Re: GITP Fantasy Blood Bowl Cup - Season II [Team Management]
@docnessuno: May I? I looked at your rooster... Blitzers with a skill cost more ;) they are worthy +20,000
My two cents for the AI behaviour: according to my experience with Skaven, it seems that the AI is taking in serious accont the Star Players. I mean, I managed to win vs Sabres - while last season I lost one of my Gonzalo's vs the Dark Elves... the only time I didn't hire a SP.
Also someone should explain me why AI, after giving the ball to a Thrower, does not make him a pass to a cather

History
Spoiler
The underdogs of this season, the Iron Giants have no professional experience whatsoever.
They started in a small and obscure town as a Blood Bowl club. From a fan club, it slowly transformed into an amateur Blood Bowl team, complete with a grizzled coach, John Smith.
Slowly but surely, they rose through the ranks, easily dominating the amateur scene in their district.
Then one of the players had a bright idea, "Why not try for the cup?" Everyone jumped on the bandwagon to much protestation from John Smith.
So here they stand, ready to take part in the first game of the season.

It's probably the old high-percentage actions thing again. At a normal range you've only got a 50% chance of throwing the ball successfully and a 50% chance of receiving it... although you can re-roll both. Still it seems the AI would rather move the ball along the ground as it's "less risky" - most of the top players in YR are throwers. (Of course, against some teams, moving the ball on the ground is more risky, because the carrier gets taken out trying to cross the line of scrimmage, whereas the pass won't be intercepted and the catcher can outrun the defence)
Even with my guys, where for my thrower to pass to Morr E.N. Tezz and they both have a +1 to the roll and a re-roll, it still averages less than one pass per game. But some teams seem to be able to pass the ball more freely - the Wood Elves in particular.

Amazon players are all good runners because they have dodge and a decent speed. If you want the AI to pass more the try giving a thrower a passing skill. Last season after getting safe throw Hands made about 1 successful touchdown pass a match.

Re: GITP Fantasy Blood Bowl Cup - Season II [Team Management]
A real portion of the passing problem is that, in tabletop, you'd likely want to start the turn with the ball in the hands of not-the-passer, who runs to mid-field where the passer is and hands off to him. This lets the passer himself run a bit of the way down the field, making the pass to the catcher shorter. I'm guessing that -us- getting the AI to do that is less than likely.
And don't worry about mucking around with the Elf AI, Crow. I'll just shove this mess through this season and make an Ork team next one.

Re: GITP Fantasy Blood Bowl Cup - Season II [Team Management]
I think the reason my team is acting so bashy works on similar logic, since the fact most my team has regen means that even with horrible rolling, they have a 50% chance of simply having to sit out for a little. And since I have some reserves, even this isn't all that bad a result. This is especially true for the werewolves, who's claws skill means that eventually they will do some serious harm, and their frenzy means that if they try it once, they'll keep trying (eventually making it statistically guaranteed they hurt someone bad). However, given the ball-handling logic, this would then mean that the expected behavior would be to give the ball to one of the wolves (high movement speed), and then simply have everyone else try and smash until something interesting happens. Given the amount of deaths and injuries occurring, and who's scoring, that's pretty much exactly what I think is happening.Although, I know more about computer logic than Blood Bowl, so I'm not sure how unusual all these deaths/injuries even are.
Anyway, on to updating my roster (may need someone more experienced to double check some of the things about my values)

Now that your werewolves have skill-ups they're more valuable. Lupus has a double-only skill so that's +30K (150K total) and Lycan will get a normal skill so +20K (140K total). However your total TV looks to be accurate, which is what counts (although it will go up when Lycan gets his new skill).
Re: GITP Fantasy Blood Bowl Cup - Season II [Team Management]
Well at least we made it out of there without any more deaths. We will go ahead and use our winnings to purchase Sigurðrfrear since it seems he got our MVP roll.
Re: GITP Fantasy Blood Bowl Cup - Season II [Team Management]
Two out of three games the Plague has played were against Elves; virtually all of them have an AV of 7; all Claws does is let you penetrate as though the enemy had an AV of 7. So, for the majority of their games thus played, Claw has done nothing whatsoever. Despite this, they're getting savaged than average CAS.

So, up against the might of Rampage! this week, back at full strength again. I know they're on a poor streak, but I don't like the look of those werewolves. Or those blitzers. Or the size of their inducement cheque.

Re: GITP Fantasy Blood Bowl Cup - Season II [Team Management]
Nothing with inducement money for the heroes. With my game plan points I'll give Orgetorix sure hands and an extra arm. Andecembogius and Vercingetorix get claws.
Re: GITP Fantasy Blood Bowl Cup - Season II [Team Management]
Ok I'll hire again Helmut @82,500 (110,000-25%) and I'll hire the wizard in order to give +1 AG and Safe Throw to Göndul (#5) (I'll get the remaining 22,500 from treasure).
Gameplan points: Guard to Skögul (#2) and Hildr (#4).
Hlökk and Reginleif (#9 and #12) will start the first kickoff as backups.
