I'm easy when it comes to which plan to go with, just need to make a decision on which one it will be is all. That is why I haven't replied yet as I'm waiting on a few of you to confirm exactly what is happening. I'd like to get to the fighting as much as anyone else but if we can't make a simple decision here then things are going to drag on in the future.

I on the other hand am waiting to see if Harthar wants this RPed again, if I should just roll some new rolls or if the previous Diplomacy rolls cover it. That is what I asked back then. I would have assumed that it would be off stage, but I thought I should ask.

Also Dern went to ask the question. Do you need some new rolls? Would you rather I RPed the interaction more thoroughly?

OK I am confused. Which plan did we agree to after all? And did we agree to take on a bandit or not?

How will knowing the whistle will help us, if we suddenly are amidst the bandits? I mean, what is the difference if i) we whistle, get in the middle of them and start bashing heads ii) just charge and bash heads? The proximity?

Just asking, I am fine with either. But we should agree that during the trip we have formulated a more exact plan.

Agreed, that is why it was left so open and we havent encountered the bandits yet. We were all agreed on making the choice on the journey and it is doubtful that your all going to want to go in blind, hence why someone should go forward to investigate.

Then Dern proposed that the more musically inclined among us learn the call (perhaps himself, as his Cha is high enough and Perform is Cha based and doable untarined. If needed Perform (1d20+3)[20]). Then, we take the wagon, the more stealthy of us take position to rain sniper fire and the rest approach with the cart the camp. We stay out of the light, proceed with the cart in and then engage them at point blanck. Vasili and Winter stay in the cart, Dhevanu snipers, me and Walters take them on and Gedriwyn crashes in mounted. The other party members position themselves wherever they think they can do the most good, on the cart, in the shadows or elsewhere,

How does that sound?

Sounds good to me. On the way, Vasili has given everyone descriptions of his father, and expresses a desire that he be released as swiftly as possible - or made unconscious rather than killed if he takes up arms against the companions.

Dhovanu could scout up and look for Vasili's father. If he's Kessel's slave then he's probably in Kessel's tent, which would likely be the biggest one if she's the leader.

Opening with a barrage of alchemists fire on sleeping bandits in tents would be both effective and cinematic, but could Dern allow that to happen? Walter and Walker both have reach weapons so a defensive position where we could draw their attention while Dhovanu, Vasili, and maybe even Ged take out any lone archers would be good.

Taking out the sentries would be a good idea: concentrated fire from three bow-users (Dhov, Ged and Vasili) should be enough to knock out a guard per round. How silently that happens... well, that's another thing entirely.

And yes, until **** hits the fan, Vasili is firing with a bow. Once he shoots with the pistol, everyone will know something's up.

Unless the DM has other opinions, Dern as a paladin will not impose his beliefs in others. He will not abide by obviously evil acts, but he will not accept his standards to be everyone's standards. He is the mortal sword of Gods, not the judge, jury or proselytizer. This is why Detect Evil exists, to see what the judgement is.

In any case, I don't see why using the element of surprise is dishonorable. Dern will also not say he is a bandit, but he will wear a cloak to hide his armor. So we can go for it. But we must be sure whose tent is what, because we wouldn't want Vasili's father burned.

If we get Dern within 60ft of the tents he can tell whether the occupants are evil or not. Shouldn't be too hard to find two tents that detect as evil and use the alchemists fire on those. Getting the archers out of the watchtowers won't be easy, but if we can clear a watchtower it would be an ideal spot for our ranged combatants.

Again, ready when you are... Stealth is not Vasili's strong suit, mind you, so might as well get this party started.

I am sick and exhausted today, but Dhovanu is pretty much okay with any plan that involves sneaking and ambushing with arrows.

She'll follow orders willingly in this regard.

Added: Stealth is her strong suit, if you want her to take point that's A-okay with me.

@Angstrom: The tents that detect evil more would perhaps be Kassel and Harps, and this is where Vasili's father is more likely to be, is it not?

So the plan,as I can see it is the following:

Dhovanu approaches hidden to somewhere she had a clear shot at both the guardians and the camp. The rest, even Gedriwyn mounted, we approach the camp with our cloaks covering us and Dern makes the whistle. When we get close enough to engage, Dhovanu fires at the one archer, Vasili springs and takes the other, Gedriwyn , Dern and Walters take on those standing and Winter and Walker stand in the cart laying general mayhem. Ideally, Winter can also help disable one of the archers.

When Kassel appears, Dern and someone else double tag her. Also, Dhovanu has an eye open for the patrol, which could be somewhat close and come back running. We must also take note to keep either Happs or Kassell alive, because they are the only ones that know where the Stag Lord's camp is.

If we agree on that, the following happen:
1) Dhovanu leaves alone. We give her ten seconds.
2) We guide the cart nearby and Dern whistles. If we get challenged, someone will shout we are just tired and cannot wait.
3) Dhovanu snipes the first archer and melee mayhem ensures.

I am waiting for the rest of the team to agree with the plan, before Dern starts taking actions. So far, North Ranger agrees and Dhovanu agrees by default, if nothing else does not come up. That leaves Walker, Walters, Winter and Gedriwyn.

I also had missed that the bandit was with us. If so, he can make the whistle instead of Dern and perhaps we should keep him in the cart, hands and feet tied, but with orders to stay down.

Walker's only suggestiong would be that Dhovanu should take a look first to report back to us what's going on in the camp and where she will be sniping from. Really though, he's not about to tell soldiers how to do their job.

So we are agreed then. The plan has evolved to the following:

1)Dhovanu goes for a look and comes back to report, no engagement.
2) Dhovanu leaves and gets to a sniping position
3) We get close and the bandit gives the whistle-signal
4) We approach as close as we can (the mounted knight included) and engage them as following:
a) Dern and Walters get up close and personal, trying to reach Kassel
b) Gedriwyn crashes in mounted and gives them hell
c) Winter, Vasili and Walker stay in the cart and do their thing. Dhovanu and Vasili especially try to take the archers out.
d) WIN
