Yes, whether we ran from illusions, or the threat of his magic and the 6 other orcs, we ran. Hopefully they're content that we ran and don't track us immediately.
Alabastor's cave and taking on the Hooded One. Ah well, at least we can return to Linwood and debrief. They have arrows there for Kurt's new bow, right?
I agree with Achinca - Kurt can make enquiries when they get back to town, and for the rest, just ask yourself "Would Natalia suspect his?"
I would suspect it, because of my meta-knowledge of ogre mages, but Kurt wouldn't for a variety of reasons. If you have to ask permission to suspect it, then maybe the answer is already obvious, as if you're asking permission to do something, it must be out of the ordinary?
I think Natalia would hold it as a possibility but an unlikely one. She does have 18 Int and the memory of Shiny's silver dragon antics on the ship a week or so ago.
It could also be that it is not an illusion at all. Who knows? May be part of the alliance between the tribes is that the ogres send some mages and the orcs send clerics or Gruumsh or something.
Either way , I see zero reason why anyone would suspect in game to be an illusion. To me, the one most likely to suspect an illusion is Shiny because he is trickster himself. But Natalia might be super intelligent but why would she suspects it to be an illusion?
Miriam is really wise but she took the ogre mages at face value.
Different topic: I/Miriam would expect that we have shaken the wasp nest. From the orcs points on view, they must do something. If they don;t what will prevent us to do the same thing tomorrow: come over and kill a bunch of orcs and run away and do it tomorrow.
If the hooded one is as smart as I think he is, he will need to move. Or he will not have enough of a force to launch a meaningful attack.
OK. Not sure of much of this is meta versus game knowledge, but I wanted this on the table for all to think about it.
I mean that if Natalia was making a list of possibilities, she'd include it. And yeah, I think we may have forced their hand. This could be...bad. Or good, depending on how prepared we are.

Who said Alabastor's cave is out of our league? The guy isn't toted to be an evil lich king, just a powerful mage who liked to create items and who was considered crazy. It's highly doubtful anyone would die inside of his cave.
Remember to look at the cave from an IC perspective, its only when you start throwing OOC knowledge around like spell level, CRs etc that you get more afraid. Yes he was a powerful mage, but nothing in that cave to date was harmful besides a choker which took up residence in that entry area.
Yes, Linwood has arrows. They would be one of those mundane items which are located everywhere.
Also, Coffee would you be nice enough to list all of the loot for me. Its one thing I'm not really good at keeping track of is the loot I've given out.

The goal was to get some recon info and thin out a few warriors. We know they have ogre mages and took down 7 orcs.
Not bad in a day's work. And we also found a potential cave to explore later.
Meta Knowledge is tough to deal with.
I agree, the expedition was a success. The group managed to get through it alive, took out a solid number of Orcs, ~7% of their fighting Force.

It's the damn choker that's got Natalia so afraid! She nearly lost Mithril once; she knows that Mithril's going to be super-excited and curious inside the cave (as is Natalia) and doesn't want to almost lose her again. OOC, I'm excited but a bit cautious.

Got it, I'll update my sheet right now. And really, that many?

But would she consider it likely enough to affect her actions? And I wouldn't say Int is the right atribute to figure it out, I'd say Wisdom is more important.

Again, achinca is wise. I like your take on the situation.

So, anyone want an IC conversation?
Look to the IC thread.

Yes, that many. And the chocker wasn't a real threat, the only reason that things went down how they did is that Mithril provided me the perfect opportunity. And mages aren't that durable. The creature really wasn't that scary, it just had superior tactics.

She might think of some way to check (throw a rock to see if it passes through, that sort of thing), but it would be far from her primary thought. I think Natalia would come up with the possibility eventually, but more quickly if Shiny does something to remind her of it. And yeah, Shiny will probably think of it first!

I know that, and with good tactics we should be safe. Still, knocking the mage from full health to -9 in two turns is really scary. Especially IC.

Well, those Orcs could have killed her on a Crit, and would have easily dropped her negative with a non Crit. They were just as scary.
But it's less scary since she wasn't jumped! I just think it's kinda funny.
I don't think resting in the cave is a good idea.
I'm impartial on the idea, but Valen thinks its a good idea. He also wants to regroup and attack the Orcs again. But, he's that kinda guy.
(Valen Thinks) An immediate attack on Linwood is unlikely. Orcs wouldn't abandon their home after being attacked until they thought the threat had passed. He'd think attacking and weakening them is only buying Linwood time.
Edit: Then again, Valen doesn't have any OOC knowledge either!
Natalia is worried that they'll go after Linwood and not them; if it's clear that the orcs are following them then she might suggest hiding out in the cave to see what happens, and then return to Linwood once they're thrown off the trail. At least we've got Henry to help us track! She's also aware that Mithril might be uncomfortable in the cave where she nearly got killed.

Remember, I'm arguing with you as a DMPC(with purposefully limited knowledge) not as the DM. The things I advise from this respect may not be the best solution, but I'm trying to stay in character.

I know that. The problem is that I, and Natalia, are limited by Natalia's extremely poor communication skills.
Wait, I don't think Henry should leave until we all go to the caves! There we could decide whether to split up or return to Linwood as a group. Athedia, I think either Knowledge (Nature) or Knowledge (Dungeneering)
