Doing so is befriending, will cost you two actions but right away and from this point on you can give it orders as if it was your own PC (essentially, you have 2 PCs ). You can befriend as many NPCs as you have levels. Note tamed beasts don't count towards this.
Note, C7 needs to move North into your hex for you to befriend him. So between him moving north and you using befriend, both of you will only have 2 actions. I think since we're even split I'll work on making a larger map that incorporates both hexes now. Both hexes are now staying in contact during off turns.

Yeah, planting and tending bushes sounds good. An I think I only need a few more turns training him.
Also, is there any way to stop more creeps from popping, or at least slow down how many turns between pops? Unless everyone is okay with it, but soon we will probably have too many on our hands to tend to.

Right now the North Hex has only 2 pick berry actions. And both those berries are staying with Taff. So the orders to plant berries can't even be done until more are gathered.
Edit: Please be sure all final orders are bolded. I will disregard unbolded orders. If you change orders, strike through the old orders and make a new post with the change.

I'm still confused about the rations: C8 ended his turn in our hex, the North one, and it currently has two rations stored, so why didn't he eat one? Please know that I'm not trying to be difficult - I really don't care about him being hungry, and as I said, we need that one ration for this turn, so I'm happy with things how they are - but I have the unpleasant feeling that there's something I'm missing here.

2 things to note. Since they are not friends of yours, you must use the Order action to make them do anything. C1 has been doing it most of the game till he decided to send them your way. Unless someone tells them to do anything, they will automatically guard, then eat rations at the start of the next turn if there are any available.
