The "In Memory of Durkon" Thread
Post all your favorite Durkon moments throughout the strip here.
Some of mine: Boom! and Puppets Cannae Even Eat Pie!
Not to mention the running "trees are our enemies" jokes.
Durkon was in many ways the moral stability of the Order - a solid guy all the way through. He'll be sorely missed.
EDIT: Also, I wonder if Durkon's death will tear apart the Order much as Kraagor's did to the Order of the Scribble. I can imagine Roy and the rest possibly blaming Belkar for Durkon's death. Then if V turns at some point that's further going to cause a rift. The Order has been struck to the core here, I think.Last edited by ThePhantasm; 2013-03-03 at 10:03 PM.
"And yet, will we ever come to an end of discussion and talk if we think we must always reply to replies? For replies come from those who either cannot understand what is said to them, or are so stubborn and contentious that they refuse to give in even if they do understand." - St. Augustine

Re: The "In Memory of Durkon" Thread
RIP Durkon. May you indeed be laid by your ancestors, and may Thor welcome your soul and bring you to your father's side. May your hammer always be strong in the Celestial Realms, and may the ale never cease. And may your heavenly rest never be troubled by trees.

Re: The "In Memory of Durkon" Thread
This was the comic that made Durkon my favorite character. And he has been been my favorite character ever since. I have a soft spot for lawful types.

Re: The "In Memory of Durkon" Thread
I would like to see a short comment of Hel yelling "Died of vampirism! He's mine!", followed by Thor smashing her over the head and walking away with Durkon.

Re: The "In Memory of Durkon" Thread
Indeed. "Bein' a dwarf is about doin' yer duty, even if it makes ye miserable. ESPECIALLY if it makes ye miserable."
...weirdly, that has always been one of my favorite lines in the entire comic. Being an exceedingly Lawful sort of person in real life, Durkon was always the member of the Order that I could relate to the most.Last edited by rgrekejin; 2013-03-03 at 10:35 PM.

From OtOotPCs:
SpoilerWhen he goes out of his way to try to save the adventuring party that's trying to get him killed.
And for course, who can forget the giant golden Tankard of beer, or the moment at the Kato's wedding, but those have already been linked.

Re: The "In Memory of Durkon" Thread
When in dire predicaments, it's important to ask yourself, "What Would Thor Do?"
With any luck, it will actually be applicable to your situation.

Re: The "In Memory of Durkon" Thread
My favorite moment is definitely Durkon and Roy meeting for the first time in "OtOoPCs":
Spoiler"You know they're trying to get you killed, and yet you're still unwilling to hang them out to dry?"
"It don't matter none tha they be rotten warts on tha arse o' tha world, I still have a duty not to get 'em killed. Tha's what being a dwarf is all aboot."
"Then I wish I knew more dwarves."
That is the essence of Durkon right there.
Also:
"You know he'd be a pretty good warrior if he had a better head for numbers."
"Are...are you telling me to leave?" "... Aye."
"Look out behind ye!" "All I see are a few trees." "Exactly! I'll save ye!"
"'Twas a mechanical defect."
Technically a V moment, but Durkon has a good line here: "Yer MARRIED?!?"
And these two.

Re: The "In Memory of Durkon" Thread
Durkon was a very strange little bearded man, and that's how I'll always remember him.
Fun fact: That strip was also titled "The Bright Side".

Rest easy Beardy McBeerstein with questionable odor problems. May you mack on a flight of Valkyries while Thor gives you a high-five in Valhalla.
"Look at me, I'm Robespierre!"
I think it's time we blow this scene, get everybody and their stuff together...okay, three, two, one, LET'S JAM!
