For Falcon, at least, I imagine his promotion would be him getting a sudden flash of insight into his sword style thanks to his promotion item, causing him to discard his flashier movements for a more effective and deadly style; thus, he becomes a Swordmaster.
Heh, Hugo's already ditched the flashiness. Since he takes up killing as a grim task, he has decided to make it end as swift as possible.

And I haven't thought about how he would ICly promote. That's a rather good question...

Hmmm. That gives me a couple of ideas already.

If Hugo goes Assassin, it could simply be 'make it end as swift as possible' taken to its logical conclusion. As an older man, maybe he sees that he cannot match the sheer physicality of the younger party members, and realises he will need to make efficiency into an art form. So a bit of tailoring to his training regimen, a bit of studying up on how to kill efficiently with the minimum amount of effort, and BAM, he's an Assassin with the Silencer skill.

If Hugo goes Swordmaster instead, it could be as simple as him and Falcon exchanging tips, and eventually developing his own style.

Hm...that makes sense...

Also, Vulneraries are liquid? I thought they were herbs, powder, bandages or something like that.

It's never even been stated whether they're eaten or applied. It's one of the great mysteries of Fire Emblem, like shooting arrows through walls.

I always thought that eeach Vulnerary had enough materials to be efficiently used up to three times- after which, it ran out of bandages/powder/was eaten.

....is it a kind of fruit?

This is [Vulnerary] 「傷薬」

My dictionary says 傷薬をつける [apply (an) ointment ((to a wound))]. This is normal meaning. Sometimes games use [Drink] command, but that is English translation [Potion].

Are those all vulenraries, or only a specific one?

And ah. So it has meaning in the original Japanese.

Whoever made the initial decision to translate it as 'Vulnerary' really should be taken out to the back and shot. So much wasted speculation could have been saved if they had just translated it as 'Ointmint'.

@Kasanip,

I guess it is rejected, then?

Okay, Sairyu will be back soon, so we need to come to a consensus on a plan for him to update with.

Western Front:

Dunrock moves to WF1, trades Lloyd for his vulnerary and uses it.

Lloyd trades for his vulnerary back.

Nina trades Lloyd for a vulnerary and uses its last use.

Callum moves to WF3 and uses a vulnerary.

Imeena moves to WE3.

Northern/Center Front:

Madeline moves to CD13 and heals Wotan.

Hugo moves to CC14 and shoves Wotan.

Adele moves to CD14 and shoves Wotan.

Oren moves to NO13 and shoves Paris.

Wotan moves to CJ13 and attacks Soldier7. 87% chance to kill.

If Wotan misses, Paris moves to CJ12 and attacks Soldier7. 87% chance to kill.

Falcon moves to NL15.
GrassyGnoll

Quote:
Lloyd to E3

Nina to F6, attack Merc 12

Imeena to F5, rescue Nina

Influence Galer to take and deposit Nina

Durnock to G2

Callum to F3

(append; have Nina/Durnock chug vulneraries)
~
(Ballista 7 will be back shortly)

Madeline to D13, heal Wotan

Wotan to E10 (edge of Ballista 5 range)

Paris to E11

Hugo to D11

Adele to F12

(Adele will probably stay behind w/ N infantry to repel the cavalry; Wotan, Hugo & Paris to reinforce the West)
~

Oren to C-B15

Falcon to L15

Roland to H10, shop
Which one are we going with, guys?

EDIT: @Kasanip,

Does 傷薬 itself mean a kind of medicinal cream that you apply directly to the wound?

Not enough Con.

We can use WBS's W front plan though.

Far too many enemy forces incoming? Oh, bugger. You really don't want us reaching the East CT, do you Sairyu?

West Front

Alright, we cannot have the West team hold their ground, they'll just get tagged from two fronts at once. Time to shift the frontline a bit.

Nina to W-F6, attacks Soldier #6

Callum to W-F7, attacks Soldier #6, canto to W-E6.

Imeena to W-F7, attacks Soldier #6 if not dead. Otherwise, attacks Swordsman #20. In both cases, stay where she is.

Durnock to W-F5, Rescues Nina.

Lloyd to W-E5, Takes and Drops Nina at W-E4.

Central Front

Roland Loots the Armory, cantos to N-J15.

Argoth to C-D17.

Oren to C-E17.

Adele to C-F17.

Falcon to C-B15.

Wotan to C-F13.

Paris to C-F12.

Madeline to C-D14.

Hugo Waits.

How does this look?

Central front redraft

(that was a quite fortuitous tweak to Wotan's move action)

Quote:
Paris to K12, attack Soldier 7, canto to J12

Wotan to I12, rescue Paris

Argoth to E12, shove Adele

Adele to L12, attack Mage 3

Oren to F14

Falcon to C-B15

Roland to H11, shop, canto to N-J15

Hugo to H12, take Paris and deposit at H11

Madeline to F12
(Hugo/Paris bait a ballista shot, but Madeline is on-hand to heal anyone)

edit: divert Oren/Adele/Argoth to block East cavalry charge, et al go South

Do keep in mind the enemy calvary force from the East is approaching, and we'll need sturdy bodies to hold the line. I was planning to place Paris and Wotan such that they'll bait attacks from the mage and the soldier accordingly; they both have WTA against their counterparts.

Nina has to use Thunder if we want to take out Soldier 7 with both her and Callum.

Can we change the plan that if Soldier 6 dies Imeena takes the top row. and Callum takes the bottom row. That way Imeena and Nina can benefit from their support

I'm just saying that there're 7 cavaliers (mix), some fighters, and a bunch of archers (meaning that ballistae #6 and #7 are coming back online) to deal with.

Also I'd like a decision on what [steel] weapons Roland'll be grabbing before next update (or else I'll roll for it).

Then Thunder it is.

Well, we could do that, but whoever takes the bottom row will have to eat an arrow as well in addition to swords and magic. I'm not sure Callum has the toughs to handle that.

While I think the AI is a little beyond baiting at this point, I agree that Adele/Oren/Argoth should hold off the East cavalry.

Ilven's plan for the West looks cleanest. Imeena for a canto-attack on a Swordsman, Nina/Callum pick off the Soldier.

Get ready to throw Galer/Durnock under the Domnibus.

Edit: And with Ballistas 6 & 7 back in business, we may want to have Wotan start down the E10 alley instead

central draft II
Quote:
Paris to G7

Wotan to F7, rescue Paris

Madeline shoves Hugo

Hugo to E7, take Paris (Hugo should now draw Ballista shot/Merc attack)

Oren to D14, shove Madeline

Argoth to C-F19

Adele to D15

Falcon to B15

Well the swordsmen can't damage Callum at all thanks to WTA

Mage does 4.

Merc does 3

Archer does 4.

Ballista does x.

He should be able to handle it. In fact he does about the same as Imeena. (The mage does 6 to her.)

Okay then, summation of revised plans;

West Front

Spoiler

Central Front

Spoiler

Will Hugo be able to survive the Merc attack and a Ballista hit? I'd really rather not have him incapped again if possible.

It seems that most of the enemy cavalry is coming in through the C row; if we have Adele go to C-E15 and Shove Argoth to C-E17, Argoth can move to C-C19 and basically hold up the entire advance. Is that worth trying?

Finally, I have to confess that I'm not entirely sure which two Steel weapons we should go for. Suggestions?

EDIT: Edited to reflect Illven's comments below.

Only if Callum kills Soldier 20, otherwise go for your initial plan.

Hugo will take 9 damage from the ballista, and 7 from the ballista, that'll be 16. He'll be hurting, but alive.

I'd say Steel lance and Bow, We're much closer to lifting those without a speed hit.
