That won't matter if you are searching for traps. Searching at all takes a lot of time, basically 5' in 6 seconds(1 Round). 5' in 2 minutes if you take 20, and that assumes you are only checking the floor, not scouring the walls or ceiling! And if the area widens, double the time. If you take 10 you may miss some stuff, and if you choose to roll, I'll do it in private to avoid spoiling any surprises to avoid Meta rechecks. You can choose to take your time, basically get two checks for double time(One of which can be a take 10 if you so desire)

How often would I have to reroll? And will you have a map up?
Hm, if I take 10 on Search then I've got a 20, and I've also got a +10 on Disable Device checks.
How about a poisoned crossbow with a glass to break? Should fit the bill since she doesn't have a bell or anything.
Shocking grasp copper tripwire?
That sounds like a good idea. Hm...Maybe we can leave Whiskers here; he's got a +13 to hide checks, a +14 to move silently checks, and darkvision. If anyone comes in, then they get damaged by the trap and then Whiskers can use his empathetic link to alert us.
You can do that? And can we hear it from all the way in the cave? I was thinking Whiskers as a guard.
Whiskers is a great idea. Truly.
It would be a very very crude Magical(Sound Burst) trap with a mechanical(tripwire) trigger. Since we aren't making a permanent trap, I'd say It would last for at least a day before the spell would fade and it would only take the copper wire tripwire and Miriam casting the spell.
Sound Burst is certainly loud and should be heard down the cave system thanks to echos.
Now you just have to get Miriam to give up one of her best remaining spells.
How long would it take for Natalia to set up a poisoned crossbow trap? I mean, Miriam could cast the spell on the tripwire at the same time.
But, I'm already letting you skirt the rules for such a trap by not paying gold for components and xp and gold for the spells. If this gets more complicated then I will start using those rules.
Its a basic tripwire trap, one time use. And it will either crudely fire a crossbow or set off a temporary spell. Not both.
I believe that Valen and Mithril still have Mage Armor up.

Oh, okay. So it's either Whiskers and a poisoned bolt or Sound Burst. What do you guys think? I'll let you decide. Though...Actually, Sound Burst does sound a bit better. Aww, but I wanted to show off her expertise.
Well, we could make it look like if they come in they'll meet the same fate. Along with the bolt. Also, we could make a better hiding spot for Whiskers.

You could do that. Valen wouldn't. He'd figure that if they are coming in after us through a powerful illusion, that won't really phase them.
Mithril just's wants you to know that Whiskers might be frightened by some other creature going nearby And you will have an angry wizard on your hands if he dies.
