Bwahahaha! Always a step ahead. Good work, Luff! I'll write a quick post in the IC before physics class starts to summon Luff up so that it doesn't feel contrived that he arrives on the bridge.
What post is he? I figured Master-at-Arms, but it's important to know for certain. If any -- you could always choose to not have him have a rank.

Just as planned.
Master-at-Arms is good. Though he prefers to be called "Enforcer Budregard" or just "sir" (by his subordinates), partially out of respect for family tradition, and partially because he believes the title deserves a lot more respect than it usually gets. He hopes that when he finally does achieve heroic status, people will think more of Enforcers everywhere, like his old comrades-in-arms and his family.

Then it was serendipity that she addressed him as Enforcer Budregard!
EDIT: Forgive my lateness in the reply. I figure it would be best to not try and partition her responses through time, if only for the sake of brevity.
I imagine her speaking with a Hungarian or Lithuanian accent. Something vaguely Eastern European. But then, I often imagine the voices of the face I steal for the characters I wrote for. again!

I imagine Luff deliberately speaking in a deep and impressive voice that is somewhat more baritone than it would naturally be, with no notable accent. I like to think he visited a speech coach or something similar to learn how to make his voice sound more heroic.

As per a request from our Lady Trader I am rolling up a sheet to fill the final slot in the crew. After some additional thinking I decided on the path of Voidmaster instead of Seneschal, I doubt the Lady needs anyone else to handle trading for her.

Master of Augurs Can re-roll all failed tested involving detection on a starship.
Background:
Microscopic specks of debris from the nearby asteroid field were carried on the solar wind and brushed like a warm breeze against the void shields, flaring into tiny flashes of light as the energy consumed them. The Razor of Occiam herself was merely a grain of sand in the vastness of space as she continued her patrol, the powerful augurs of the ship channeled to the man strapped into the scan station of her warbridge. The voices of the crew were like a drone in his ears as he listened to the song of the sun and the stars, floating in the void. A discordant jarring entered into the symphony and his attention narrowed, focusing on a particular irregular lump of debris in the outskirts of the asteroid belt. He cycled through various spectra and wavelengths, trying to pinpoint what made this particular rock stand out. The thermal scan revealed a bloom of heat against the cold background: whatever that rock actually was, it was powered by a primitive reactor. Similar in design to two other vessels that had been destroyed during the patrol it took only moments to identify the readings. With a target identified he forced his physical fingers move, initializing the rites of transferring the data to the gunnery station.
Opening his eyes to the dull palette of colors on the bridge, Victris cleared his throat. Captain, the augurs have picked up a primitive Ork vessel in the outskirts of the asteroid belt. It will be in range of the Hydra battery in approximately ten minutes. His discovery reported, he sank back down into communion with the machine spirit of the augurs and together they watched the macrocannons cycle up and fire on the primitive target, blasting its vile xeno crew into the void.
Edit: Fourth edition, basic sheet is done, still working on background.
Victris will remain on board the ship unless called down by his Captain, I'll write a proper post when I am working with more than half-brain capacity.
So if we do win the acquisition check for the new components, they would take 2 weeks to install. With the message, I'm not sure if that's viable. Maugan Ra, is it impossible without screwing the plot hook?
If not, I suppose I'll go with some of the little Crew Upgrades.

Sure. I hardly expect a Rogue Trader to go about without assorted flunkies and minions.
Anyway, welcome to Footfall. It is, basically, Mos Eisley in space. You can get just about anything here, if you know who to talk to. And can quite easily end up dead if you talk to the wrong people.

Obligatory Star Wars reference out of the way, very cool. I do have a question about Winthrow's character, though -- with Child of Dynasty, we would have three more ship-points to work with, right? So that should allow us to take another component in the ship-building process. If that's the case, could I perform some quick edits and a Jedi Mind Trick (blast, another Star Wars reference!) to dismiss the claim that Taz was ever searching for, say, a barracks?

++Retains most of his analytical ability. Has some ingrained paranoia and small signs of trauma pertaining to his dark origins. Loyalty not to be questioned. Sanctioning have righted all the wrongs inside the subject's head. Surely, the Emperor's Light is a powerful thing that can convince any man of His might.
Character only sustain personal relationships with other Astropaths, taking care of the insane and disabled. Shows only reverence to His word and the High Lords of Holy Terra unquestionable authority. Docile when admonished, explosive when confronted by His enemies. Full extent of mental imprint impossible to map, to be watched closely at all times. Preferably, to be kept under Harness and Leash when possible.
They stalk the void between stars with ears immaterial, listening and decoding all messages they can get a hold of. Not all of the messages, for they would burn out too quickly. Astropaths can be just like candles, they burn out, most of the times so literally it becomes ironic. A man has to be of the utmost mental hardness and endurance to truly care for accursed beings such as these. Or someone so far worse that he was deeper them all of them, into an ever-burning pit of insanity, cringing and smiling like a sick joke that never tires of being told.++

The Lockbourne Facility was accused of heretek practices and purged by the red-cowls of the AdMech. Prior to full extermination, sterilization and full recycling the Cog Priests found many interesting experiments and technologies within the facility. Lord Inquisitor Imperiom quickly stepped in and vouched the AdMech irresponsible and incapable of dealing with the matters at hand, taking full control in the Inquisition's name. What was made off of it is unknown even inside his own Ordo. Edward Blackthrone was filled within the League of Blackships the following days.
Inside the Scholastia Psykana he fared beautifully. During his sanctioning he cried tears of blood, but was otherwise unscathed. Considered too powerful, too abnormal and too sane to be sacrificed to the Emperor's Light, he was held into the Scholastia Psykana for further training and indoctrination. Outside, Edward was given a few roles as Astropath for many Imperial Ships, specially Blackships where the Inquisition could keep a close eye on this abnormal specimen. Under the graces of an anonymous donor from the Holy Inquisition Edward was released under the rule of Leashed and Harnessed, that only his responsible could command the powers and whereabouts of Psyker Edward Black. He seemed overjoyed.
A few years passed since and Edward didn't have to go far to stumble into trouble. Someone among the criminals of the Koronus Expanse seems to want him dead and have been putting something together that only Blackthrone and the Inquisition is aware of, and even then only mildly. Sometimes you can find him listening to the astral whispers of the void, tilting his head and grinning mischievously.
++Second Records++
After his last overseer died in a terrible accident involving Ork raids in the sector, Edward was relocated to the Ministorum. There he served no one for a long time and was left to the Crows. It was over a month after Blackthrone was again released in the care of another captain. Lady Anatazya Xanatov proved to be a beautiful and merciful mistress much for Blackthrone's pleasure. Her messages are some of the few he enjoys wholeheartedly to scream into the void between stars. Her company is such a pleasure that Ed Black wishes to partake in it whenever possible, making the Astropath eager to relay any message personally and to offer escort for planetside excursions, something he never really liked to do.

While not quite as good, I've linked your sheet to mine, so that you can easily navigate to it from page 1.
Also, did you spend 700 experience? I've never made an astropath so I'm unsure how their class works. It's quite possible you get two psychic powers for free -- I'm woefully ignorant of how psychic powers work!
You had mentioned in the recruitment thread something to cackle over, but never got back to me on that. Could I get that PM?

Thank you so very much. Also, no, I get two powers for free, and two powers from Proven to be Pure, which is the same as buying Psychic Techniques twice. However, many errata have been made and remade on the subject, so it's mostly Maugan Ra's decision. This way was how my last psyker was built.

Right, lingering questions:
- Speeding up the installation of ship components doesn't worry me too much. We can retroactively assume that the Castle has been in port for a little while if necessary.
- I have no problems with adding a Barracks to your ship with those extra SP. You won't have soldiers to occupy them yet, but one thing at a time.
- I'll have a look through different errata later, but I don't presently see a problem with the Astropath's build and powers. I might regret saying that later, of course.

So if we retroactively have a barracks, our men-at-arms can't become armed-men or something of the sort?
I'll go ahead and edit in the barracks, however.
I'll reiterate some of the other questions just to have them condensed here -- they pertain to the immediate activities of the group, which is why I'm trying to apply the brakes to the IC thread until they get answered. Forgive me for my caution!
How many acquisitions can each person make, or is it 'use your discretion, and fear the Into the Storm rules!'?
Are there stats for men at arms?
New Question: What's the modifier to try and find a mercenary group? I can't understand the acquisition rules for obtaining men properly, much to my eternal dismay.
I believe that's it at the moment.

Caution is fine. Better to have it worked out in advance, than run headlong into problems later. Right...
You may make as many acquisitions as you like. Into the Storm rules will only come into effect if I have reason to believe you're moving enough money to theoretically run into financial problems (even if its only temporary).
There are no distinct stats for your men at arms. They're not even soldiers, really. They're members of your crew who have a bit of weapons training in addition to their other duties, mostly for the sake of boarding actions and policing the rest of the crew.
Finding a mercenary group... Hmm. Check Battlefleet Koronus, which has rules for all the acquisition modifiers. Specifically, their level of equipment and training, their personal quality (from conscripts right up to veteran Stormtroopers) and what type of force they are. Beyond that, use the standard scale modifiers to acquisition tests noted in the main rule book.
So, if you wanted, say, a platoon (about thirty men) of professional light infantry, equipped to the Imperial standard (so, Guardsman level), you'd be looking at a total of a +10 modifier on your profit factor roll. They'd come with all their gear and training as well. This is, of course, before using Commerce and the like.
Footfall is also a good place to pick up mercenaries, since it's such a busy frontier zone. Apply an additional +10 to all such tests while you're here.

I tried to construct a 5,000 man army but got muddled with the difference between Power and Strength. Am I selecting a Unit Size (i.e. the number of people) in lieu of my 'how many items are you getting' modifier? I figured using a mercenary broker would be easier than trying to construct one myself.
Can you give a warning before the Into the Storm rules get put into effet? Like "if you keep buying those gold-laced babies to chuck into the black hole in a vain attempt to clog it, you may find yourself in dire financial straits!" or something?
I shall post in the IC thread now. I hope you have some component merchants' stats ready!

Finding a broker would be a good start, yes. Probably enough for some positive modifiers, if you handled the meeting well.
Power and Strength can mostly be ignored unless you're intending to fight full scale ground warfare. And yes, use the 'how many items' modifiers as a way to estimate how many soldiers you want.
Warnings will be given if I think you're over stretching yourself, yes. That said, a lot of minor things you won't even have to worry about, funding wise.

Would it be possible to find a better grade of power pack for power armor? One that lasts more than a mere handful of hours? If so, what would the modifier be?

I believe I responded in a PM to this, but in case I'm mistaken... Better quality power packs do exist, just not on the open market. You want long-term power armour, find a Tech-Priest with a forge and convince him to make you a set. With in-game RPing, not just a profit factor roll.
Otherwise, folks, roll away!

Sadly I can't just have a mass of rolls, since some of these are predicated upon the successes or failures of others. Thus, we'll start off with the calculance array! For the sake of brevity, should you just give me a Commerce check to roll against for the opponent? That way I can roll two die simultaneously and determine the DoS from there. It's entirely up to you -- these sorts of chain-rolls are so much easier in person!
Commerce Check for Calculance Array: (1d100)[5] v. 70
