Ok, so here's our thread to discuss all of our OOC stuff. I'll ask that the first three posts be reserved for Character sheets, but other than that, discuss anything here.

Second Integrity excellency
Fateful Melee excellency
Fateful Dodge excellency
First Athletics excellency
Dodge:
Absence: For 2m, reflexively eliminate penalties to my Dodge DV
Duck Fate: For 10m, roll Dexterity+Dodge against a difficulty equal to the attackers essence (harmful natural effects are considered essence 1). If I succeed, the effect if perfectly dodged.
Athletics:
Forgotten Earth: For 1m, triple the distance of a single jump.
Burn Life: For the purposes of feats of strength, my strength is doubled and all stunts provide double their normal bonus.
Unswerving Juggernaught Technique: For five motes, I become covered in Ruby stardust and take off running. So long as I continue moving forwards, my soaks increase by 5, I ignore fatigue, need no sleep and add my essence to all athletics checks.
Melee:
Harmony of Blows: I may make a magical flurry of up to 5 attacks, at the cost of 2m per attack (or 5m flat if they're all Melee attacks). No enemy may have more than one attack made against them unless I pay a 1 willpower surcharge when activating the charm.
Investigation:
Efficient Secretary Technique - May spend 2m to get a perfectly accurate answer to a single question, provided it is couched in terms of empirical facts (who stabbed, not who murdered)
Stealth:
Soft-Treading method: May pay 4m and 1will for a scene to ensure that peripheral motes for stealth charms do not affect the anima banner. Each tick, may spend up to 3 peripheral motes on other charms with affecting the banner.
Walking Outside Fate: May pay one willpower and commit 5m to become totally invisible to anything with an essence score of less than 4. Flaring my anima breaks this, and if circumstantial evidence tells someone where I am, they still take a -2 external penalty on any attacks.
Subordinate Inspiration Technique: While walking outside of fate, I may spend a mote and whisper a phrase. Targets must pass a Perception+Awareness roll at difficulty 3 or believe that the words are their own thoughts.
Integrity:
Heroic essence replenishment: When I channel willpower through my Valor, I gain 10 motes of essence back. When I use Presence to accomplish something valorous, I gain the same amount.
Martial Arts:
Flight of Mercury: I may pay 2m to decrease the speed of a martial arts attack by 1.
Secrets of Future Strife: I may pay three motes to automatically convert 4 dice of a Join battle roll into successes. I may also draw my swords reflexively as part of the roll.

"Mom died when I was young. She's... A sound. A lullaby. I don't remember anything else. Dad raised me. Did his best. Taught me how to work, how to hunt. Made sure I could read and write enough to go to college. But when he died it didn't leave much in the way of means. So I signed up, figured I'd go on the G.I. bill.
Came back... Little broke. You know how it is. Too many shells getting too close. Too many things that are too loud. Saw a few of those super types that were running around at the end. Beautiful and terrible and oh so very loud. Sunk my money into drinking instead of schooling.
Natalie pulled me out of that. Heard her sing at one of the bars I was spending my nights and days in. She sounded like an angel come down to lift us all off of those stools and back into the world. I got myself cleaned up. Got a job working on the docks. Signed up for some classes. Worked my way up to asking her out.
We had a good thing for a few months. A great thing even. Hell we even got a cat. I was happy. We were happy.
I remember the heat. Running. I had her hand in mine. And then... I'm outside and she isn't. And I hear her yell. Something about her mother's bracelet. So I turned around. Ran after her. Saw her with the bracelet in her hand. She turned and then... Then that rafter fell. I tried to get to her. To pull it off of her. But the second I got there.... Smirnov tells me I imagined the next part. Says I must have put the damn thing on while it was hot from the fire. But I swear that damn bracelet slithered up my arm like a snake. Last thing I remember is it burning into my skin molten hot.
Woke up to Smirnov standing over my hospital bed. Introduced himself. Asked some basic questions, took my statement. Said I'd been babbling in my sleep. Some nonsense about a silver mother. When I got well he took me back to the apartment. Said it looked like the fire had been sparked by a bit of bad wiring. But I could see. Crystal clear. How the fire started. The traces of gasoline. The blaze of the match. I showed Smirnov what I could.
He took me under his wing after that. Taught me how to brawl. How to hurt a man with only my hands. How to take my anger and turn it against those who deserved it. To own the rage that welled up whenever I thought of her. He brings me in from time to time. To spot the things he can't. To go after the men he can't. To handle things when they get too messy to stay on the books.
Smirnov says I need to let it go. To move on and help as many people as I can who are still alive. But I can't. I don't know his face. Or his name. But someday I'm going to find the man who killed my angel. And I'm going to make sure his last moments are begging for mercy. She deserves that much."

Points me in the right direction from time to time. Sends me to handle the things that a man with a badge to lose and a family to support can't.
I think he worries about me too much. Catch him watching me out of the corner of his eye sometimes. It's like he's waiting for something or making sure I'm still there. From what I can tell he's been through his own rough patches. Trying to make up for his own failures by seeing me through mine. Good on him, I suppose."

Background
Spoiler
The man that would become call sign Broadside was nothing but a minor functionary, a bureaucrat pushing papers in some unimportant office. He had no close family, no friends, he just went to work and went to a local bar to listen to the ball game on the radio. It was for this very reason he was chosen, he would not be missed. He was told he had been transferred to a research facility, that he had to leave as soon as possible. The man shrugged and did as he was told, and that was the last anyone saw of him. Anyone mortal, anyway.
When he next saw the light of day, it was on a testing range. He was different now, his flesh made into metal, his soul bonded with something inhuman. At first, his natural apathy kept him docile and under control. He fired at the targets they gave him, rested when he was told to and studied the documents they gave him, mostly the laws of Crane Bay, known criminal gangs, and theories of corrupt officials. He did not understand, until the day they sent him home. They said he was a prototype, a law enforcement drone designed to engage entire gangs at once. But he felt he was more, better than just a drone. He still reports for repairs and ammunition, but now Broadside does more than obey directives and gun down criminals. Now, he tries to make the city better.
But he can't shake what he is. A monster made of dead things, hammered into an inhuman shape. He tried to be good, noble, but some of the laws they wanted him to uphold are...wrong. They had him blow up a housing tract to force squatters out, they had him collect payoffs from the mob so the cops would look the other way on certain activities. Broadside still upholds the law, but Crane Bay has tarnished his impervious hide somewhat. Now, he doesn't think he can change the world, but maybe he can make a small part of it more tolerable.

Me too. Johnson is an embittered cop with a Temperance of 1, so odds are, he'll be in a bar somewhere, drowning his sorrows.
Interestingly, if we ever do end up working together to the point of revealing motivations and the like, well... Blackmore wants to find the identity of the individual who burned his house down. And Johnson has Efficient Secretary Technique. Hello, vengeance!
Just got to convince the rather paranoid Sidereal to help you.

And Horus, I'm not going to lie I laughed a bit more then is healthy at that last post in the recruitment.
I don't blame you. Their little pissing contest was really getting on my nerves, I had to end it somehow. I don't usually like to treat players, or potential players like that, but as ST I suppose it's my job.
Anyway, as for story stuff, There were a couple of things I wanted to run past you guys before we got started. First off, do you all know each other? Blackmoore and Broadside both work for the PD, and Broadside's mortal last name is the same as Adam's, so it would make sense that you all are at least familiar with each other.

I had assumed that Blackmoore was aware of Broadside.

Hmm. An interesting idea, certainly. How about this - Adam is, in my own mind, several centuries old (he's not more than essence 3 partly because of the inherent limits in the Modern shard, and partly because the Infernals keep a tight watch on their Sidereal pawns who might otherwise grow dangerously strong). He's well known as a Sidereal who really doesn't like the Infernals, so when the time came for test subjects to be picked for the Alchemical experiment, one of the Defilers picked a member of his family just to spite him.
That's probably when his Motivation changed to its current form, to be honest. I doubt he knows a great deal about his descendant, but family ties are hard to shake regardless.
That acceptable?
(Adam is unlikely to know a huge amount about Blackmore, unless the Infernals were tracking his Exaltation and sent Adam to go do something about it. Recruitment or elimination, probably.)

Yeah, that's great. So it stands to reason that the three of you know each other, so that makes things a little bit easier to get started.

Good point. It makes more sense for you to know of each other, rather than be acquainted.

I am quite sure that plot will solve that problem soon enough. I don't know what our group goal will end up being, but I for one am hoping for something along the lines of 'bring down the Infernals' or 'Free the celestial Incarnae'. A chance to be heroes of a sort, even with the Noir feel.
Exalted don't dream small, after all.

Heh. Granted, it might be a bit difficult, what with him being imprisoned on the Sun... still, it's doable. I'd just need to learn some Journey Aspected charms first.
(There's a Resistance charm which gives immunity to an environmental affect, like fire, and a Sail charm that guarantees you can get to where you need to go... though not necessarily easily.)
