I'm loathe to leave yet another us behind, it seems fun to try to communicate with our off-shoots. However, that hostile thing and its friends are scaring me. Maybe we could rub against Split2 on a course away from the enemies to see if it follows us?
BTW, I second Radmelon's idea of racial memories. Whatever else we become, that's just awesome. Who knows, we might become a hivemind
WE ARE THE NOM. PREPARE TO BE ASSIMILATED. YOUR CALORIC AND NUTRITIONAL VALUE WILL BE ADDED TO OUR OWN. RESISTANCE IS FUTILE.

That is certainly one of the options available.
Actually looking at the Prereqs you could get a small-scale Hivemind up pretty early.
Not a total one with one consciousness though, I haven't even planned that far.
Also: May I suggest MultiSplitting? It provides a great way of gaining reinforcements. Especially when combined with Healing (which only improves down that line and introduces Regeneration a lot faster)

Multisplitting does look cool, but it could hinder our attempts to get a different kind of reproduction later if we focus on our beginning one. Also, some more perception would be good. We're all but helpless as it is.
Fatigue makes me wax philosophic and/or babble. If I've posted something strange and tangential, that is probably the cause. This entry would be an example.
It should also be noted that our only weapon is slam, which causes us damage so far unless we unevolve absorbing membrane. This makes an ambush a bad idea as we are. We should also get some more senses in addition to intellegence, as so far all we can do is:
a)Detect the presence or absence of movement in the general vicinity.
b)Detect the presence or absence of light.
I also support the lessening of magic restrictions, it could lead to a very interesting ecosystem. Maybe fluffing it as a high background mana field or some other thaumababble.

If sufficient time, split again, and fight 2 vs.3. Else, Retreat, hopefully with thing2 in tow, and search for food source.
Spoiler
I suggest we aim for brain first. Because some intelligence will aid communication. From there I suggest we focus on senses, so as to find and identify other creatures, the naming of which will provide good amounts of extra DNA.

We evolved mouth, so we can bite things, and we got the membrane upgrade.
That's not what it says in the character sheet. It just says 'slam'. Makes sense, really, as we have neither a jaw nor teeth, just a soft spot in our membrane.

Slam1 and Bite1 are your attacks
Slam doesn't do damage to you because you Hardened your Membrane.
Bite is absorbing a bit of your opponent
The way I'm fluffing Magic right now is those with Souls (Prereq: Intelligence2, Name, Gen10) can start to absorb the ambient magic, not veyr well at first (the starting ManaI is 1/1 Mana and gaining it in the time it takes to lose 2 Hunger)
There will be cells that hold reservoirs of Mana and areas saturated with it that move around.
I'd update but I dont have time before I have to go to school, so Update when I get home in ~6 hours

Seeing the 3 cells making their way towards you you decide to flee, bumping into your new friend who quickly gets your intentions.
The two of you pull back to a safe distance, the cells congregating around the anchored cell.
The lead one seems to be doing the wriggle-version of a growl before bumping against the anchored one. The tendril you nommed on slowly regrowing as it is touched by the lead cell, the other two charging cells following suit. Bumping against the anchor
As you watch you feel some of your organelles decaying and repairing, a small amount of unusable nutrients released to be swept away into the current (-1 Hunger)
The three cells are focused solely on repairing the plant, having stopped growling at you, maybe not even sensing you.
3DNA
3/4 Hunger
6/6 Health Points
Basically: The cells stopped being menacing to you when you went a certain way away and began repairing the plant somehow. You dont have the Perception to get any more information than that.

The cowards way out?
Remember that the things you decide now is what your Species will pick up for their habits later.
Your fleeing at the first sign of combat, remember you have Attack2 (assuming you Slam them then nom on them)
2 on 3, with a surprise attack.

Split twice, evolving a Flaggellum, then charge back in with the assistance of things 2 through 4. Destroy the Agricoles, and then feast on them and their crop.
Spoiler
Flaggellum makes us faster, which should help give us the edge. Once We eat some Agricole, we'll have enough DNA to get a proto-brain, with some to spare. (understand Communication, anyone?)
Alternate Ideas I support.
Evolve Harden Membrane II, as it will allow us to easily survive fights. Can be done in combo with Flaggellum or stand alone.

Tactical retreat, get reinforcements, strike back. I like that.

I blame Real Life. Acursed thing keeping me from posting.
Oh I should say: I have a mental thing so I don't really understand or comprehend rudeness among other things, so, if I seem like an ass or too pushy about something or get to involved with your decision-making either PM me or tell me in Thread. And not subtly, a big bold "Your being rude about X" is what I need.
Updates:
Knowing that you are outnumbered by the cells (which you want to call Agricoles for some reason...whatever that is. But it doesn't seem to want to hold in your primitive mind, maybe if it got upgraded) you Split twice (-2 Hunger +2 Cell Allies).
This time when your cells finish mutating you find a long wriggly thing at the back of you allowing you to propel yourself through the water.
Following your lead Thing2 splits, also gaining the Flagellum
Your group: You
Thing2 (Created when near plant)
Thing3 (Split from you first)
Thing4 (Split from you second)
Thing5 (Split form Thing2)
Unfortunately, it would appear the newest member of your group, the first 'grandcell' decides it would rather escape and find a new source of food, wriggling away as fast as it can as you rally the troops, making weird wriggles in the general direction of the anchored cell and it's protectors before shooting forward, charging at the surprised defenders. (+1 Attack to you)
You: Slam directly into Enemy1, dealing a brutal amount of damage and leaving it leaking fluids (3 Damage)
Thing2: Takes a big bite out of the rear of Enemy2. Not dealing as much damage but a pretty fair amount (2 damage)
Thing3: Tries to attack but is deflected off the hardened membrane of Enemy3, obviously not used to the Flagellum-induced speed yet
Thing4: Impacts Enemy1, then takes a bite. Capitalizing on it's weakness from your Slam to nom away a full quarter of the cell killing it instantly, the rest of it a bit mushy from the two Slams but still edible (2 damage)

If we're smart enough to remember or notice, start attacking the one that's already hurt.

(Yeah I got it, I'm good at Etymology but you can't actually Name another cell without Intelligence1)
Update: Since tactics isn't being included no circumstance bonus this time.
With the first of the enemies already a floating corpse you and your friend split up to face the other two, 4 on 2 is hardly a fair fight
The two Enemies go first, slamming into their original attackers, both dealing 2 damage each before being slaughtered and torn apart.
You greedily gobble up the remains of the cells (+3DNA, +3 Hunger, New Evolutions Unlocked) before turning back to the yummy anchored cell.
You can see that it has started growing, both into the ground and up higher into the water, probably from whatever the cell you just ate did.
You can see 3 1/2-formed tendrils and a 4th, the only remaining original tendril waving around. It actually looks quite like your new Flagellum actually.
The piercing cries of the anchored cell finally die down, allowing your Sensation Detection to work properly again.
The big Thing you detected earlier seems to be moving closer, and closer.
At a guess you would say 2 HungerLoss away (for that is your only measurement of time right now)
The ground is starting to break up near where the anchored cell is anchored
5DNA
4/4 Hunger
6/6 HP
Some of your allies are wounded
New Evolutions:
Growth: 3DNA. You are bigger Yay. Has no immediate benefits but does unlock size-restricted Evolutions. Prereq: Fight and win a combat
CHARGE!: 4DNA You can utilize the speed given by a Flagellum much more efficiently now. +1 Attack, +1/2 Flagellum (so 1 Flagellum = +1 Attack, 2 is +2 4 is +3...)
Lengthen Flagellum: 2DNA, increases the reach of the Flagellum (Functions as Faster Flagellum, but unlocks different stuff)

Does anyone else read the descriptions like we're a bactery inside an organism snacking on the proteines/carbon structures of a cellular membrane? In that scenario, go us for defeating the white cells!
A question for the far, far future: instead of evolving into a multicellular organism, would it be possible (if the other players feel like it, obviously) to become some sort of sentient swarm of multiple single cell organisms?
