As in, 'you took 10 for your attack, hitting 33', but you don't have a damage roll for that, so roll regular damage, crit damage and crit confirmation, I take it?
Edit: Wow. Fate smiles on you for two seconds only to snap back in place.
WAIT! I must look up something, but... is it possible to counter-sunder?
I can't imagine that sword has a +4 size modifier... does it?

Wait a second, are you sure you don't add class bonus to defence against sunder attacks? Otherwise Sundering would eb the most potent strategy possible from mid-level onwards since the weapons defence wouldn't scale
Youmu's so thick she thinks Yousuke's resolve comes from the sword itself? Prove her ass wrong!

I have the weirdest sense of deja vu right now, guys

This just plain makes no sense. Sundering just breaks a weapon, and triggers an AoO against the person doing the sundering. At most, you deprive an enemy of a kunai. Unless they have a specific build requiring a specific weapon(i.e: Houshi's). Otherwise, all ninja can still use their d3 fists.
Let's see, katana's are large size (somehow) so the flat AC of the sunder would be
8 = 5 + 4 (Yousuke's Dex) -1 (size modifier)
That seems way too low, since it means that Youmu's... would... be.... even... lower... YOUSUKE, SUNDER ATTEMPT, NOW
Yousuke also has a +2 from speed ranks and +6 from class. If those two are applies, the Defence of the sword is instead 16, so Youmu failed to damage it

ZN, I think you're in that oddly entropic way of thinking. If that's the sunder DC, it means a master swordswoman like Sanagi Bea could be taken down easily by even some low level scrubs like us just by making attacks against her sword, since the Defence would only be about 10.
Also fighting styles with swords emphasise footword and specifically evading blade-to-blade contact since such a thing would be a lot more... in fact, just read this article. Skip to entry 4
Well even without his sword Yousuke is still very adept at dodging and has some ninjutsu to fall back on. And even then, he carries no less than 3 swords on him in case one breaks.

They are not.

No, you're just in an extremely weird thought process that makes literally no sense. Yes, you can very easily break a sword--lets take Sanagi's for example. But then she draws a spare kunai and kills you anyway. Sunder that? She can still beat you to death with her d3 lethal fists. The only time sundering matters will be against extremely niche builds(Houshi's) or those who rely on specific weapons due to their fighting styles(Hiten Mitsuragi Ryuu or Shinmei Ryuu).
Shattering Sanagi's sword(which is stronger than Yousuke's standard sword because it's mastercraft) just means she'll use a kunai or her fists.

If your sword breaks, I have a frankly insane but cool plan, if you'll hear me out. Of course, since the use of the graduation sword relied on his loyalty to his grandfather, my plan would require him to use his relationship... with Amon. Yeah.

No, but... In Kendo, one doesn't.... you're trained, reflected in the class bonus to....
You know what, I never win with you ZN, no one ever does. Fine, if you can't beat them, join them. Bad, break Youmu's sword, make this odd rule work to your advantage.
If we meet a weaponmaster, I'm breaking all their nice things

I meant an enemy weaponmaster's mastered weapons. I'm not gonna just grab Youki's fine china and start throwing it against the wall or anything.
Although I do get a sort of sick glee when I contemplate such a thing, just imagining how he would react.
...
The sword would just fix itself anyway, right? OH WAIT, HARDNESS. Never mind, Yousuke's swings aren't strong enough for such a task even if I ACTUALLY thought it was a good idea.
I just realised the sword has only taken 7 of its 30 points of damage due to its hardness of 10.

Welp, I think this fight is clearly decided. Bad, hurry up and finish her. I'm getting sick and tired of your inability to roll a 10 (which is, of course, YOUR OWN FAULT, somehow)
---
I wonder how effective this luminol will be - I'll just assume the fight kind of lamp for optimising the stuff.
