Mycah wanted one dagger anyway, but the others are up for grabs. So, Nathros gets one. Any requests for the other?
I'll update my personal sheet with Mycah's share of the coin, one dagger for now, and the holy water - though I'm not sure how I got those.
I'm pretty sure Roland already accounted for this stuff in the XP he awarded.

Okay, Mycah 1 dagger, Nathros 1 dagger, I guess Ash could use one for - as you said - a back up weapon.
(Say my sword is lost or taken and my bow and spear too. Say I have to go under cover again as someone less intimidating than a warrior fully clad in armor. Heh, yeah... that's uncomfortable being so vulnerable.)
I'm going to update my character sheet for Ash's stuff right away, so you can remove those things from the group loot, Tsunami. Thanks. ^_^
EDIT: Oh, I guess if Artanis wants a holy water, that'd be fine. I forget why I didn't have him have one in the first place. He could have one of Mycah's. That's up to you guys.
Sounds fine to me. I'll keep Mycah's sheet as one dagger, and just one holy water, giving one to Artanis.
Now the big question - are all the daggers the same? Just simple +1, or anything more interesting? Would we even know before we use them?

OOC: They are all the same. They are +1 daggers of particularly fine and ancient design. IC: You'll know they're magical when you wield it in actual or practice combat. They don't glow or do anything obviously magical, but they have a way about them apparent to the user.
Both IC and OOC: Whether they have any greater or secret powers unknown are, well, unknown. But that kind of thing is certainly possible.

For what it's worth, this is how I do it in games I run, too. After using it in combat, you'd know it's magical (by it's perfect balance, keen edge, etc.) and I'd tell the players the plus value. Any extra abilities - flame brand, extra + vs. something - would require specific identification (sage, spell, etc) or use vs the target creatures.

P.S. is there XP that is rewarded from something other than combat or gold accumulation? It just occured to me since I've seen it happen in some of my 3.5 games.

How easy or intuitive is it for someone untrained to steer a riverboat like the one we are planning to capture from the Fangs?
Can we do it ourselves or is it better to hire a riverboat sailor to do it for us, once all the Fangs are dead or tied up?
Difficult. One would need to know not only how to steer but how to apply the sails or paddle/pole the ship along. Going downriver would be easier than upriver, especially if you didn't care about the pace. You could strike the sails and drift downriver. But applying the sails to go faster or upriver (or paddling/poling) against the current would be more challenging.
Smaller boats you might use to get from shore to the River Rose would require much less skill.

Possibly roleplaying, overcoming non-creature challenges, and story awards. To date, I have rolled those into to the killing stuff XP and given you a single number.

I think we're on a couple different wavelengths here. We don't need more than a couple of rowboats to get out to a ship moored offshore in the river. And once we're defeated the Fangs, we're turning it over to the guild, so we wouldn't need to try and sail it anyway. Or is Brandon hatching some plan to keep it for ourselves and not honor the bargain?

Cancel the hiring sailors part. I didn't see that the bartender had said that the Guild would have watchers ready to take custody of the River Rose once the Fangs are defeated.
Presumably some among the Guild would be able to handle the boat.
Ha ha ha!
I never thought I'd be so happy to see a 1 being rolled.
Although I've heard of a few groups making ones some sort of random event:
Like a dagger throw misses the witch, but severs the rope holding the chandelier above her head. WHAM! instant headache.

The midday patrons seem to be sailors, stevedores, and others concerned with their jobs, coworkers, and the petty indignities of life. The barkeep seems pleased that the group is on the case. He's hopeful they'll succeed but uncertain. There is nothing in his thoughts to indicate that he is in league with the Fangs or has any intentions toward the party other than making sure they keep their bargain. He does have lookouts watching the boat so that they can swoop in when the job is done.

If your character has some experience swimming, they can probably swim short distances while unencumbered. If not, you'll struggle and checks may have to be made.

Rules Cyclopedia, page 89 says "All characters may swim unless the DM says otherwise" - but from your post above, should we take it that you are leaving it up to us to decide whether swimming is something our characters have experience in?

Exactly right.

Bit early, but Happy Thanksgiving to our US contingent!
I imagine this means it'll be fairly quiet for the coming weekend, right? Family stuff and travels get in the way... So I'll get this in before you all vanish.

If you will be away for a certain period of time, please let me know in a spoiler in your last IC post before leaving. I'll make DM actions for your character or hit pause until Monday, if it seems like most people will be away.
Also, happy Thanksgiving to those who are celebrating.

Happy Thanksgiving to those celebrating. ^_^
Canada did ours already, so it's just another ordinary weekend for me. Might go out for dinner tonight with my husband though. :D
I'm really excited about what's to come during our River Rose encounter. I love swashbuckler/pirate stories in a setting. I don't know why, I just do.
As far as I know, I'll be staying home for the holiday. We've only got two days of school next week!
@Nevaera: I'm excited for the adventure to come as well. ^.^
I'm home from work Thursday and Friday, but should have time to get online and keep actively posting, albeit slower than normal. No travel this year.
