us. the bird is probably not suspicious to casual observers as well.

I'm Chaotic Evil so I don't fit well in the heavily monitored Lawful Good site. Even more so one filled with cry babies that ''run to mommy moderators'' all day long. Really, anything I say in a post is 'wrong' to them.
We will have to see what the Pink and Fuzzy Bunnies(awesome 80's movie reference) decide in there blatantly unfair and good determination.
so our DM got banned, I sent her an email (using the email she provided for this site) seeing if she wanted to move the game to a new page. if she doesnt respond in the next week or so, we will start looking for a new DM

I have a guy looking at the IC thread and seeing if he wants to take over as our DM. If he joins in we may continue with this game, or go on a new adventure, depending on how it all feels. So reply in this thread or PM me to make sure you guys are in on this.
