ah we're doing this classic ironman style then. well if we want to waste time with those stats I'm going to need to know what the entrance modifiers for the different careers are. if we don't want to waste time with them then then here we go again hopefully it doesn't take 3 tries. (2d6) (2d6) (2d6) (2d6) (2d6) (2d6)
Modifiers are 2:-2, 3-5:-1, 6-8:+0, 9-11:+1, 12:+2
First, you choose a homeworld. Give me a description of what you think it is like and I'll tell you what that would mean in game terms. It gives you two skills at 0
You also had an education (3 + EDU mod basic skills at 0, the kind of skills you learn through study like the science skills), and basic training for your first job.
So you have Athletics, battle dress (woot), tactics, Heavy weapons, and Stealth, plus five more skills yet to be determined, at 0. You have Melee (blade) and Gun Combat at 1; that's not normal but Marines are awesome like that.
jpfite, can you please upload an image of the two pages detailing the marines (my pdf is being annoying, or I'd do it myself)? That's easier than me explaining. You had a roll on a 1d6 twice to determine a skill you gained (you roll before survival, and also every time you successfully advance in a career) You also have an event after survival: roll 2d6
Asteroid, Poor would give you zero-g 0 and animals 0, but that latter makes no sense so we'll change Poor to Vacuum
You have Zero-g 0 and Vacc Suit 0. These and your education skills are the five skils I mentioned.
A 12 on events means you're automatically promoted to lance corporal, giving you Gun Combat (any) 1 (with a different weapon than your previous gun combat). So you roll for skills again. You also succeeded on your advancement roll so your rank is corporal. You can instead have rolled for commission (soc 8+) instead of advancement, rising to become an officer, but we'll worry about that from next term onward.
So you have a total of 3 skill rolls to make this term, but its a pain in the ass to try to do this without you seeing the tables.
What you can do now without seeing the tables is pick a career path: were you in support, boarding actions, or ground assault?
jpfite pm'd me all the info I need to complete character creation so lets compile what i have so far before I lose track(all the skills that say any just mean I haven't had time to decide yet which specialty)
species: human, male
Ow lost some end from that fools charge apparently the guys in the room don't mind firing out of it. changes from last post are bolded
species: human, male
he is smarter this time and orders his men to EVA and cut through the hull from above as the others create a diversion taking the bridge crew by surprise. changes from last post are bolded
species: human, male career: marines-3(lance sergeant)
ok best to get out while my guy is youngish and healthy so time to muster out I have 5 rolls lets start with normal benefits I wouldn't be a marine if I didn't get at least combat armor out of this. (1d6)
