Jami, You're an artist, I think your avatar is crying out for a dose of your skills.

Just click on "User CP" up the top there and under "Settings and Options" click "Edit Options"
Under "Miscellaneous Options" and "Avatar" select "Custom" then under "Custom Avatar URL" throw in the URL to a picture back at your site or something.
P.S. pick the Monkey King!

Haha! I'll have to play with that when I have some time to sit down and catch my breath. I think when we actually start, I'll create a thread for avatar requests.

Speaking of which...
I'm not sure exactly how successful I would be if I tried, but I've been looking over the sample art and wondering how well I could recreate it.
(It would obviously take far more time than the slight effort I place in my current art)
Would you mind me attempting to create avatars for people in your style? I would entirely understand if you want to keep that to yourself.
Note that I would not attempt to recreate any character represented in the comic, merely the style.
Hmmm...
I think I'll need to wait before I can really figure out how to make an Erfworld style avatar. However, here is an attempt:
Its just... not quite right. I think I need to work on the shading.
Yeah, I guess since Oots is really the only art I have ever really tried, it is kinda my base. I like the way it turned out, it just wasn't what I was trying to get.
Hopefully when I get a comic or two to base things off of, I'll have a better shot a more 'pure' Erfworld style.
V: Why thank you. Considering the extremely little experience I have had, that is quite the compliment.
Since I've got the originals, I can swap out the white backgrounds when I get home with the forum color so they're not up against white. Do people prefer png or jpg or gif?

I decided to try out making something a bit Erfworldy.
It's not exactly the right genre (from what we've seen so far) but I wanted to try the style. The big issue with avatars like this is the shrinking at the end. The head to body ratio I found difficult too.

Wow! This looks great. I'd say the head to body ratio is pretty good on this guy. The way I'm drawing eyes in this thing is more simple than what you've done, but his eyes give this guy a lot of character. Great stuff man! I can't wait to see more.

The best format to use with a transparent background would be GIF, as Internet Explorer doesn't like transparencies in PNG very much. PNG would otherwise be the better choice. I don't recommend JPEG for these types of images due to the artifacts it creates, you should get higher quality pictures for a smaller size with GIF or PNG.
