Perhaps we should wait until some of the wiser group members chip in before we set fire to a web whose extent we don't know? (What if it, like, covers the whole corridor)?
On second thought, we could use a little risk. Burn away.
Unrelated, did I mention I loved Natalia's setup of the trap earlier?

Fine, let's see how far the web goes first. And no, you didn't. You could stand to mention it.
By that do you mean the actual setup of the trap or how I wrote it?
But if we work together, we won't lose! We only have one encounter left before we're completely drained though. Except for Natalia. As long as she has enough HP she can just keep going and going and going...
same here. I am sorry. I was a great piece of RP which did not get the praise it merits.
Agreed.

Hey, Zman, can we see through the mirage to the outside of the cave?
Zombies.....
And yes you can, but you are no longer anywhere near the cave exit.

The benefits of being a non caster. You stay useful while those Tier 1s run out of steam, too bad many DMs are too willing to let characters rest every 10 seconds without consequences.
It is not being mean ... it is being a good evil DM .....

I agree 100%. Too often, people rest and there is no consequences, like in a video game .... BBEG does not reorganize nor get reinforcement ... I like adventures which are timeline sensitive ... e.g. Red Hand of Doom ... makes the rsting every 6 seconds to pay. Resting is actually not the issue. It is the lack of consequences ....

We speak the same language. I try and making resting a bit risky with a percentage random encounter based upon the safety of the area, etc.
I don't strive to be an evil DM, merely a good DM.
What happens in the campaign Red Hand of Doom? And your comment on zombies sounds ominous, Zman.
The DM's not supposed to be evil, he's supposed to make a tough fight. And a good DMPC makes it less likely for a DM to be too cruel since his character's neck is on the line too!
I think Kurt and Natalia are close to each other. Natalia may be a bit behind, but not more than a foot, and she's searching as they go. Maybe they're swiping their torches in front of them to burn any webs? If there's a spider, Kurt's in front of her.

.
It is a published module with a strict timeline ......
I have killed my own DMPC more than once. The group acted stupidly and a few heroes met their makers ....

Based upon your description there will be a penalty to your search. If you are looking for traps, you are in front. Can't be a trap expert and be behind the frontliners as you will be checking for traps in the square they are already in.

I think she's basically next to Kurt. But if she hears something skittering she's jumping back. And no swiping with torches to burn the webs before them?
