Yeah, shame the party is letting the DMPC solo him....
Hey, Valen's the one who ran off in the opposite direction! At least Henry and Mithril can attempt to shoot at him? And Miriam can get at him in a turn. How much HP does Valen have anyway?

And those spot checks are ominous.
No, he did what had to be done, slow him down and keep him away from the squishies, otherwise he would be in the ranks and that is bad news.
And the spot rolls are just spot rolls.
Edit: Had Valen not crossed the party to hold that flank it would be Natalia, Mithril, and Henry to take him on in melee. Let me know which one of you can survive more than two rounds against him...
On Average damage he will drop Valen to -11/-12...
Maybe you should have Miriam scratch her action (it was made with bad knowledge after all) and heal Valen instead? She can get to him in one turn if she moves diagonally. Actually, no. She should definitely do that. Otherwise we're gonna have Henry as the new DMPC, and I like him better as an NPC.

Nope, action is posted and makes the most sense.
Natalia could just run over there and mix it up. She may be able to deal enough damage to put him down.

I agree. (Can't blame us, you were the one playing Miriam's action!)
ETA: Why does Miriam's action (healing Kurt) make the most sense?

I dunno...I mean, I can't full attack or even sneak attack; I'm only doing 1d6+1 damage. Rogues, especially TWF rogues, can do a scary amount of damage, but only when they can full attack and/or sneak attack. Really, Miriam would heal the one who's most hurt, and that's Valen.

Difference was Kurt with 10HP, Valen with 8HP. Valen was more likely to survive thanks to his AC. Kurt is a giant target who will likely be hit if attacked.
Hm...Mithril and Henry fire their crossbows and hope they get lucky? Maybe Natalia can draw fire onto herself...Kurt's just gonna smash like always. Not that that's a problem.
Say, Admiral, you went to Harvard undergraduate and are a grad student at Princeton, right? Which one do you prefer?
I don't think it makes much sense to compare schools in that way, especially since the experiences of an undergraduate and a graduate student are so different. Any comparisons I could make would have to be on the most superficial level. (Which is in a more fun city? Harvard. Which has prettier architecture? Princeton).
Graduate school in particular isn't well suited to school-by-school comparisons. You choose a school based on the labs and researchers that are there.
FWIW, I'm back visiting Harvard right now (for the Harvard/Yale game tomorrow!)
I was wondering which atmosphere you preferred, etcetera. I guess I'll be more qualified to answer that question a few years, especially if I'm fortunate enough to stay here and go to Cornell vet school! I guess you're right with that comparison though.
