Default Nightmare spinner dip

on a gestalt (both sides can advance prestige classes) beguiler/fullcaster//illusionist wizard/master specialist/ultimate magus

worth it?

pros: will save bump, and double extra spell slots

cons: not really many class features

sigh... I wish there were more illusionist prestige class, not shadowX where x is (adept, crafter)

Dual casting classes technically aren't allowed in gestalt.

since when is nightmare spinner a dual class? ultimate magus is ok, says the DM (ME) this is for a new player, who loves the idea of having all the illusions.

It's helpful and considered good manners to state such things beforehand. We can't know all your houserules after all, and we can't read minds.

Spoiler

Throw on some Shadowcraft Mage and you're good. Check out the Shadowcraft Mage Handbook to get some background on that, but keep in mind it's fairly limited by the player's knowledge of what evocations and conjurations he can emulate.

If you're going to use Nightmare Spinner, you may as well include Dread Witch from Heroes of Horror. Get the feat Dreadful Wrath (PGtF) or Frightful Presence (Draconomicon p106) and learn Aura of Terror (SpC) for greater effect. Maybe check out the Fear Handbook for more information on that, but stacking fear effects can quickly get out of hand. I'd definitely include some Prestige Bard to get Inspire Awe and Doomspeak if you're doing that.
