Apologies for going quiet over the weekend, my ISP provider decided to cut me off without warning and it's been crazy overall, aiming to post sometime during the day.
Although most of the people I wanted to talk to are already busy/have left.
Excuse me, Ra, would you mind if I moved some points around between stats that haven't been used yet? Specifically, I wanted to move some points to strength and toughness (not from fellowship, obviously, as I used that).
Hmm. I'm honestly going to say no here - we're a few too many pages in for me to feel fine about editing sheets.

And here I am, back again from the land of no-internet and no-time. Well, at least i was doing something useful. I was DMing a game of Rogue Trader! Tradeception!
I will post some stuff now, only to not go too long without posting anything and to give the Ether Master something to do while the others go about their business, haha!
PS: Goddammit, Luc. You are forever going to be Lazy Tyke for me now.

It's easier than having two people in a game with the same avatar. I found myself wondering why I wrote something, only to realize it wasn't me at all. This way, there's less confusion.
Also, Lillian's hair is awesome.

Apologies for the mild delays, I've actually gone and got a job, and yesterday and today have been training days. Also, family coming up to visit later today, so I'll probably be a bit busy then as well.

Job? Family? What is this heresy?!

Hey, just wanted to say I'm still here. I'm having trouble thinking of anything useful to do, so I guess Sigma is just hanging around behind the Captain to make her retinue larger and more impressive.

At the moment, Taz is off alone. I thought Sigma was going to talk to the Techpriest? I think there's a techpriest, isn't there? He said he had to talk to the skitarii to get Luff a lascannon. Or maybe I'm misremembering...

Why would you want to marry and/or help the governor should he be deposed though? Wouldn't it benefit you more to either halt the coup before it begins (perhaps with a battlefield "accident") or be a genuine conspirator in it?

By agreeing to the conspiracy, we can get the General to trust us (although I believe Luff may be already doing that for us!) and thus continue to stifle the insurrection between the defense council. If we can depose the governor without having him dead, then we can reinstall him afterwards -- telling the Damarisians that it was just a wartime measure. As for why we'd want the Governor on instead of the General, it's a matter of will. An obscura-addled governor is probably more malleable than a general.
As for her being creepy, to each their own. But I'm wondering if Baveboi meant creepy instead of scary, or if he meant scary.

I'm just doing what he would do IC. He is, after all, a pragmatic, military man.
What would be the point in deposing and then reinstalling him though? Wouldn't it be better to either be the driving force that makes the coup possible (thus indebting the new ruler to her) or else swooping in at the last second to save the day (ideally timing it so she's the only thing keeping him in power and he knows it)?
Anywho, yeah, she is a bit creepy to me. Dunno about Baveboi.

Again, the general would probably be harder to control than the governor. Agreeing to the coup and then not performing it means we fracture our support once the situation gets underway, presuming there's ever any fighting on the ground (we may be able to stave them off in the skies, if we're lucky). Undoing the coup after the war saves the General's status during the aftermath, and the Governor knows why it is he's in power and not dead.

If this general really is stupid enough to stage a coup, and thus risk civil war, in the middle of an Ork invasion I'm probably going to shoot the idiot myself.
"Coups? Disgusting but hardly abnormal noble behavior. Risking the fall of one of the Emperor's worlds to xenos scum for personal power? Heretical."
Before of afterwords is fine, but trying to depose the leadership in the middle of a desperate battle for survival is just dumb.

I happen to be the most pragmatic of us all. I first saw Mistress Anatazia Serafina as some noblewoman with less than optimal ruthlessness and choler, even if her charismatic aura was suited to those of high command. I now see her ruthlessness... and I like it. Creepiness has no place in the field of war, be it politics or combat, everything is a battlefield to those who want to take everything.
However, I agree with Luff at one point. It makes for poor morale to remove such a high piece of the chessboard so early. Perhaps with the right strategy we can take this fat useless piece for ourselves without taking it from the table. Let's say, a decoy perhaps.
PS: I MIGHT or MIGHT NOT be sketching my own character right now. When I finish I will remember to gift everyone with something.

Don't misunderstand me - I have no problem deposing or manipulating this inbred toad at our convenience. What I do have a problem with is allowing something like that to happen mid-battle. This governor could not rule without the backing of powerful factions of his own - factions that stand to loose a great deal should he be deposed. They won't take it lying down. They'll fight back as best they are able. That potentially spells civil war. If it happens mid-invasion, then it might well lead to the planet's fall. If that happens, no profit and no glory.
Scheme and plot all you like before or after the war. But please, we need unity during the battle, or else.
Anyway, worst comes to worst he's already shown some inclination to accept Luff's advice on military matters - I might be able to talk him into waiting for a while.

I said I agreed to your point, you blockheaded ingrat.
It might, however, do us good to remove/nullify/abduct that fat fool while this goes on, I don't see how a man addled with Obscura CAN'T harm a battle against Orks. However, Luff is right once again. It might be best to consult with the factions that would support the lard-bucket. If they like that fat excuse for a planetary governor it is because they want from him the same we do; compliance. We can sell them that argument easily.
Of course, Carlyle can safely extract any memory that we might have use for, if it comes to supplanting the bulbous moron.
(I am running out of insults...)

I believe Henry was speaking to the hypothetical General, or anyone else who plotted a coup doing a battle -- i.e. me
The good Lady Xanatov is right, the mutant freak is wrong.
I just don't want us to lose because we set off a civil war. And no ruler can rule without at least some powerful factions willing to back him against rivals.

Then we'll have to see. It was the Governor who mentioned the coup, and who suggested following through with it. Whether or not he's trying to scam us is definitely a question to be asked -- and one that I've considered, don't worry -- but all I'm operating on is what has been provided in-character. There may be powerful groups in motion, or it may be the difficulty of overthrowing a hereditary prince, as Machiavelli mentions. Until we obtain more information, all we can do is make noncommittal statements and gather facts. Provide enough information that the other person feels like they've learned something worthwhile and interesting. Dialogue is give-and-take -- even if this contract is all take.

Well, let's win those factions over to us then. I can have all his memories, all his secrets, even the ones he doesn't know about. With all that information, Lady Anatazia can't surely lose a bargain over such good terms we have to offer.
Not only do we support the fatso (for our own gains, but so do they), he will now come with a party of highly trained experts that are here to protect the city as it stands, politically and physically.
Doesn't matter who is in power. What matters is if he is just, pure and powerful and in our case, she is.

I'm going to try and make friends with this general guy. Probably toss out some unflattering remarks about the governor. Perhaps we can discuss our strategy for sucking this planet dry after we know what everyone intends.

Yes, try and cut the angry power-armored man with a lot of guns and a preexisting desire to kill mutants. I'm sure that will turn out fabulously.

Why would we need to win them over if we plan on supporting him anyway?
Also, I don't think attempting to mindrape an Imperial governor is that wise.

Just wait until I can do that from orbit, you misguided tuna can.
Well, I don't see how hard can it be to extract info from that fool. He is Obscura addled for the Golden Throne's sake. I bet I could even do it without him noticing, if I could chant for a round.
And I think the idea is not to be beside him, but on top of him, on the hierarchy of this backwater mudball.

A very, very wealthy mudball, if memory serves. I don't think we've been told in what capacity they're rich, but we've got a near-monopoly on it -- the other half is held by our darling Elizabeth Orleans.
Who, if I recall, drives a 'highly modified raiding ship.' We'll just have to have her come with us on a trip to investigate the outer rim. I believe astropaths can block astropathic communication, can't they?

Slight problem - I'm the guy commanding the ships's guns. You're just the defective walkie talkie.
The info isn't so much the problem as the evidence that we did it. If we were caught or discovered we could trigger a dangerous backlash.
Yes, but I thought the idea was to leave him in nominal power. If we remove his backing, then he won't be there to be a good little puppet for long.

Since you're apparently to be the overall commander, might I suggest placing her ship between us and the Warboss? He should krump her, and with any luck she'll bring the shields down. Then we can cripple the boat and get on the bridge.
