First off is posting your characters here. Preferably a name that is semi-common in the UK. Another thing I'd like is what you foresee your character's main struggle to be for the first academic semester/year. Later we'll choose one subject/spell that you start out with experience in, even if you're a muggle. We can flavor it in for the initial RP.
Players: Niria, d3vil, Morithias

Edit: Description
Spoiler
Appearance: For an eleven year old, Liz is a little taller than the rest of her peers, coming in at 5ft and weighing around 87lbs. She is slim but evidence of hard work can be clearly seen in the muscles that make up her body, and the hard calluses on her hands. She has lightly tanned skin, hazel eyes, and dark brown hair. Even as an eleven year old, most people see Liz as intimidating with her hard expressions and general lack of smiles. In her muggle clothing she dresses in a tomboyish fashion.
Personality: Liz is a very tough, take no crap, kind of girl. She generally doesn't care what people think of her, and is more than willing to pick a fight(which she does often). She has a general distrust of others, and hates social events. These personality traits often make Liz an outcast(and in constant trouble), but she doesn't mind the solitude. To the few people that Liz let's in her life, she is extremely protective and loyal. She will most likely do anything for these people.
Despite being socially challenged, Liz is a pretty decent student who will put in the extra effort to perfect a spell or potion.
Background:
Spoiler
Liz was born on October 17th, 1900 to an average working wizarding family that ran a small potion shop (Meyer's Magical Mixtures) in Diagon Alley. Her parents actually meet and started dating while in attendance at Hogwarts. Her mother, Aliana Lerwick, was a notable member of Ravenclaw who was known for her skill with potions. Her father, Aaron Meyers, was a member of Gryffindor and had a knack for charms. Altogether Aliana and Aaron was a generally nice couple who had many friends, and was well noted around the community.
There weren't many that knew about Aaron's deadly secret, that he was a werewolf. Aaron Meyers was bitten by a werewolf only a year prior to Liz's birth, but with the majority of the wizarding world heavily against the rights of werewolves, Aaron and Aliana decided to keep his condition a secret. Even Liz didn't learn the truth about her father’s condition until it was exposed, but by the point she thought nothing of her father’s monthly "hunting trips".
Liz was eight when the horrible truth about her father was exposed to the world, and her life was completely torn apart. At this time there was a huge investigation for a series of murders that were occurring around Diagon Alley, and the Ministry of Magic was making sure to thoroughly investigate all of the shop owners. Upon their investigation of Aaron, his secret was soon found out, and without any further questioning, all of the murders were pushed onto him along with Liz's mother. The Minstry of Magic claimed that Aliana was acting as an accomplice, and deserved the same fate as her husband. In an effort to make an example of werewolves everywhere, the ministry of magic held a public executions of the couple.
Life after her parent’s death was hard for Liz, as she was now known as a murderous werewolf's daughter. For the following year, her Aunt and Uncle's, not wanting to be associated with the incident, often passed her off to one another until she ended up moving in with her sickly grandmother (father's side) whom she started to take care of. She shares a special bond with her grandmother, and loves her very much. With her fathers secret revealed, many wizard's began to look upon the Meyer last name with disgust, and slowly the family's wealth began to dwindle. With her grandmother making barely enough to survive, Liz was forced to take odd-at-end jobs, so that she could help pay for rent and food. When Liz first received her Hogwart's letter, she wasn't sure if she was going to go, as she didn't want to leave her grandmother's side, but her Grandmother refused to let her stay and threatened to "petrify and carry Liz to the train station herself". Feeling both a little guilty and excited, Liz agreed to go.
At hogwart's Liz wants to study "Cross-species transformations" and perhaps figure out a way for werewolves to stay in control once they turn (of course this dream will not be fulfilled, but perhaps she can play a part in the creation of the Wolfsbane Potion).
Once she graduates I can see her either becoming a werewolf right's advocate and working directly for the ministry, or I can foresee her attempting to reopen her parents shop, and continuing her research.
With both options I can still see her attempting to prove her parent's innocence by finding the real serial killer and exposing him/her.
Of course, all future goals are subject to change based on the story.
I'll get more for History and Astronomy. Looks like two courses where you could need some extra input.
btw Morithias,
no herbology for the alchemist?
I thought we didn't take that til second year.
Hmmm...well it's a fair point, but I'm not sure. I mean in terms of being an alchemist or a baker, it's more important to know what to do with the plants rather than grow them. A baker doesn't need to know how to grow wheat to make good breads.
I dunno, just when I think alchemy I think of the philosopher's stone, or gunpowder, and those always struck me as Transfiguration and Potions respectively.
Also please note that although she likes inventing and has heard of alchemy I in no way expect her to actually to be able to do any of this stuff. Although she might in the 2nd or 3rd year read about black powder in the muggle world and try to show it off (putting her in the hospital of course).
I think I'll be taking muggle studies and arthmity (however you spell it) in my 3rd year, but that's not for a LONG time given how this is moving (not that I'm complaining, It'll probably speed up once we set our schedules).
Well, I'll be kind of slowing things down I fear. I'm living in Europe and based on common sense I shouldn't be regularly at a time like this (its 3:30 am at the moment). I'll try my best to keep up, tho.
oh and, quoting from the wiki:
Charms are the type of spell concerned with giving an object new and unexpected properties, ...

Maybe that's also part of Alchemy.
Argh! So many things fit so well! At this rate I'm going to need a time turner!
Potions are my aptitude and transfiguration is supposally one of the harder courses too. I'm hoping by using these two like this I'll be able to keep my grades higher up. By spending LESS time on potions and getting a bonus on a hard course.
Of course ideally I'd study and get Straight O's, but Hogwarts and DMs have a way of getting you involved in the plot.
There weren't many mentioned in the books that I can recall. Quiddich and dueling club, but I can't recall many others.
Hm ... Well, there was DA, lol. I guess there could be one for wizarding chess? Anyway, there is enough evidence that these things exist, we'll just have to come up with something ourselves.

The inventors club. Make trick wands, joke candies, and blow stuff up.
I honestly noticed, but didn't care. I just thought I had misunderstood something in the books. (Aside from the height-length thing and the fact the trio all have different cores I don't think they ever explained much about wand selection)
Thanks for giving me the Yew wand. I always loved archery, so yew has a special place in my heart (yes I have a favorite type of wood, that's not weird is it?)
My other two groups are slowing down in Diagon Alley. Gave them the option to jump ahead to the Hogwarts Express. You want to RP a little bit more in DA or do the same?

I'm fine with jumping ahead. Maria isn't in contact with anyone else, and if nothing is going to jump us or come up I'm fine with getting ahead to the plot and time management parts.
