Silly Message Board GamesA forum for any kind of quote games, continuing story games, "What would you do if?" games, or whatever anyone comes up with. Old threads will now expire after one month.
Welcome back to my first non-inherited Heal/Hurt! This, as you may have guessed, is similar to Crisis21's now-concluded OotS Heal/Hurt, only with the cast consisting of characters from Avatar: The Last Airbender (AKA Avatar: The Legend of Aang). Unlike my previous Heal/Hurts, the days are in proper synchronization as well.
Each day, any person on this forum can vote to Heal (+1 HP) and Hurt (-1) (once each, unless otherwise stated) one of the listed characters. Each character starts the game with 10 HP. There is no max HP. When a character ends the day with their HP below 0 they are listed as DEAD and cannot be Healed or Hurt. Last character standing wins.
Voting on all possibilities is not mandatory. If, for whatever reason, you don't feel like casting a particular vote that day, don't feel obligated to do so. If you only cast a Hurt, or only a Heal, it will still be counted.
More details are in the spoilers below.
Powers:
Spoiler
When a character reached 20 HP, they enter Avatar State. When in this state, the character is immune to all hurts and heals. Additionally, they receive a special ability called an Avatar Power that players may choose to activate in addition to whatever actions they could normally perform that day. Avatar Powers cannot affect another character who is in Avatar State unless otherwise stated in the power description. There are two main types of Avatar Powers: Character-targeted, in which players vote on which character is affected by the ability, and up-or-down votes, in which players vote on whether or not the power will take affect. Players may vote on any and all up-or-down votes available on a given day, but may only vote on one character-targeted power per type of power (In other words, everyone gets one character-targeted Avatar Power vote, one character-targeted Reverse Power vote and one character-targeted Dark Power vote). Any powers that have special targeting systems, such as nation-targeted powers, count as up-or-down powers for purposes of whether players may vote on them or not. Characters cannot be affected by their own powers.
Avatar State lasts for one day. The day after Avatar State, a character experiences Avatar State Cooldown, during which time they are reduced to 15 HP plus an additional 2 hp for every other time they have entered Avatar State so far. The amount of HP required to enter Avatar State increases by 5 each time.
There are also conditions where characters' Reverse Powers or Dark Powers activate. A Reverse Power is similar to the power a character normally activates when entering Avatar State, but with the opposite target or effect. A Dark Power can be a more powerful version of a character's normal power, or a different power entirely. Once a Reverse Power has been activated, whether on a Reverse Day or by a power, the character gets three Reverse Cooldown counters. While a character has Reverse Cooldown counters, their Reverse Power cannot be activated. Similarly, once a Dark Power has been activated for any reason, the character gets three Dark Cooldown counters, and while they have them, their Dark Power cannot be activated. Cooldown counters will be removed on the appropriate day.
Player Powers may also be added if this proves popular enough.
Special Days:
Spoiler
Each Monday is a Newcomer Monday. On this day, three choices for new characters to introduce are offered, and each player may vote for one. These characters are not named, but they will have titles hinting at their nature. The character who receives the most votes is added to the game with 10 HP.
Once at least one character has entered Avatar State, each Tuesday is a Reverse Tuesday. On this day, each player votes for a living character to have their Reverse Power activated. Also, at the end of the day, one Reverse Cooldown counter will be removed from each character with one.
Each Wednesday is a Double Hurt Wednesday. On this day, each player is given an additional Hurt vote to use as they wish, whether to hurt a character twice or hurt two different characters.
Once at least one character has entered Avatar State and there is at least one dead character, each Thursday is a Dark Thursday. On this day, each player votes for a dead character of their choice. The character who receives the most votes will have their fearsome Dark Power activated. Also, at the end of the day, one Dark Cooldown counter will be removed from each character with one.
Each Friday is a Double Heal Friday. On this day, each player is given an additional Heal vote to use as they wish, whether to heal a character twice or heal two different characters.
Each Saturday after the first week is a Smite Saturday. On this day, each player places a vote for which character to smite. The smote character loses 10 HP.
Once at least one character is dead, each Sunday is a Spirit Water Sunday. On this day, each player votes for a dead, non-DEPARTED character to raise from the dead with 10 HP. Normally, DEPARTED characters are not available for raising, but if there are no other options, a vote may be placed for one - this game is somewhat more merciful to them.
If a Raised character dies, or a character reaches -10 HP for any reason, they instantly become DEPARTED. In addition, if a DEAD character is not raised on a Spirit Water Day, they are marked as DEAD, and if a DEAD character is not raised, they become DEPARTED. DEPARTED characters are harder to bring back into the game, but not impossible.
Markings:
Spoiler
There are several kinds of markings for characters' names and HP totals to help keep track of things. When a character is within 5 HP of Avatar State, their HP will be coloured blue, and when they're within 5 HP of death, their HP will be coloured red. A character who has been Raised will have their name in [brackets], and for each time a character has previously been in Avatar State, they have one plus sign (+) at the end of their name. Any character who cannot be Healed or Hurt will have their HP in bold.
Each character's name is coloured according to their nation - Water Tribe characters have blue names, Earth Kingdom characters have green names, Fire Nation characters have red names, and Air Nomad characters have grey names. Benders have their names underlined. This is important because some powers distinguish between characters of different nations, between benders and nonbenders, or between benders of different elements.
Power Rulings:
Spoiler
First Listed Ruling
When a player casts multiple Character-Targeted Power votes, then only the first is counted (unless another effect would permit it) while the latter vote(s) are discarded. This applies to excess Heal and Hurt votes as well.
Avatar Ruling
For all purposes, an Avatar is considered to have only one nation, but to be a bender of every element. For example, Aang would not be affected by a power that targeted Fire Nation characters, but would be by one that targeted firebenders.
"Toph" Ruling
If a power with criteria has one or no eligible targets, all characters that can be targeted by powers become eligible even if they don't meet the criteria.
"Cabbage Man" Ruling
When two Up-Or-Down powers with contradictory effects activate simultaneously, the one that passes by more will take effect that day, and the one that passes by less will take effect the following day.
"Ursa" Ruling
If a player casts both a Heal vote and a Hurt vote for the same character on the same day, the votes have no effect and are not counted. If this occurs on a Double Vote day, only the extra vote carries through.
Additional rulings will be added as needed.
Endgame:
Spoiler
Endgame will begin once three characters remain, when all remaining characters will be set to 1 HP while dead characters are sent to the DEPARTED list. During Endgame, all players may cast one vote for each character, which can be either a Heal or a Hurt. At the end of the round, the character with the most HP will be the winner, the character with the second most HP will be awarded second place, and the remaining character will be in third place. Any ties will be broken by the host.

vote they receive. Any character damaged multiple times by this power only takes the largest amount of damage.
Azula's Paranoid Banishing
(Character Targeted)
The two characters who receive the most Dark Power of Azula votes will be banished from the game by Azula. Banished characters are removed from all listings, and may only return as options on Newcomer Days. The Boulder's Championship Matches
(Character Targeted)
For every Dark Power of the Boulder vote each character receives, they will gain some sponsoring for a great tournament, giving them 1 extra HP and a Tournament counter. All characters participating in the tournament will not enter Avatar State normally, and instead deal damage equal to their number of Tournament counters to all other participants in the tournament. Characters who die in the tournament are immediately taken to the DEPARTED list. Once there is only one character remaining in the tournament, that character will lose all Tournament counters and instantly enter Avatar State.

(Character Targeted)
The character who receives the most Dark Power of Long Feng votes will get a Joo Dee with 10 HP assigned to them. The Joo Dee will intercept all Heal and Hurt votes cast at the character (but not damage or healing from other sources) until she enters Avatar State or either she or the character she's assigned to dies. If removed by a death, the Joo Dee is removed from the game permanently and cannot be brought back in any way.
Momo's Serious Case Of Mistaken Identity
(Character Targeted)
The character who receives Dark Power of Momo votes will turn out to have been mixed up with a random dead character and will switch places with them to fix it, transferring all statuses except for Cooldown counters.
Ozai's Burning The World
(Character Targeted)

A character hit by a fire blast takes 2 damage plus 1 for every Dark Power of Ozai vote they received, and the two adjacent characters take half damage even if they're already dead. If a character would be damaged by multiple fire blasts, they only take the greatest amount of damage.
Piandao's Singlehandedly Taking On An Army
(Character Targeted)
The character who receives the most Dark Power of Piandao votes will battle astoundingly well against the overwhelming odds of the game and, until they either die or enter Avatar State, deal 1 damage to each other character per round. Zuko's Moral Dilemma
(Character Targeted)
The character who receives the most Dark Power of Zuko votes will have to decide between loyalty to their nation or a life of treachery. If they receive more Heal votes than Hurt votes next round, they will choose loyalty and give all characters from their nation 3 HP while dealing 2 damage to all other characters, but if they receive more Hurt votes than Heal votes, they will decide that treachery is more fun and cause all characters from their nation to take 3 damage while all other characters gain 2 HP.
Up-or-Down-Votes: Vote on as many of these as you like per day:
[center]Combustion Man's Disastrous Power Backfire
(Up-Or-Down Vote)
If the Yes to Dark Combustion Man votes exceed the No to Dark Combustion Man votes, the next character to have any of their powers activated will have their power backfire, instantly killing them and dealing 5 damage to a number of adjacent characters in each direction equal to their Avatar State counters.

Joo Dee's Interchangeable Pseudo-Clones
(Up-Or-Down Vote)
If the Yes to Dark Joo Dee votes exceed the No to Dark Joo Dee votes, all living characters will be considered interchangeable and indistinct by the Dai Li. Before votes are applied this round, each character will have their HP replaced by the HP of a randomly selected other character, and also gain any ongoing power effects applied to that character.
Katara's Spirit Water Action
(Up-Or-Down Vote)
If the Yes to Dark Katara votes exceed the No to Dark Katara votes, Katara will bring out some extra Spirit Water, allowing dead (Including DEPARTED) characters to receive Heal and Hurt votes the next day. If a character is healed above 1 HP, they are counted as Raised.
Mai's Boring Victory
(Up-or-Down Vote)
If the Yes to Dark Mai votes exceed the No to Dark Mai votes, all Up-or-Down Vote powers for the next week will require twice as many Yes votes to pass to keep them from boring Mai, and all other powers will need an Up-Or-Down Vote as well to pass.
Pakku's Fearsome And Unrivalled Waterbending
(Up-Or-Down Vote)
If the Yes to Dark Pakku votes exceed the No to Dark Pakku votes, all characters who do not receive a positive HP change this round are blasted with waves of water and take 1d9 damage, with waterbenders taking half damage. In addition, characters who have a negative HP change not counting damage from this power are encased in ice temporarily, negating any Heal votes they receive next round.
Sokka's Quenchy Cactus Juice
(Up-Or-Down Vote)
If the Yes to Dark Sokka votes exceed the No to Dark Sokka votes, all non-DEPARTED characters will drink cactus juice and hallucinate, setting their HP totals to a random number from the lowest HP total of an existing character to the highest before other votes are applied this round. If a character is brought back to life by this power, they will not be marked as Raised
Tarrlok's Secret Super-Evil Powers
(Up-Or-Down Vote)
If the Yes to Dark Tarrlok votes exceed the No to Dark Tarrlok votes, the next character to enter Avatar State will reveal a secret and terrible power, replacing their Avatar Power with its Dark counterpart and forcing the two adjacent characters to activate their Avatar Powers as well.
Toph's Inability To See Anything Less Awesome Than She Is
(Up-Or-Down Vote)
If the Yes to Dark Toph votes exceed the No to Dark Toph votes, all characters who received no votes this round, because they weren't seen by players, are deemed insufficiently awesome and lose half their HP as a penalty.
Ty Lee's Exemption From Universal Laws Such As Gravity And Being Shipped With Zuko
(Up-or-Down Vote)
If the Yes to Dark Ty Lee votes exceed the No to Dark Ty Lee votes, all characters are exempt from universal laws for the next week. During that time, all character-targeted power and special day votes may be cast for any character regardless of whether they would normally be eligible or not.
Zhao's Killing The Moon
(Up-or-Down Vote)
If the Yes to Dark Zhao votes exceed the No to Dark Zhao votes, Zhao will kill the moon, throwing the balance of the world out of whack. All Fire Nation characters gain 2 HP, but all other characters take 2 damage. Water Tribe non-bender characters take 2 additional damage, and waterbenders take an additional 4 damage.
Powers With Other Targeting Systems:
Tenzin's Restoration Of His People
(Nation Targeted)
The nation that receives the most Dark Power of Tenzin votes will be restored by Tenzin, causing all DEAD or DEPARTED characters from that nation to become simply DEAD.

All right, we're back! And it looks like the new thread is opening with a bang.
Ty Lee has finally reached her Avatar State, and lashed out at our surviving characters with all her might! Sokka could take the beating no longer and fell. He will be missed.
However, there is still hope, as Katara's powers allow all characters to be healed today, including non-living ones! Maybe we'll see a few old friends back in action.
...Say, where's our local homicidal maniac got to?
"She's resting up after taking a bit of a beating. She asked me to fill in for her."
Oh, I see. Well, who's going to get slashed up today?
Obituaries: Sokka.

...Is Iroh really evil?
"The Twelve Gods and Avatar Yangchen agreed that he was failing his duties. He had that one coming."
Ouch. And Ty Lee's been exposed as a traitor to the Fire Nation as well. Oh well, at least we've got two healers back in action. Katara has somehow managed to bring herself and Korra back from the dead. And now we'll see another person coming back, although our options there are more narrow.
Obituaries: None.
