Default Malevolent Spirit of Summer

Well, I've posed this question to everyone I know with a creative streak and they haven't been able to help me. So I bring it the mass of creativity that is the playground. I need a malevolent spirit somehow tied to the season of summer for a story that takes place in New England. I'm at a dead loss myself, any ideas?

Where did you start your first campaign?

My PC's woke up on a deserted shore on the edge of a jungle surround by the wreckage of their ship.

I would suggest the Lady Midday, but it is a Slavic fairy, which might make it unsuited for New England.
